We stayed in the Kiwi lodge, fabulous accomodation not luxury but good comfortable beds and everything you need, and the location more than makes up for anything you might miss. Great views and possibilities of Kiwi viewing as well make this a stay we will repeat.

Aroha Island. Wow! What a magic place. Only a few kilometres from Kerikeri, but in a world of its own. Tho it’s not really an island, being connected to the mainland by a causeway. It’s an amazing place to stay. We, being a group of friends, rented the house (Kiwi Cottage) and the two studios for a mid-winter 3-day weekend... More

Stayed here for two nights in our camper. After a month in NZ, I can honestly say that this little place is in my top 5. Gorgeous place to relax and swim during the day and the opportunity to spot brown kiwi at night, amazing! Be patient, you'll find them!

We stayed on the island for a few weeks wwoofing and it was amazing. The staff and owners are so friendly and provide everyone with vital information about where and when to see the kiwis. We were lucky enough to see one for a few minutes!! The camp site is very peaceful with a lovely BBQ area and clean facilities.... More

We stayed for just 1 night while on a trip around the bay of islands. Since it is the end of the peak holiday season it was quiet and had few visitors. Very lucky for us we saw 2 wild kiwis on our night walk. Fantail cottage is basic but clean, the location idyllic

Peaceful setting with beautiful views. The pitches were fine but not many with power. Best sites were beside the water on the lower level, but without power. Shores and kitchen were adequate and clean. No dump station so need to use Kerikeri municipal. 4 kiwis on site but difficult to find, however red torches provided for nighttime exploration.

As all the camps in NZ also this one is overpriced for what you get: Small and not clean showers and kitchen and piece of land where you can camp. For 20$ per person I think it is way too much. Otherwise the staff is friendly and helpful with kiwi-spotting tips.

I wish I could give it more than just 5 stars. This place is just perfect, and probably the best vacation spot I have ever been to!! How much did we like it? Well, we were supposed to stay here for 3 nights, then spend the next night (last of our vacation) in Auckland and spend our last vacation day... More

The actual island is absolutely amazing. A really quiet retreat where the stars of the show are the kiwis! We saw three on our two nights stay and it was an amazing memorable experience. We stayed in the fantail cabin for our two nights. I would probably rate the cabin as 'average' boosted by the obvious kiwi attraction. The cabin... More
