Booked for one night at The Old Church House and what a lucky find. We arrived a little earlier than expected but we had a very warm welcome from the owner. She gave us a choice of rooms and we chose the twin room which was spacious and comfortable. We were then asked if we would like a cup of tea a very welcome gesture. The house is comfortable and it feels like you are staying with a friend rather than a cold B&B or a soulless chain hotel. The location is great for Newport town and there are plenty of places locally to choose from for evening meal. The breakfast the next morning was lovely, very nice quality ingredients for the cooked breakfast and all perfectly cooked. The dining room is very pleasant and surrounded with interesting curios displayed in a very tasteful way. Would certainly recommend and would stay again. Excellent value for money as well.

Really lovely stay for the 4 of us. Bedroom was spacious, clean and super comfortable. Julie was the most accommodating hostess, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious. Location was great. Would highly recommend.

The Old Church House is located in Crocker Street. It's a 5-10 minute walk away from Newport bus station on foot. My room was most comfortable with en suite facilities including shower but not bath. Tea and coffee making facilities were supplied as well as a large bottle of water. Breakfast in the morning was home cooked and very enjoyable. The owners were most friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay here again when next in Newport. Cost was £70 for one night including breakfast.

John and Julie are two of the most warm people I have ever met bar none. nothing was too much and just kept giving and giving and giving. so polite always a smile ,breakfast to die for and if I had stayed longer probably would have killed me lol, great portions top quality and just and and receive . YOU WILL NOT meet to nicer people.beds top quality and great night sleep and that's from a very fussy customer when it comes to beds. felt like I had known them for years.well equipped rooms top speed internet very fast.john and Julie don't change a thing it works well and you should both be very proud . arrived a customer and felt like a friend when we left 11/10 for me many many many thanks for making a very bad situation in to a bearable love lovey stay with support and comfort. we arrived very very last minute and got the best b+b we could have asked for thanks again to you both .

Had a wonderful time at this quirky, fabulous b and b! Ideally situated for the centre of Newport and also for visiting anywhere on the island! The owners were fantastic, so friendly and helpful! They made us feel very much at home and we were sorry to leave!

We were so glad to move in here having had two frustrating days at the Osborne House Hotel in East Cowes, which was twice the price and not nearly as good in many ways. At last we had proper internet connection, whereas where we stayed previously I think semaphore would have been more useful. Everything was as you would expect, from comfortable beds to excellent breakfasts and friendly hosts. Yes, we will consider booking in here again on future Island trips. They know how to look after visitors.

Really lovely place and the hosts were fantastic. No problem with onsite parking; delicious breakfast as early as you'd like. I'll happily recommend it to anyone feeling like staying in place with some history and soul.

We stayed in Room 3 for five nights in July 2017 to attend a family wedding. We found the hosts, Julie & John, very pleasant and had loads of local knowledge. The room was very clean and tidy, the food was very good, the wi-fi worked well and there was free parking as well. When we go back to the IOW again we will definitely stay there again and we would recommend the b&b to everyone. I was flabbergasted by the last review and after my personal experience at the OCH I wondered whether she actually stayed in the same place as me !!!! Certainly John is a larger than life character but he was certainly not rude or aggressive during our stay. I would certainly take her comments with a large bucket of salt. And we booked our room tbrough Booking.com in January and payment for our stay was not mentioned until the last day of our stay. Definitely highly recommended.
