My husband and I along with our 5 year old daughter stayed at the resort for 4 nights.

The hotel has been very well refurbished recently and offers a very calming and stylish environment.

The hotel appears to attract a more senior generation, and as such it isn’t overly child-friendly although this suits our family as we prefer a quieter stay. There is a small kids club, which is essentially a room with simple activities / colouring etc - more suitable for young children. The lady didn’t speak great English but was able to communicate with our daughter well enough and even took her down to the beach one day to catch fish.

The location is great, with the most enviable sunset, and just 10 minutes walk from both the beach and harbour.

Our room was great, with a terrace and sun loungers. The air conditioning takes some getting used to as I believe it’s designed to be eco friendly and therefore slowly cools down the room rather than blasting our cold air as you would typically find in a hotel.

The food at the hotel was excellent, we are well travelled and this hotel had some of the best quality food we’ve experienced at hotel buffets/dinners. Items could be better labelled however. We stayed half board and each dinner was wonderful, a salad buffet followed by a la carte soup, starter and main, then buffet dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely 2 hour meal’s watching the incredible sunset. Service on the whole was faultless save for one evening where we waited 30 minutes for our wine to be delivered after much miscommunication between staff.

The spa is fantastic and clearly brand new, as is the gym. You must try the ice-cold plunge pool!

There is an excellent pool bar & restaurant, with various seating options all of which are comfy and aesthetically pleasing. The prices are on the higher side, which is probably why of an evening most venture out to the local bars and unfortunately this causes a lack of atmosphere. This I feel should be addressed. They have entertainment each night, all of whom are very good, so it is a shame when there are barely a dozen people there. I’ve seen plenty of bars packed out with inferior entertainment.

I hope to stay again in the future and will monitor how it evolves after its first season post refurb and 5 star status.

This was my third visit to Universal Hotel Don León. It is a lovely hotel situated on the seafront, with great food and very friendly and attentive staff. I visited at a time when Europe was just beginning to emerge from the pandemic and people were just starting to take holidays again, and it felt very safe at this hotel. It was evident during my stay, that a lot of care had been taken to keep the guests and staff safe - with social distancing measures, face coverings by staff, good ventilation and plentiful hand sanitizers in common areas.

I was half board, and the food was great, with lots of cooked and continental breakfast choices; and 5 course (yes 5 course!) evening meals - if you include the salads and the deserts.

I can’t state enough how lovely and friendly all the staff were – from the reception staff through to the restaurant and bar staff. As on my previous stays, I found all the staff to be genuinely friendly and professional, and despite being a fairly large hotel, it did not feel impersonal as you sometimes find in similar size places. This friendliness, plus my great room, the cleanliness and general ambience of the hotel, made for a really wonderful stay at Universal Don León. The welcoming bottle of Cava in my room when I arrived, plus the daily free bottles of mineral water were additional nice touches.

Colonia de Sant Jordi, where is hotel is located, is a relatively quiet place and doesn’t have a rowdy nightlife, so it’s probably not the holiday place for party animals. There are however many restaurants and bars in the town and a friendly and social evening atmosphere. The town is close to some of Mallorca’s best beaches, the most notable ones being “Es Trenc” which is about a 40 minute walk away from the hotel, and “Es Carbo”, which is about the same distance in the other direction, and there are a few smaller beaches in between both.

I should say that the majority of guests at Universal Don León are German, but this should not deter English-speaking visitors, as I felt well catered for at the hotel, and all the guests (mainly couples and young families) were polite and friendly.

I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. It’s great value for money and I would definitely stay there again.

I have been to this hotel several times and have so far never been disappointed with the service, friendliness of the staff, cleanliness and comfort. In this year covid 19, all hygienic and safety measures are high priority at the hotel.

Thank you to all staff for making my stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

The newly renovated hotel is beautiful and the staff very kind. Buffet breakfast starts at 7:30am each morning and the waiters will tell you the daily specials to order. Our room was on the smaller side but they do have bigger room types. We originally asked to upgrade but they were full and by the next day, we got used to the size. AC doesn’t get as cold as we’re used to in the United States, but again we eventually got acclimated to the warmer room temps. Bring your water bottle from home and refill it for free (perfect for a day out on the beach). Pool restaurant served great drinks and they looked like they had live music too. Dinner was yummy but def explore the nearby towns. Highly recommend this place, especially with free parking and close to Es Trenc.

What a lovely hotel! We stayed early May as a couple for four nights and had a fantastic time. Everything about the hotel was great - the rooms were excellent and well equipped, the hotel was fabulously clean and the spa was wonderful. As it was shoulder season the weather was a bit mixed but the indoor spa was a wonderful place to relax and have a swim which was great. It was always immaculate with fresh towels and lots of amenities including steam room, sauna and cold plunge (I also appreciated the jacuzzi bubbles in the pool as I could enjoy them while pregnant!). It also never felt crowded, with lots of loungers and day beds, as well as a lovely relaxation room.
The restaurant was fabulous, facing towards the sunset so we could enjoy it every evening. The breakfast buffet was vast and all excellent, as was dinner. We enjoyed ordering from the menu which was included, so we could have pancakes/eggs benny at breakfast, as well as the vast range of options in the buffet. For dinner, the salad bar was huge and plentiful, as were the desserts and cheese, and the four a la carte options for starters and mains were a good mix and delicious every night. I was pregnant and there was lots of choice for me which was great. We also enjoyed lunch at Bacaro which was also delicious. Evening entertainment (usually a pianist) in the bar was an unexpected bonus. Our room with the private pool was lovely (as expected it was a bit chilly at this time of year!) and had a great terrace with a day bed to relax on, with views of the sea. We also really appreciated complimentary drinks on arrival and the daily snacks in our rooms. The highlight was the staff who were so friendly and welcoming, and who provided 5* service by being so attentive throughout our stay, and all with a smile. The whole vibe of the hotel was warm and welcoming. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would like to thank all the staff for a fabulous time.

We had a very good six days in July. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was very clean and newly refurbished. The breakfast was good and the hotel was a short walk to several good restaurants if you wanted to go out for dinner. We went to the Spa on most days, which was also clean and newly refurbished. It was very hot when we stayed and the Spa was a good option for a couple of hours every day. It is a nice low rise collection of buildings. The outside bar area is very relaxed with good views. The hotel is not directly on a beach but a short walk from several and next to a platform into the sea so you can either swim in the sea or the pool. I would go back there.

We are on our last day here and we’ve loved staying at this hotel. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. We stayed here with two friends (a couple) and our son who is 4 - he loved the pool.
The room was so lovely and cleaned often, fridge well stocked and drinking water on tap whenever we needed out in the lobby.
The hotel was sparkling clean at all times.
The poolside bar is nice and even the communal areas toilets are decorated lovely.
The highlight was for sure the breakfast - sooo much selection and different every day. The pastries were amazing.

Overall couldn’t be more satisfied with the trip and we would definitely come back.

Superb comfortable hotel.
Had a lovely stay with friends.
Stayed in room with Solarium near pool with nice personal outside space.
Beautiful comfortable clean room.
Hotel is relaxingly quiet but probably as still only June.
Very good breakfast selection and evening buffet is delicious and of high quality.
Amazing helpful staff especially when our flights got cancelled late one night and we had no where to stay.
Due to recent renovations the hotel generously offered us eur100 imperfections discount even though the ‘imperfections’ were hardly noticeable.

Junior suite was very spacious. Large room, large shower and huge terrace.
Breakfast had everything you could possibly want.
Everything was very clean.
Pool area not at all crowded - I could always get sunbed and shade.
Very good location for bus (to Palma) , beaches and restaurants , shops.
Only downside was having only one pod for the coffee machine. You could purchase more from reception.
Reception very helpful at all times.
