We, my husband and I and our daughter and her husband stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit for a week in January. We rented from Outrigger. We had a full ocean view from the second floor, close to the lobby. The Maui Eldorado is unique for its beach pavilion which we used daily. Chairs, loungers, tables, a kitchen, towels are available in the pavilion. The beach in front is swimmable and if one is looking for a bit easier swim, close by is Black Rock in front of the Sheraton which tends to be a bit calmer. The Eldorado fronts the beach walk which stretches from the Hyatt to the Honua Kai in Kaanapali, a beautiful sandy stretch of stretch of beach and walking path. The pool area is nice. Clean barbeques. Good parking. Walking distance to Whaler's Village. Free Kaanapali shuttle stops outside the property. The unit we had was large, king beds in both rooms and 2 pull out couches. Large covered lanai with comfortable furniture which looked like an upgrade from what we saw on other lanais. There was no maid service which was disappointing for the price. We did some cleaning right away as the floors were dirty. Some dishes had baked on food. The doors were mostly glass and needed cleaning but we didn't do windows on vacation! The lanai table was quite dirty. Again, I thought for the price that there would be some housekeeping service other than the outclean. The a/c was ok, in one bedroom it clunked however repair person was able to fix that and was very responsive. …
Booked directly with Outrigger and stayed in condo J204. Ideal location, close proximity to the beach, the pool, and the parking. Loved the beautiful golf course and partial ocean views from the large lanai. Enjoyed being able to walk to Whalers Village, Castaway café and Black Rock. The condo was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. The front office staff was friendly and helpful! Also a plus, being a short drive from Maui’s Tacos which has the best fish’s tacos and a great happy hour.
We had a fantastic time. The place was clean, comfortable, beautiful with patio furniture to enjoy the well-maintained garden, gorgeous flowers, birds. Private beach is walking distance. Great location, good parking space, excellent front desk service. We want to come back for more.
Unit J107 We stayed for 10 days in October. It was ok, but we wouldn’t stay there again. We had a large unit for 2 couples. The layout was good, with each bedroom having its own private bathroom, but that’s where it ends. The underground parking is quite a way from most of the units. On the walking paths to/from the units there are some flights of stairs, which are poorly lit at night. It could make hauling luggage and groceries difficult for some. There are spots of badly sunken concrete on the pathways that you can’t see in the dark.. until you trip like I did. When checking in, our unit wasn’t ready on time. We were sent to our unit but had to wait outside for over an hour until housekeeping was finished. The unit itself is in terrible need of updating. There is peeling paint in the bathroom and signs/smell of old water damage in the clothes closet. The carpets are dirty and stained, the beds aren’t comfortable, the furniture is so dirty that we covered it before sitting on it. Kitchen cabinets have been updated and were well stocked, but everything was so dirty and sticky. Dishes were dirty, the cabinet handles were sticky, and the floor was filthy. When we arrived, we noticed only 3 chairs outside at the patio table. As we were booked for 4 adults, we needed a 4th. We requested one from the front desk, from guest services and from maintenance and were told by all that there were no chairs available for us. We personally didn’t get any use out of the cabana because of its limited hours. For us we love the beach in the morning and at sunset, but chairs and towels need to be returned by 530pm and aren’t available until 930am. We ended up renting our own chairs from Maui Snorkel. On a positive note, the resort staff were wonderful and super friendly. There’s a little store/café in the front office that has gifts, snacks, spices, postage stamp etc. They have a small menu and make some really good food. It’s easy to miss, so look for it when you check in.…
We have stayed at the Eldorado twice before in a studio, in 2012 and 2014. We were absolutely thrilled with our accommodations. This time we decided to treat ourselves to a larger one bedroom garden view suite. While we still think the Eldorado is a good value compared to many others in Maui, our rental unfortunately was definitely showing its age. We booked directly with Outrigger, not a third party. And let me say upfront that management was very responsive to our issues, which were minor. But considering we were paying more for a one bedroom, we expected it to be in better condition. The kitchen was updated including stainless steel appliances, and the unit was tastefully decorated. We love the location in Ka'anapali, within walking distance of Whalers Village and Black Rock. There is easily accessible ample parking, 3 pools, a gorgeous private beach cabana they will take you to by golf cart, and very lovely well manicured tropical grounds throughout the property. There is a charge for parking, resort fees, clean out fees and many taxes, which do add up, but they are clearly disclosed on their website. Most Hawaii rentals charge all these fees. Be aware, there is no room cleaning during your stay, although we were ok with that. They used to give you towel replacements before, but now you need to wash towels yourself. I was not happy about that change. One of the quirky things about this rental is, you check-in and out at the front desk, but call a different number at the nearby Fairway Plaza if you have any problems. On arrival we found a note on the counter about a broken door lock on a sliding glass door, stating it would be fixed “today or tomorrow.” I immediately called the front desk, and they said they would talk to someone at the Fairway location to get it straightened out. They did have someone come out to fix it, but the office was completely unaware that this problem existed. They had to jerry-rig the door to stay locked because they didn’t have parts. It wasn’t a big deal since we were on the second floor, and had a second sliding glass door to access the lanai. But it just shows you that the age of these condos is catching up with them. That wasn’t the only thing that was wrong. We kept hearing a repetitious loud noise that sounded like a slamming door. We finally figured out it was the AC cycling in the living room/kitchen area. It was loud enough to wake you. We left it off at night, and luckily there was another unit that worked properly in the bedroom. By the way the “bedroom” adjoins the living area, and is closed off by pulling a bamboo type curtain across the space. No door. This is not shown in any of the pictures. These bamboo curtains were also on all of the sliding glass doors too. They are old, very stiff, warped, and do not close properly. I decided leave them alone as much as possible. We tried using the dryer, and heard a loud thumping noise from it. The filter and inner housing fell into the dryer causing the loud noise. The only way I could use it was by leaving them off. By the end of our stay I did one last load, and now the dryer made a loud rubbing sound and started to smell. I just dried our stuff out on the lanai. Management was very apologetic about these issues, and staff is very friendly and helpful. But all the little things add up. It just seems Outrigger is not doing a good job maintaining these aging condos. We are on the fence about staying here again, which is a shame since it was our favorite place in Maui.…
We had the most incredible experience with Kira Doty, the Reservations Sales Manager at the Outrigger Hospitality Group. Not only was she kind and concerned when my daughter fell ill, she was also responsive, communicative, and generous as we needed to make changes to our reservation. I am now an Outrigger enthusiast for life due to the exchanges I have had with Kira. If you want to book a hotel in which you are treated like a valued guest, not just another tourist, I'd HIGHLY recommend you seek out Kira at Outrigger!! Thank you!!
The Eldorado really is a wonderful property. Situated 10 minutes from Whaler’s Village to the south, Lahaina a little further away but accessible by taxi or bus, Kapalua t o the north, broad beaches galore, on a golf course, private cabana on the beach. a wide variety of restaurants all over the place. Not our first time here. This time we just chose a unit that didn’t check all the boxes. Not managed by the Outrigger group. So, no cleaning service, no laundry service. Not what I had anticipated for a vacation - doing my own cleaning and laundry.. One set of towels and sheets provided along with toiletries and a starter coffee basket. The unit wasn’t all that clean and needs more attention. In addition, the unit is situated first floor in a corner. Very dark and the lighting inside wasn’t well thought out.. BBQ broken, internet/tv needed s reset. Decor is dark and rustic. On the plus side, new appliances, well-equipped kitchen. Short walk to the beach, or golf cart shuttles can be called for to and from rides to the beach. Be prepared to pay big bucks for everything here.…
We’ve stayed here before, but I have to say it’s really deteriorated in the last 3 years. Though its surroundings are gorgeous, and close to whalers village etc, I will not stay here again for the price we paid. The only thing that we rave about here is the cabana on beach.
The resort itself has a lot to offer. Nice pool for swimming and sunset viewing, close to nice beaches and snorkeling areas, near Whaler's Village with restaurants and shops. We stayed in unit H204 which left a lot to be desired. The decor/furniture was tired/dated. The deck could be greatly improved with new furniture. There is no dining table on the deck and the existing chairs are not particularly comfortable. The appliances were somewhat difficult to use, particularly the washing machine. Other than paper towels, there were no kitchen supplies provided. Though we had arranged for someone from the hotel to come get our bags on the morning of our departure, that didn't happen and we had to go chase someone down while our cab was waiting.
We stayed in a king studio unit. It was clean, good bed and pillows. Great patio furniture which made it lovely to spend time outside. Everything was in good working order. The only negative was the area rug under the coffee table was filthy. Wouldn’t even walk on it with shoes. Needs to be replaced or just thrown out. Our unit was in G block, ground floor. Across from main pool. Lots of people walking on the path in front of the lanai, so a little busy. But great central location. Near 2 pools, front desk, resort entrance. Ten minute walk through beautiful golf course to the beach cabana. Lovely. Beautiful landscaping. The hot tub was not well kept. Water was very dirty. I understand smoking in Hawaii just isn’t done but seriously, smokers are there spending their money too. Could you at least put a little table and a few chairs in the smoking area? Or a bench? Maybe an umbrella for when it’s pouring rain? Overall a good stay. Would stay here again.…
