Lute Suites is a combination of visionary hotel and restaurant that takes design and cuisine to heights not normally associated with Holland's bucolic hinterlands. Acclaimed Dutch chef Peter Lute has teamed up with star interior designer Marcel Wanders to create an unusual collection of luxury suites overlooking the river Amstel. Transformed from 18th-century workers cottages into bastions of high contemporary design, each suite's look is completely different and has its own character and features surprising details. The obsessive attention to enriching the interior is a reflection of Wanders' goal for the complex: to surprise, to delight, and to elicit a strong emotional response. What LUTE SUITES guests can depend on are modern kitchenettes, a private wine/champagne cabinet, sleek baths and breakfast delivered (on request) to the door. Two multi-functional boardrooms for private dining and stimulating meetings link the suites to the sophisticated French-oriented cuisine of the renowned LUTE restaurant. At LUTE SUITES, guests enjoy complete freedom in a homely environment for short and longer stays.

Far from Amsterdam. Negotiating public transportation was a challenge. Air conditioning leaked into my suitcase due to lack of space for third guest to hang or store anything. View was of a road a few feet away from the kitchen window. Ouderkerk a/d Amstel was nice to walk to......

Ok, this was the coolest hotel room I think i will ever enjoy. So incredibly clean, super friendly service, but ... THE ROOM!! walk in to a very modern living room-upstairs to the beautiful tub/shower with a teak floor and the most amazing amenities-Hermes ,and a whole bag of samples from La Prairie. You cannot imagine how original the loft bedroom is in suite 5... An incredible 10 course tasting menu was included in the room rate, which is what Lute is all about. A perfect ending to a 2nd honeymoon-GO!!

Modern in design located in traditional dutch surroundings, these 'suites' are really more like boutique apartments. Located on the river (with a view) they are just outside of central Amsterdam, which make the the perfect retreat after a busy day in the city. Our evening in the restaurant is what made the trip so memorable. We were invited to sit at the 'chef's table' in the kitchen. We were lucky it was free. I suggest reserving it. (Handsome chef Peter Lute's creations are delicious and he is there to prepare and oversee everything. Each course impossibly better than the next! all paired with the perfect wines) For breakfast they deliver the "Lute Box" and fresh OJ / Milk. It was like opening a present every morning. Fresh breads, eggs, fruit, cheese.... Yummy. There is a well stocked wine/soda bar and a kitchenette including a coffee maker, kettel, stove, sink etc.....tucked behind big doors. Very practical. We were in suite 4 which had a shower with double showerheads and wood-slatted floors. Tres cool. Friendly, clean (and the next level in boutique destinations.)
