Aloha Island was great we camped in a tent by the water for 4 nights with a lovely view. The staff were very helpful and the facilities were clean. There were a few toilets, a couple of showers that were coin operated, a small kitchen and an outdoor sheltered cooking area with a few barbecues. The first night we didn't...

A fabulous spot we found on our campervan tour on the north island. Super clean right on the water and you could be lucky enough to see the resident kiwis. The most spectacular sunset viewing and the resident ducks are so friendly and very curious. Great cooking facilities as well. Highly recommended.

Aroha Island is a great place to camp with family and friends. Its a very economic way to experience travelling to Northland. If anyone is not keen at camping there is dorm type accommodation also available. There is a small kitchen with toilet and shower facilitates for campers. The best part of my experience was waking up to the sound...

We stayed for a couple nights, it's a nice park, but there could have been more spacing between RVs, it just seemed a little tight with no trees to space vans out. The amenities were clean, but bring coins because you pay for hot water.

Aroha Island is a quiet campsite in a stunning setting next to the Kerikeri inlet. Unpowered sites are located near the beach; powered sites are situated about 100m away from the beach and are surrounded by local bush. The amenities are great and very well maintained. A track around the island can be explored at night, in order to spot...

So great to be back at this place we got married in 4 years later. Good to see the upgrade of the chalets and some new seating around the island, new plants growing strong and the birds singing still. Love it here.

What a gem of a place Aroha Island is. We brought out 9 and 6 year olds here with the hope of seeing a wild kiwi and we were not disappointed. Seeing a Kiwi in the wild was a unique and special experience and we were so grateful to the staff for their help with this. It was spellbinding hearing...

Aroha Island is not a holiday park in the traditional Kiwi sense. Not a sprawling site of packed in campers, no TV room, no big toilet & shower block, no games room, no shop, no lounge, nor bait station etc. Neither is it a DOC ground - it provides far more amenities than a DOC ground. It is somewhere in...

We stayed in the Kiwi lodge, fabulous accomodation not luxury but good comfortable beds and everything you need, and the location more than makes up for anything you might miss. Great views and possibilities of Kiwi viewing as well make this a stay we will repeat.

Aroha Island. Wow! What a magic place. Only a few kilometres from Kerikeri, but in a world of its own. Tho it’s not really an island, being connected to the mainland by a causeway. It’s an amazing place to stay. We, being a group of friends, rented the house (Kiwi Cottage) and the two studios for a mid-winter 3-day weekend...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Aroha Island offers a range of accommodation: Aroha Kiwi Lodge, our bush cottages Fantail Cottage and Tui Cottage as well as beach and bush camping. It’s the perfect place to just relax or to use as a holiday base to explore the Bay of Islands. Aroha Island offers camping on one of our two beautiful campgrounds. Unpowered sites down by our sheltered Kerikeri inlet beach or a choice of powered or unpowered sites in our upper bush campground. Aroha Island is a 12ha sanctuary in the Kerikeri Inlet and is a short 12km drive north east of Kerikeri, in the stunning Bay of Islands. A causeway links the island to the mainland, providing permanent and convenient vehicle access. It is a natural haven with a wide diversity of New Zealand plants and birds including the rare North Island Brown Kiwi.(You must stay on the Island to go for a Kiwi walk or phone or email for a guided Kiwi tour). Stroll the private beach, kayak the inlet, take a bush walk, look for birds and check out the information in the Eco Centre. Please note because of the presence of Kiwi & the sensitive nature of the island, a “No Pets, No Smoking” policy is in place, thank you. ... more   less
