I love this hotel, so forgive me if my review is a bit gushing! And sorry for the length too!

Everything about this place is good, but it's the staff who really make it stand out. Every single person we encountered, from bar and restaurant staff to cleaning and maintenance people, was friendly and helpful.

Food: breakfast is an all you canneat buffet and has a wide variety. Most of the guests are German so you can expect a good selection of cold meats (the local cameiot is my favourite) and cheeses, and lots of different types of bread. Also plenty of fresh fruit (including the best oranges I've ever eaten), typical cooked breakfast with deliciously crispy bacon, an omelet station where they will make you an omelet to order, a couple of types of cereal. The cooked breakfast had a couple of surprises .. brussels sprouts one day, churros the next. Coffee is from a machine, and if you hunt you'll find the one which does decaff.

Dinner is a multi-course affair. First is the extensive salad buffet, next you choose from 2 soups (one hot and one cold .. don't miss the salmorejo), then you choose from.a couple of starters, then your choice of main, and finish with dessert buffet. No coffee.

Our room (108) had a balcony with a sea view .. I think all the rooms probably do face the sea. Very clean and comfortable. Occasional water pressure issues to be expected in such a dry place. Pod coffee machine in the room, pods (aka capsules) from reception at €1 each. Safe in the room was free. Fridge in the room too.

Pool always immaculate and warm. Good poolside shower was very welcome too. Thick towels available from reception for a deposit (which they take off your final bill).

We actually spent more time at the beach than the pool .. sandy beaches a short walk away. Some have quite a thick click of black seaweed at the ahoreline ... just move on to the next bit of beach for clear turquoise water which is seawees free. Beware a few rocks under the sandy floor .. you can see them through the clear water so make sure you pay attention and dont stub your toe!

They are environmentally conscious with a refillable glass caraf in the room for filling from the chiller in reception, also refillable glass water bottles for €3.50 in the restaurant (you don't get to keep the bottle .. that's extra. And you can't bring your own water to the restaurant). They change neither bedding nor towels unless you signal that you want them to.

We stayed 11 nights in the hotel. The lobby has a nice interior and the reception staff is very friendly, especially Montse. The check in and check out was very good. The breakfast offers hot and cold dishes. Maybe you can add some fresh fruit like fresh cut watermelon, grapes, banana etc. Not only kiwi and grapefruit. There is a good variety of bread.
The view from the room and the pool are amazing. Direct sea view. Only 10 minutes by foot to the lovely beach es trenc. You can get fresh towels every day at reception and even umbrellas for the beach. Also it is convenient to fill the water bottle every day.

Housekeeping is very friendly and they clean the room very well. Every day everything was spotless clean. If we needed some some body lotion we got it on the spot.
The hotel lobby pool side etc is as well very clean.

Regarding the room: the standard room is small, it has a very good AC, the bathroom is missing a shelve to put the toiletries. The rubbish bin in the bathroom needs replacement it is rusted. The balcony is very spacious.

The gym is outdated.

The bar staff needs to be trained. Every time there was something wrong with the order. Either something missing or something was mixed up like we wanted Cava with orange juice but we got beer with orange juice ?

The sunsets from the beach directly in front of the hotel are amazing. The breakfast waiters are very smily and friendly.

I think it is a bit too much to ask one Euro for a print out of two pages on recycled paper.

We will recommend the hotel since the location is perfect and the staff very friendly.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your feedback. Regarding the fresh fruits on the morning buffet we would like to inform you that we have daily fresh honeymelon, watermelon and a fruitmix - if you would have let us known during your stay we would have been very glad to show you. The price to print out pages is only to limit the needless waste of paper. We apologise for any inconveniences this may have caused. We will consider your opinion and are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We really do hope to welcome you again soon! Best regards, Directora Universal Hotel Cabo Blanco

A very beautiful hotel in a quiet location, absolute relaxation. The smaller hotel in Colonia de s. Jordi is located right by the sea on a rocky cliff. Cozy rooms, everything new, clean, friendly staff, mostly older clientele or couples, everywhere quiet, calm, absolute relaxation.
Access to the sea by a ladder from the rock or a beautiful beach approx. 300m away. Center with restaurants and shops approx. 500m.
Great breakfast, selection of specialties, eggs etc...
If you want to relax, switch off and be at peace, I definitely recommend it.

OK this is a hard one.

We haven't stayed in a Universal Hotel before so didn't know what to expect. This hotel is spotlessly clean (even cleaner than many 5*) but it had just had a refurb. We had previously stayed in the Villa Chiquita up the road and that had a slightly warmer feel about it, more what we are used to. The area is on the rocks which is fine as beaches are within a 20 min walk and this is not a beach holiday passe more of a relaxing break type place.

Our seaview non-premium room was hellishly small with no room for cases or to walk at the end of the bed.

The atmosphere is very odd but I would put this down to every single guest,,, EVERY single guest apart from us being German or German speaking. I found the guests (all over 60) to be extremely rude (No Xenophobia intended) to the point of snatching utensils out of my hands and jumping queues for the coffee machine. No smile was exchanged when offered, it was all rather odd. I would say bare this in mind if you like to chat in the queue for things or don't want a kind of Care home vibe. I am 55 and it stilled seemed very old for me. One old man felt evey loaf with bare hands before deciding which one to cut for his breakfast. The strange vibe was kind of emphacised by the very odd barman/front of house Enrique who we felt was really patronising and even a ordering a drink was too much.

We are please we hired a car to leave the hotel every day as the vibe wasn't welcoming. Be aware though there is NO local parking nearby/spaces on road always taken.

HOWEVER...

The manager Susanne Wagner was an absolute delight and seemed to be doing most of the work if I am being honest. Its such a shame to see somebody so professional being let down but she is new to the hotel so I am sure well established team will work to her standard soon. Also the receptionist on check out was also outstanding.

I wouldn't stay again but then I wouldn't stay in Colonia Sant Jordi again as when it rains it is quite grim. An indoor pool would help massively as the outside pool looked too dirty to use (oct is prob end of season clean due).

We loved this hotel from the moment we arrived. It is out of the way in a part of the island we have visited many times. It has beautiful views and sunsets with easy access to the rugged coast and excellent swimming. Meals are prepared individually, unlike many other hotels, and served at the table to a really high standard. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended for those looking for a quiet and classy break.

Thank you very much everyone at Cabo Blanco. Susan (hotel director) leads a very professional team of staff in this lovey, stylish hotel. Immaculately clean, friendly and excellent choice of food. It’s obvious these guys take a lot of pride in what they do and enjoy looking after their guests. All the staff are excellent but special thanks to Carlos, Jesus ( chefs), the amazingly attentive waiting staff and the kitchen team. Also Katrina, reception staff and extremely busy cleaners! We are looking forward to returning again next May & September 2023.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The hotel staff were attentive, the views were amazing and it was perfect if you just wanted to get away for some relaxation. There was a storm one night and some of the sun loungers broke, but the staff fixed them all by the next morning. The breakfast was great with many options. There are several beaches a few minutes walk away. I would highly recommend.
Plus a bonus was no kids were allowed!

What makes this hotel special is the friendly staff - very impressed. Good eco initiatives - no plastic bottles, very good and well priced food. Two suggestions - turn down the music so guests can relax at the pool and better coffee for breakfast but generally a nice clean relaxed hotel.

Spent 5 nights here, the rooms were in excellent condition and were well cleaned, perhaps aircon a bit weak.
The restaurant was excellent, nicely presented meals, good choice for coeliacs.
Staff were helpful, in a quiet location but resort in general quiet.
Nice sandy beaches a few minutes walk away. Good value too

It was a very pleasent stay. The whole stuff is extremely friendly. The room was very nice too. We only booked breakfast, which turned out to be a mistake since there aren‘t a lot of good restaurants near. We had dinner 3x at the hotel and it was excellent! Very good food. The only thing I personally didn‘t like was that the shower walls were transparent and there was no door to the bathroom. I was on holiday with my parents and i felt quite uncomfortable being fully exposed naked in the shower. I guess it‘s more of a couple resort tho.

Hi there are restaurants and bars close to the hotel and it's a short walk to the town centre and slightly further to the harbour side.

Hi it's a long way from the airport in a taxi so would be expensive. We booked transfers via the hotel website which were very reasonable.. Can't remember the exact price.

I had most my meals in the hotel or on the seat of my bicycle:) I only went to a restaurant once during the ten days I was there and I'm afraid I cannot give you any recommendations. I saw there were several places to eat so unless you're looking for super exquisite 5 course exotic meals, you should be ok. Hope it helps.
