A very welcoming and friendly hotel. This hotel has character and the rooms are kept extremely clean. Breakfast was really good using quality produce. I loved the little courtyard and enjoyed the odd glass of wine out there as it was so peaceful and quiet. On our last day we explained to the owner that we were leaving very early the next morning and it would be before breakfast. They made a sandwich and gave some fruit, and yogurt for our journey home and a glass of orange juice. I personally thought that was an indication of how well they looked after their guests. I cannot fault this hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Room 11: King Room. Arrived about 15:00 ran a bath of lukewarm water. Popped the bubbles/aerator on in the bath and that worked for five minutes. The owner said he wasn't used to people being around in the afternoon so usually kept the boiler off. Apparently he was planning to put it on for my arrival but forgot. Told me it would heat up in ten minutes. Twenty minutes later it was the same. I gave up and tried an hour later and it was hot. He thought the aerator might have tripped a switch and said he'd check. The bubbles did work an hour later but again switched off after a while and wouldn't re-start. On check-in I was asked what time I'd be having breakfast. I said 09:00 (which was the latest) but in the event didn't go instead opting to sleep in. I'll try it tomorrow. I don't really want to be booking a specific time for breakfast though. There are only 12 rooms I think, why can't I just turn up when I feel like in most hotels? Tonight I've noticed that the carpet in the bedroom near the steps down to the bathroom is soggy. I get dried in the bathroom so it's not dripped off me. Somewhere, there is a leaking underfloor pipe. Yesterday I noticed it too but properly checked it out today. This is more minor but the toilet roll is very very cheap. As are the dispenser bottles of bodywash/handwash. On the plus side there's a fridge. The room is a bit shabby around the edges and pretty small given it's (I think) the second best room. I spent two hundred on a two night stay and I definitely wouldn't again. I usually love independent places but wish I'd booked the Premier Inn. Quite frankly the owners are out of their depth and charging too much. Anywhere else I'd be complaining but I doubt the capacity of these owners to even understand what they're doing wrong, so I will have my breakfast tomorrow, smile and check out. I would imagine this place is for mainlanders like me who haven't done their research properly.…
Just enjoyed our first catch-up since the pandemic with an old friend on the Isle of Wight and, as well as superb weather, we were fortunate enough to find this gem of an hotel right in the centre of the island. The room was clean and had everything we could have asked for, Hendrick and the staff were great and the breakfasts were superb. We will definitely be back, and would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone.
We have had a good five night stay at Newport Quay Hotel. Hendrick and the staff made us feel at home and welcome, they couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was excellent, good portions, all one could ask for even marmite for the toast!!. Special thanks to Judy.
I stayed for 3 nights in a single room which was clean and tidy. I was traveling on a motorcycle and wanted to explore the island. There was free parking for motorbikes just outside the B&B. The location was great, the service, breakfast and overall experience was very good. I would definitely stay there again.
Booked at last minute as the previous b&b was a nightmare. Central location, lovely hosts , very clean room, quiet inspite of central location, paid parking nearby, Simple but nice breakfast- cooked to order- little chance for food waste, great service, friendly staff. Grade2 listed building, rooms of different sizes, not modern but your stay will be pleasant . The hosts Hendrick and Ethel, and the staff will make you feel welcomed unlike some places where you get good looking rooms but tired and appalling attitude and no service- literally. Much recommended
Lovely stay with friendly staff. Every morning we would be greeted by lovely staff and owners for breakfast which a great veggie option. The room was clean and the hotel itself was lovely. Would recommend to anyone staying in Newport.
We stayed for 2 nights and I could only praise the service provided -nice, clean, very friendly and all at a good price. Highly recommended. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. If on the island of Wight, then definitely the Newport Quay Hotel will be the place to stay.
Nothing but praise for this establishment- everything was excellent. Were given a very hospitable welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. Particularly appreciate them allowing us to drop our ruck sacks off before check in so we could wander around Newport without a heavy load. Breakfast was plentiful and very prompt. Our room was absolutely fine.
We stayed at this Bed and Breakfast having two rooms. Our son had a triple bed room, all beds being full three foot wide and a massive bathroom. He had a small fridge and looked out over the side of the hotel. Our room had a double bed, was very small, but we were warned about the size, as I wanted a shower rather than a bath. At the time of booking I had had a hip replacement. Our shower room was very small also, but did have everything you needed. For breakfast the owner was very accommodating, towards what the two children wanted for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful as were the owners. The Newport Quay is ideally situated for the town and restaurants and of course Newport is in more or less in the centre of the Island. There is a lovely little lounge to sit in, if you don't want to use your room. A quaint little place with character.…
