The Grand Aston Cayo Paredón Beach Resort is lauded for its cleanliness, with guests enjoying its pristine rooms and well-kept beaches, although some note challenges with towel replenishment. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with music and entertainment, caters well to families, though a few guests find the music overwhelming. While the rooms are modern with ocean views, there are sporadic mentions of housekeeping oversights. Its location earns praise for being close to attractions and the airport. Opinions on value and amenities vary, with some guests questioning the food and beverage variety and experiencing service delays, despite the overall commendable and friendly service.

This is the third time we've visited the Cayo Coco general area, with our two children, and new resorts each time. Our previous visits were pre-Covid. This resort is nice and new, very clean and modern, things seemed to work as they should, water was hot, etc.

Our room wasn't ready when got there as we arrived before lunch, but we checked out our assigned room location and weren't happy with it, we requested something else and the front desk staff were quick to accommodate us.

The beach was amazing, we never had a problem finding chairs or shade.
Pools were also amazing but at time did get busy and was more challenging to find some shade. If you wanted to be in the full sun you would not have a problem finding that.

The food could have been a big issue for some. There were shortages but I certainly never went hungry. The basics were available every day, lot's of salads, rice, beans, potatoes, pork. We had bread most days, cheese only one day. We heard people received al a carte reservation tickets upon check-in, we did not, and never did book one so can't comment on those. Snack bar was limited and available food changed by the hour. They always seemed to have fries and scattered availability of hamburgers, hotdogs, ham sandwiches, tuna sandwiches. The family pool area had crepes daily (request cinnamon sugar!) and sometimes hotdogs. The club B&R had a churro stand daily.

Bars and drinks were a challenge for me. Different bars had different availability and it was quite difficult to find any consistency, or a drink I could stick with. To my knowledge they never ran out of alcohol (other reviews reported shortages of vodka for example). There did seem to be shortages of mix but seemed to restock daily, just depended on your timing. The lobby bar seemed to have the most selection. If you are a beer drinker you should have nothing to worry about!

Overall we had an enjoyable week and it wasn't that different from our two previous vacations in the area. There are definitely some improvements that could be made but I think if you make an effort to manage your expectations and direct your attitude towards the positive then you will be ok. Go for the sun, pools, beach, clean/modern facilities, not the food. If you need or want something (clean room towels for example) make an effort to ask for it rather than complaining that somebody isn't reading your mind.

We travelled to Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort with expectations of a beautiful beach, cold drinks and down time. I can tell you that this resort exceeded expectations.

We chose the Club Level for the proximity to the beach and also we were intrigued with it's own pool and restaurant. The service from Laura, Rocio and Carlos was second to none 10++. Thank you xoxo. The food from "Candy" (sorry not sure of the spelling) was always prepared with care and delicious. The stand out was the lobster dinner - see pictures! But really all meals were good, thank you! Our room was always made up early in the day and water replenished daily. Enrique, the Manager of the resort, went out of his way to ensure our stay was everything we had hoped. Thank you!

The Resort itself is new, brand new, beautiful, spotless and quite grand. When we arrived there was a beautiful breeze blowing though and we could see the lobby bar just off to the right. Check in was quick and we were whisked away to our building in a golf cart. Although we did not have an "ocean"view room we had an ocean and pool view from our balcony. We had drinks every afternoon over looking the beautiful beach.

We rented scooters for a day and travelled to the Cayo Paredón Grande Light which is lighthouse but also on site is a spa and restaurant with other features opening soon. Here we had a delish fish and lobster meal and enjoyed the view and watching fishermen on the cliffs. After we ventured past the resort to a remote beach which we had all to ourselves - you don't need to take a scooter here you can walk it in less then 10 minutes.

We did a day trip to Pilar Beach and enjoyed a glass bottom boat ride, snorkeling, and yes, another lobster meal. Our tour guide Yunior from Hola Sun was excellent. Thank you!

The beach is beautiful - I think there is 7km from one end to the next. Beautiful turquoise water that is crystal clear. We had unbelievable weather.

The only disappointment with our stay was the lack of compassion and understanding some guests displayed to staff at the resort.

We look forward to returning the Grand Aston Cayo Paredon and seeing the smiling faces of our hosts.

Brian and Heather Elliott

We had the most amazing and relaxing vacation at the Grand Aston Paredon. The resort itself is worth every star earned (5 star in our opinion) It is a new resort which is immaculately maintained by every staff member. The landscapers, pool maintenance, cleaning staff, servers, chefs, entertainers, bar personnel, reception desk and housekeeping worked hard to ensure that our stay was an enjoyable one. Brian, Alexi, Orlando, Clay, Lea, Yadier, Hassan and dancers made us feel so welcomed! The resort has beautiful grounds, 3 gorgeous swimming pools and a swim up bar. The beach is pristine with turquoise blue water and white sand. Our rooms overlooked the ocean and the view every morning was breathtaking. There was ample seating at the beach and plenty of shaded areas to sit and enjoy a cold beer or pina colada. There is music, entertainment, dance lessons and food served at the beach. Food is also served at the buffet daily. Some food items are difficult to come by, so it’s important to be respectful and tolerant as staff work hard to please guests. Fruit like mangoes, papayas, guavas and pineapple were served daily with every meal. We had a la carte dinners at the Asian, Brazilian, Italian and Mexican restaurants, our favourite being the Mexican, although each restaurant had beautiful ambiance and excellent décor. There was live entertainment daily, the dancers practiced for several hours every day to put on a live show for the guests. The only downside of the vacation was the mosquitoes but this too improved towards the end of our stay as they sprayed the resort a couple of times a day to address the mosquito issue. We would definitely return to this resort in a heartbeat. A truly enjoyable 8 days!

We spent a week at this resort in the club level. Arrival was delayed due to Air Canada (flights are horrible and flight/counter staff) was not helpful at all. This is the only negative from this trip, the travel. Fly Sunwing or Transat direct!!

Now the resort! Wow, beautiful new resort just opened in November 2022. You walk into a beautiful lobby with many beautiful people to help once you arrive. We were treated like royalty the entire stay. We stayed in Bungalow 8, amazing ocean front room which includes a large shower with 2 rain water nozzles and a super deep bathtub which was heavenly. The bed was comfy and temperature and ceiling fan were ours to control. I like that!

In Club Level, you have your own private restaurant for all meals, room service and the amazing service provided by Rosie, Laura, José and others. The chef is very creative and always provides a very appealing and unique menu. The food at the Club Restaurant was always great! We had 2 concierges/entertainers that were there at all times to meet our needs and answer our questions/requests. Denise and Amel were always around and always wanted to help out. They were both great friends by the time we left.

The Club area also gave us our own infinity pool to hang at, ocean front as well. This was possibly the main reason why I am going back in April. The area was quiet and very comfortable. We always had someone looking in on us to ensure we had everything we needed (drinks, food etc). Enrique, the manager of the area, was also very helpful and always checked in with us.

We did tour the property which includes at least 3 other pools, a few snack and food areas (Snack Bar/Beach snack bar) - great hamburgers and fries at one and amazing fish and Cuban food at the beach snack bar. Raoul was set up on the beach with drinks for everyone, whether it was sparkling rose wine for me or Cubata (dark rum & cola) for Kevin. Not once did we feel we were missing something. The buffet is your typical buffet with a lot of dishes and choices available. The chocolate ice cream was there for my hubby’s sweet tooth almost every night.

Front the moment we arrived, the staff that took us to our room in the golf cart to the amazing people working at The Club restaurant (Rosie, Laura, José), our concierges (Denise & Amel), I can say without a doubt, this is one of the most amazing resorts I’ve been to and like I said, we were treated like kings and queens from the moment we arrived until the last day. Huge congratulations to all you, we are so grateful to all of you for making our trip so special. Can’t wait to go back in April!

This is definitely not a 4 or 5 star as advertised reasons:
Cons:
Nothing is posted so one has no idea what to expect for services, room condiments, etc. For example you only get beer and coffee in your room the first day , if want wine with your meals at the buffet restaurant you have to go to the store and purchase it at $10.00 a bottle US.
Only get water in the room the first day, otherwise you have to go to the front desk and beg for water everyday, as you cannot use the tap water. No hand soap is given for the bathroom. Bring your own.
The Sunwing representative only helps you book trips.+
Sunwing does not post your time of exit, so you have to come from the beach and wait on him to find out when the plane will be leaving. What a waste of time as all the other companies post the time they need you in the lobby to catch the bus home.
The buffet restaurant is kept so cold inside you have to wear a sweater or coat for every meal. The food on the buffet is always cold. Hardly ever had meat and no eggs for breakfast only omelets offered.
Desserts were the same dried out cake just decorated with different coloured icing. The good part was the ice cream, delicious.

Pros:
The best thing about this resort is the staff. They are so friendly, accommodating and helpful. They are the only reason this place could be possibly considered to be a 4 or 5 star.
The beach is beautiful and long. great for walks.
Lots of chairs and places to sit. No fighting for spots.
Lunch at the beach bar was well done. The people loved the pizza.
The 24 hour bar is excellent also.
We loved the lobby coffee and drink bar.

One of the best vacations ever. From the moment you get dropped off to the hotel you are greated with drinks and smiling faces. The hotel is new and CLEAN. The rooms were spacious and cleaned daily, the maid indtroduced herself and made sure we had everything we needed. The best part about this trip was the entertainment staff. Bryan, Alexis, Dennis and Carla were AMAZING!!! From the morning to the evening they are ready get you up and moving having a great time, always had a smile on their face and they were full of love. Mornings on the beach consisted of stretching, dance lessons, water activities, volleyball and many more games. The afternoon is when they did activities by the pool and try and beat bryan the ping pong master followed by entertainment in the lobby for the night. They are truly one of the main reasons we will be returning, a huge thank you goes out to them for always being in the best mood possible and always placing a smile on our faces, you guys are one of a kind.

Food was good. They had four different restaurants open at this time. Brazilian, Tex-Mex, Italian, and an Asian cuisine all were good, esspecially for Cuba. Tex-mex and Italian were my favourites. 24-hour snack bar was good. Beach bar and beach restaurant was amazing, the food for lunch there was the best.

Beach was cleaned daily from seaweed but as we went in the winter season so a bit more than usual as per the waves brining it to shore. Clear blue waters, and a short walk from the hotel or pool area! Great place to relax and socialize

Once again thank you to the most amazing staff ever you guys are considered are friends going forward and will see you soon!

I certainly can't complain about the resort itself. It's Cuba and there will be shortages to deal with, but the people usually make up for it. The issue is with the customer relations manager. Beach towels can only be picked up from 9-12, and 1 to 5. I arrived too early first, then came at noon and missed them. I then came back at 5 minutes to 5 and the person told me it was too late as he closed the door. I went to reception, and waited, but no one could help, so I was sent down the hall to the customer relations office. I waited another 10 minutes there only to be told that they couldn't help either. I explained how I tried to go several times, to which he implied I was lying. He said it was impossible that I got there before 5. To say I was flustered was an understatement. I asked if I could use the room towels, but was told I would be charged "very expensive" cleaning charge, and that I should just wait until tomorrow.

The hotel:
Very nice hotel, modern and clean. We had no problems with hot water, no electricity outages either. However, we had small ant-like insects in our room, a problem that didn't seem to be a recurring problem with others... The housekeeper, Maité, was kind and helpful and made sure we weren't missed. no bottled water.

Staff (department):
We were pleasantly surprised by the fast and pleasant service from the workers, a big thank you to Andy and Miguel at the reception, Yoelbi, Yunior and Roberto at the bar, always the first to serve us, always accompanied by a smile at the face. Then, we must highlight the great work of the animators; Dalielvys, Laura-Sophia, Yanlys, Roberto, who brought their good energy everywhere, both at the swimming pool and at the beach; discos, competitions with prizes, Zumba, beach volleyball and more. Unfortunately, the entertainment stops after 11am (especially the music), because it is a family resort :( we would have liked to have been able to stay up later, but besides that it was perfect.

Food:
I have to admit that the buffet disappointed us, even though our expectations were not high to begin with. Great lack of fruits and vegetables, almost all fruits are canned. We only had potatoes for one day and the meat (beef) was almost inedible. However, we could be satisfied with the snack bars which offered very good sandwiches, pizza (long queue, around 1 hour), soup, pancakes, hot dogs and fries (sometimes). For lunch, we had omelettes, but not much variety in terms of pastries and breads (only white bread). For dessert in the evening, there were no cakes during our week (not one day), just ice cream. Feel free to bring condiments such as: peanut butter, spreads, ketchup, mustard, etc. Be careful for soft drink drinkers, Coca Cola is powdered and is quite rare. However, the à la carte restaurants (Mexican, Italian, Brazilian and Asian) offered varied menus that were quite appetizing for some. The only issue is that you would only be entitled to a limited number of reservations (2-3 per week).

Beach and swimming pool:
The beach is absolutely stunning and spacious, perfect for long walks. Overall, the sand is white and clean, several chairs and umbrellas are available, but don't wait until dinner time to get there, as spots fill up quickly. The water is clear and around 25 degrees, which made our swims very pleasant. The site has several swimming pools, both for the oldest and the youngest. These are well maintained and spacious as well.

In short, we loved our stay at the Grand Aston Cayo Paredon and we want to return soon! Thank you to the whole team for this memorable vacation week! :)

I don't write a lot of reviews but reading a lot of them. This time I felt compelling to share my experience, since I was so scared coming to the resort.
We are group of 13 and I booked this trip by mistake - long story sigh. In any case it did cost way less than 2k per person, where trips to any English speaking island was 2,3 times more, hence my title review...
The resort is brand new, rooms are nicely decorated, clean with comfortable beds. The toilet is separated from the bathroom, which is ok, but the (kinda) open view of the bathroom can cause the privacy issue. If you are traveling with the friend or someone you are not so comfortable. Pools are clean, lots of space (the hotel is working at 20% maybe capacity). The checkout was quick and very pleasant. If you have the room with the ocean view, it is exactly that, you overlooking pools and see the ocean. The beach has enough beds and umbrellas, it is still work in progress, there are some rocks in the water, you have to be a bit careful going in, not a big deal, rocks are visible.
Bars are serving more than ok drinks, mojito, cuba libre, beers, coffees they are there. Served with the real drinks (not no name vodka, rum, whiskey) and in the real glassware, not cheap plastic cups, very nice.
Food, it is what you are make out of it. For me, as long as I can have papaya, pineapple, pears, apples, etc I am good. Not all restaurants are open so I can't comment on everything. I am still at the resort as I write this.
From all people working at the resort i received smiles and pleasant respond on my simple OLA. Lots of young people working at the resort. I like there are no hustlers and actually, you can enjoy your vacation time.
Trips are available from the resort, catamaran, jeep safari, deep sea fishing, visit to Moron, etc...
Golf cart or 2.5k walk will take you to the light house and small plaza with the spa and some shops - unfortunately, when we went there there was nothing open, except the spa.
Overall, I am glad we ended up at the resort. For the money spend, 100% deserves 5 stars.

Just got back from a very underwhelming week stay at this new resort. It's a smaller resort that lacks many amenities and variety(Not even a gift shop). Buffet and snack bars offered very limited choices and often pork and chicken were not cooked thoroughly. Rice was undercooked and hard. Beef was not offered, nor were any lettuce and tomatoes and etc. A la carte restaurants were not good at all. Brazilian and Asian restaurants were pretty terrible and weren't representing of the cuisine. Shrimp was offered during one buffet meal but otherwise just lamb, pork, fish and chicken.
Rooms were clean and cool with lockers but lacked drainage in our shower and bathroom area. No coffee maker or microwave available to prepare baby formula. You will need to go to the main bar to get hot water. You will receive one large bottle of water in your room per day but can always get more at the main reception if needed.
The evening shows were pretty lack luster with generally just one performance along with a kids show. There is a Lighthouse nearby that the you can get carted to and back. Not much there yet as the area is still developing. Don't expect to leave the resort and do much as there is nothing around the area at the moment. The closest town is not close by at all.
Go to this resort if you prefer to stay within the property. It is safe for kids with a separate kids area and pool. The beach is a little rocky in some spots but close enough to walk to from your room. The staff are generally friendly and inviting however there are opportunities for improvement

Tip: Bring your loonies and toonies for tips. Fresh American bills are preferred but not needed as you will lose on the exchange
