We stayed two nights at the Hostel Gaia Porto. The owner is super friendly and helpful, always happy to help point you to the perfect spot for sunset, port tastings, even vegetarian food (which we really appreciated). The hostel is perfectly situated within a few blocks of the city's Port houses. The room was clean, spacious, and cozy with a...

If the title and all the other good ratings didn't already convince you to stay at this hostel, then I hope this will! We came to the hostel late at night, and João didn't bother to wait for us! We were greeted very warm hearted and with a glass of port wine! Once we entered the room, it felt like...

Beautiful hotel with wonderful, warm service, a delicious and generous breakfast (amazing cake) and superb location - what more could you want? Maybe a rooftop garden - it has that too! One of my favourite places to stay in the world and the reason we were planning a return trip to Porto before we'd even left!

Very close to the banks of the Douro in downtown Gaia is the very best hostel we have ever stayed. We did have the double bedroom on the street side of the hostel. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They serve good breakfast and also meals in the evening. The hostel is clean and very well organized. Outside in...

Gaia Porto Hostel is by far the most comfortable, CLEAN, and welcoming hostel at which I have ever stayed! The rooms were immaculate and I felt like I was staying in a nice hotel, and not a run-down hostel. As a solo traveler, it was easy to make friends at Gaia because of the staff's friendly, welcoming atmosphere - hostel...

Stayed here for three nights and it felt like i was back at home! It was a great break from the classic dirty dorm-like hostels in Europe and i felt like i was apart of their family. This is a small hostel and is a family home, so if you are coming to Porto to party or with a huge...

We had such a lovely stay. My daughter persuaded me to book a hostel and I was a little worried. But she was so right. We feel we experienced true Portuguese hospitality with personal touches you would never get in a hotel. The hostel was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. It was quiet but excellently located just a short walk...

This has to be one of the nicest hostels I have stayed in, in Europe. The guy on reception (sorry I cant remember his name) was extremely helpful. and after I had checked in he supplied me with my first taste of port. (very nice and surprisingly strong) The hostel may be on the Gaia side of the river but...

Before arriving we were phoned to say there was an error and the hostel wAs over booked from an error on the booking site we used... However.... João found us a little apartment just down the road and allowed us to use all the facilities for the same price we paid. What generosity! I can honestly say this is one...

Brand new, small and confy. I've never seen a hostel with toilets and rooms as clean as in Gaia Porto Hostel, I felt like I was at my mom's. Light and power plug in each bed make everything easier. The garden at the rooftop has an amazing view, on summer it must be ever better! The staff is no doubt...
