Hotel Playa Coco is often celebrated for its vibrant, musical atmosphere and live entertainment, though the volume can be a bit much for some guests. The beachfront location earns high marks for its serenity and easy access to the sand and sea. Guests commend the attentive service and overall cleanliness of the resort, including the well-kept pools and public spaces.
While the rooms are generally appreciated for their size and views, there are mentions of maintenance and water supply issues. Amenities, including the praised beach and dining options, add to the hotel's appeal, but opinions on value vary, with some concerns over food quality and extra costs.

Detailed Reviews
White sand beach, absolutely beautiful, but the water was a bit chilly. The weather altogether was chilly. One end of the beach is rocky and good snorkeling. We saw stingray several times and actually stepped on one. Got clean towels once that week. They picked them back off the floor and hung them up. The food was good and no one got sick. Bring your own water bottles and coffee mugs. You can fill them up with filtered water at the bar which was good water. The catamaran rides were free but they had to take you, you can't take them on your own. You can't even borrow the life jackets, which were in poor condition. The people were nice, not overly friendly until they got to know you. Some of the rooms had mold and smelled very musty. The evening entertainment was not great and nothing for teenagers. Bring cards and games or the evening will be long. The last evening before we left we got bit by bugs pretty bad. The airport is horrid. We literally sat on the floor, the departures we're never updated on the screens and the announcements could not be understood.

We just returned from Playa Coco.It was our second time at this resort and we liked it. White sandy beach is amazing and we did not see anything better neither in Cuba nor Dominican republic nor Costa Rica.
The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets had a variety of freshly cooked meal and juices. Buffet had always prepared clean tables with full set of cutlery. Sweets were exceptional: big choice and prepared very well.
Rooms were clean, lots of light, issues were resolved in a quite timely manner, we even got a call from reception to make sure everything was ok.
Now about cons:
Balcony doors were difficult to open, probably lubrication of sliding mechanism would help.
There were 4 tennis courts but only one had a net. Unfortunately they are quite neglected, though with a bit of maintenance - such as cleaning - could be improved. Same with basketball field. Zumba is quite pathetic, it is more aerobic than zumba,
Nightly shows would be more pleasant to attend if they would not be so loud.

We had an amazing experience at Hotel Playa Coco, we travelled as a group of 13 and by the end of the trip our friend count doubled. We met people from all over Canada, Russia and Cuba and built memories together that will last. Alex a member of the dance team and an MC for events was always a huge help and a really good time, get him to bring you to the cave party. (Literally, a party in a giant cave; lots of music, dancing and fun. And then there was Charlie; an activity director/MC at the club. Charlie was everywhere you looked, he seemed to always be near and was easy to talk to and a fun guy to hang with. When he was finished his shift he would stick around with us until he had to leave, and we all loved him for it.
The chefs in the buffet do an amazing job everyday, they make good food and if you have any special requests they are happy to help if possible. Fortunately, I got to spend a night hanging with the kitchen staff, arm wrestling, laughing, learning hand shakes and other things about Cuban culture and food.
The waiters/waitress were very nice, sometimes we would be a group of 5 sometimes 25 and they were always happy and accommodating. We moved tables around and made their jobs harder but they were still always nice to us. We tried to sit in Mabelys section every day because she was so funny to talk to and would dance with us and have fun. If we needed anything she was the person to go to! We loved her!
Joni, probably the first person we met on the trip was the bartender in the lobby bar and we were certainly happy we did. He made special drinks, did bar tricks, made fun of our friends with us and overall made going to get more drinks a good time. I would recommend seeing him for any fancy off menu drinks, he knows a lot.
Tokio, one of the a la cartes is an amazing experience similar to a fancy Japanese grill or Korean grill, the staff is funny and able to do a lot of flame tricks which make your meal not only taste good but fun. Fun with food!
If you didn’t fill up in the buffet or just want something else their is a pizza place everyday, their is a snack bar that does burgers hotdogs fish and chips and other bar foods.
Or if you don’t want to leave the beach all day you can go to bar Ofelia. They served pork, turkey chicken sandwiches as well as some of the best mixed drinks.
The resort is beautiful and always well maintained, the grass was cut, the leaves were raked and the pool was clean.the grounds crew did an amazing job everyday and would always have coconuts collected for coconut water (you should ask and try it)
Overall we had an amazing experience and only 2 days home we have already started talking about when we can go back. We built good memories with people from around the world and the staff at the resort and would like that to continue with us in our lives.

I have travelled to Cuba many times and and my first staying at the Playa Coco.
I found all of the staff to be very friendly and attentive to ensuring that we enjoyed our stay and very helpful.
The nightly shows were great and the dancers put their hearts into their work and so much training is done to accomplish that. Special shoutout to Loiver for his friendliness and hospitality.
For my friend and I the best part of the Playa Coco is that it isn't too large, which means it is easy to get around without having to walk for ever. The rooms are close to all amenities, i.e. the beach, the buffet, the a la cartes, etc.
The room was clean and organized by the maids daily. Rooms were a good size.
We had a problem with the toilet on check-in (no water) so we went down to the lobby and within a half hour someone was there to fix it. So it shows they are there to help and service you as much as possible.
Didn't have that problem again. We had hot water entire week for showers.
The beach was beautiful.
Food was really good and love the snack bar for a quick sandwich, and there were a variety of beverages.
Overall, a great trip. I would visit this hotel again.

I spent there only 1 night but it was enough to explore it. This hotel has many small blocks with rooms up to second floor without a lift. So if you have a heavy suitcase – perhaps a driver will help you but it is not for sure. I asked for a help in the reception to take my suitcase down in the morning and driver did not show up on time so I had to carry it myself. Be prepared for it.
Hotel has a nice swimming pool, own beach with sunbeds and sandy entrance to the sea. The
view is amazing. There is not a long beach but enough for a short walk. There are not many amenities available on the beach. Mainly what hotel offers no bars, etc. It is still very wild landscape. Hotel is on all-inclusive basis. There serve plenty of delicious food and local drinks. Mainly they speak Spanish, not a lot of English. I would recommend this hotel if it is for one night or if you want to close yourself in a resort and relax in one place. WiFi is available in a lobby for 1 CUC for an hour.

Close to a gorgeous beach, this hotel is a very affordable Cayo Coco go-to. Liked that it was smaller and got to know people. Food was passable, always something you could enjoy. The staff go out of their way. The lobster at a la Carter for extra $20 was well worth it. Very clean and overall great holiday

This is a great place to relax have fun or venture out. We were there Feb 13-21 2020. The staff are truly awesome and make your time there a real pleasure.
It was 29 degrees all week and sunny, who could ask for anything better.
Our group of 13 got to the hotel late so we couldn't tell how far or close to the ocean, we had requested ocean front rooms but weren't sure we would get them. The rooms were a little musty smelling when we got in, but once we opened the room up the smell went away. We could hear the ocean and knew it was close. When we got up the next day, well all I have to say, anything that was or could go wrong was made up by the spectacular view of the ocean. Yes we got ocean front rooms.
The food was decent and if you went hungry it is your own darn fault. I did find that it was pretty much the same thing every day, but hey it is Cuba, you don't go for the food.
The entertainment was really great. There was the beach activities with lots of laughs at some of the antics they had with the games. The pool games were great fun, especially watching your 35 year old son go to rescue the princess to find out she had been replace by a prince (Alexis). The evening entertainment was always well done, from the choreography to the audience involvement. I really commend these guys they do great with what they have. I did realize that these people put a lot of hours rehearsing and no one thinks to give them tips or gifts.
The bartenders were great. We took a liking to George in the Ice Bar. He never failed to give you the best drinks. Always smiling and such a hard worker. He loves the (Hakuna Matata) saying. When we were on the bus to come home he was out there with his Hakuna Matata light flashing at us to say ciao for now. There were tears in some of our eyes.
I will go back whenever I can. I can see why a lot of people to return year after year.
Hotel Playa Coco you guys rock. See you next time.
