Great staff and food the service was brilliant and the hotel stay was amazing real nice deco comfy beds. great breakfast- also great walks local to the pub also allows dogs. Not far from Preston and Blackburn.
I stayed at the Millstone yesterday with my husband and little dog. Totally faultless, great place to stay, friendly staff, great evening meal, excellent breakfast, even sausages for little Oreo! Cheers to Mike and the team for looking after us so well, can't wait to return 😀
We booked out the Millstone for our close wedding party for our wedding we recently had in the area. All the staff (Olivia, Erol and the rest) were so helpful from start to finish. From helping allocate different rooms to different guests and sorting out meal times and accommodating any special wedding requests we had and going above and beyond for us. They helped make everything as stress free as possible and made the whole wedding experience extra special. It was clean, great rooms, great food and great staff. Couldn't fault anything, top marks all round. Thanks so so much 😊
We are locals and used to dine here frequently but then stopped when there was change in staff and reviews had gone downhill. We were very reluctant to come back, but I’m so glad we did as it was fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious with very generous portions. Well worth a visit- well done to all involved in getting it back to it’s former glory- we can’t wait for our next visit!
Lovely hotel , beautiful rooms and comfy bed. Breakfast was amazing, would go back for another stay . Nice location with pleasant surroundings for walks etc. Staff very attentive and food piping hot . The rooms were high standard and very clean . Wish we could have stayed longer .
Stayed for one night with my daughter. We booked the suite and it was beautiful and very spacious. Whilst there we had an evening meal which was delicious and could not be faulted. A special shout out to the Assistant Manager Damian and Team-leader Erol who delivered excellent customer service and were so welcoming to myself and my daughter. They are a credit to the business . Would definitely stay again!
We stayed for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding in the area. Mellor is a countryside location just outside Blackburn. The hotel has some history and is 'quirky'/shabby chic in parts. Part of a hotel group - Thwaites. We chose the most affordable room which was atop the building on the 2nd floor and quite small. Staircases were steep and required careful negotiating. Didn't see a lift. Bed was comfortable and size apart, the room was fine. Good shower. No wardrobe - just a hanging space. Shortbread biscuits replenished daily and good selection of tea/coffee beverages. No fridge - but fresh milk is available in a flask at the bar. No safe.. Only real niggle was the local church bells which chime on the hour and each quarter. Last pealing is at 11pm and starts again at 6am - very loud and not sure how the locals tolerate it! Restaurant is popular and menu looked comprehensive - but we only ate breakfast which was excellent on both days. The cooked 'full english' is highly recommended. Service throughout was very good. Overall, a pleasant stay and if in the area again, we would revisit. Happy to recommend...........but those bells!!…
We really felt welcome at this hotel & the bar area had a lovely atmosphere when we entered.. We had travelled from the southwest for a family gathering on the Sunday. Mellor is a quiet & pleasant Lancashire village & this public house is the Thwaites flagship establishment with a sense of pride which comes across with the attentive staff. On arrival we were quite weary & looking forward to our dinner so we went directly to our ground floor room (23) along the corridor & instead of showering decided to head back to the bar as the room was a bit cold. It was a smart clean room with a lovely Hypnos bed but if you want a bright room with a view it wouldn’t suit you. The bathroom was simple, spotless with a not very powerful rain shower & hand shower attachment. A very charming member of staff came over to us after I mentioned the chill in room & put a heater in for us whilst we were having a drink in the bar. He mentioned something about an engineer coming. Dinner was lovely with friendly service staff. If I book again I’ll ask for a table in the main bit of the restaurant where there looked to be more atmosphere. We got a dinner b&b rate for £135 for the night & it was worth every penny .. great food & super breakfast! For a last minute it was a lucky find on a busy Saturday & we will stay again but would hope for an upper floor room with a more modern bathroom .. need a stronger shower please.. Just one more thing which isn’t anything against the meticulous cleaning that obviously takes place here but the strong smell of disinfectant in the bedroom reminded me a lot of my late mothers care home & it lingered even after I opened the window so not sure what happened here? Maybe just an association I have but it affected my enjoyment a bit. Lovely checkout & a great team of people keeping this place popular. As I said we will return whenever we are visiting our friends & family in the North as it’s the nicest food, service & comfort we’ve ever had in the area & we’ve stayed at a lot of places ! 👏👏…
This is a great little hotel in a quiet picturesque village. Very high standard of fittings in the rooms, amazing staff and great evening meal. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are thinking of a stop off before the lakes or the dales. We stayed in room 42 which was very spacious with walk in rainfall shower great water pressure also.
Just returned from a night away at The Millstone. I chose this Hotel due to the reviews on trip advisor and it is a great place to stay. The room was the character room and it was a lovely, clean room. Only downside was no fridge to keep your drinks cool and every time someone else opened the doors to their rooms it made our door make a loud thudding noise, not the worst thing but late at night it gets a bit annoying and sounds as though someone is trying to get into your room. We ate in the restaurant and the evening meal was delicious, both the wife and I were in agreement that the starter, main and dessert was one of the best meals we have eaten. Now for breakfast and after the night before, were the evening meal was fantastic we were expecting a lovely breakfast. The wife enjoyed her eggs benedict, although one eggs was runny, the other hard boiled!!!! Now for mine and I was really disappointed, I ordered the poached eggs on toast. It arrived with one slice of toast, one egg again was runny and the other hard boiled, not sure what the chef was thinking!!! but was really expecting a lovely breakfast after the meal the previous night but it did'nt happen. Now take this with a pinch of salt as I am the kind of person to park the furthest away from the supermarket entrance, the car park is a bit tight, not many spaces and if you arrive back late on in the evening you may have to park on the main road. I do look after my car and spaces are tight but I am probably in the minority with this so will not be an issue for many. Lastly to the young lady who served us during our stay in the restaurant, she is a credit to the hotel, really pleasant and polite as were all the staff we encountered. I asked the wife if she would stay again and it was a resounding yes but she did mention she wasn't happy with what I received for breakfast, and mentioned the thudding noise of the door. As for me I would also return, would be even better if the little niggles could be sorted but not a deal breaker. If you book I don't think you will be disappointed.…
