If you don't have a rented car, this is one of the best reasonably priced superb hotels in Gaia, the city across the river from Porto. It is next to El Cortes Ingles department store, which opens very late until 11:00PM. Metro station is a block away from the hotel, which would take you to Sao Bento station in a few stops crossing Dom Luis bridge. We loved their breakfast and services. You could Uber to the river side for 3~4 Euro, if you like. It is just well located hotel. We had a rented car, but we parked on a reserved spot inside the building for 8 Euro per day while we spent three nights there. You have to reserve the spot as they only have limited spaces. I reserved the spot via email in the US before I apprive in Porto. Convenient hotel. We stayed on 9th floor and we didn't have any noise problem, but I would think if you stay on the lower floors, you might have to content with some of the noises coming from Metro, which pass right by the front of the hotel. We will be back for sure if we're coming back to Porto.

For the cost, this is a bargain, It ain’t the Ritz, just a simple hotel South of the river. Right on the metro, Jao de Deus stop is right outside the door, so direct to old city and easy to airport. Rooms large and comfortable. Shower rooms are spacious and fine ( extractor is on a separate switch and sounds like a rocket, so don’t switch on in the middle of the night). Spotlessly clean.
Don’t expect a full English. Breakfast is delightful, continental meat & cheeses, fresh fruits & yoghurts, pastries & toast …….much more. The female maitre-de is a bit brusque but spot on, and nothing is too much trouble.
Not luxurious but really like this place and an absolute bargain. Only negative is that if your room is on the main road, it can be noisey.

We stayed here for one week & having not visited Porto before we hadn’t any idea which area we were in but just a short step from the Metro which we used nearly everyday, excellent link to the airport & much cheaper than a taxi, cost us €2.60 each one way.
We thought the hotel was great, staff were very nice & rooms were cleaned thoroughly daily, shower had a bit of black in corners but seen much worse, there was a kettle but our only gripe were the paper cups for your drink which tended to go soggy also no milk supplied so we bought a small carton of longlife milk.
One block down is the biggest department store we’ve ever seen,el casa inglis, food court is great,we didn’t eat breakfast in hotel so can’t comment,we used one of the cafes further down the road most days.
One of the lovely receptionists directed us to catch a number 903 bus to Afurada the fish area & away from tourist area & very quaint near the marina, well worth a visit if you like fish, they are open for lunch & again in evening, steep hill down & up! as the bus doesn’t go right to the area.

Stayed here for four nights. Shared room with my son. Room was decent size to take two comfortable single beds with a nice sized bathroom with excellent power shower. There was an outside decking area to the room with chairs, unfortunately the decking was broken in a few places but we didn’t spend a lot of time out there.

The hotel was very clean, the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful couldn’t be faulted. We were able to leave our bags with them allowing us to make most of our last day (boat trip, port tasting and general sightseeing) unencumbered by our luggage. Didn’t eat in hotel as there are numerous reasonably priced cafes and eateries as you walk down the hill towards centre.
The hotel is situated within walking distance of the centre of Porto and very close to the tram stop which had frequent trams to the main station. It can also be reached by tram from the airport. Tram fares were very reasonable.

We enjoyed our stay, it was an excellent base for which to discover Porto.

An excellent no frills budget hotel which I would be happy to recommend.

Great Location, close to public transportation and convenient to all tourists sites and great restaurants at walking distance. Very friendly front desk and excellent services offered and helpful in advising of places to visit and recommendations.
Rooms were very clean and neat with electric kettle if you want to make tea and coffee.
There is no refrigerator. There is a safe in the room for your convenience, extra blankets and pillows as well.

Breakfast is OK but not the best, Cold cuts, fresh bread, juices etc, etc, but nothing fancy. Room for improvement. Friendly staff.

I would stay at this hotel again.

Just what you would want, modern clean hotel right on the Tram line for transport in to the old town. The hotel does a very good continental breakfast up to 10:30 am so no rush to get up. Rooms are not the most spacious but ok fro a short stay.

Staff were very helpfull and knowlagable of the local ara. we would definitly stay again.

I recommend! We stayed at this hotel for the 3thrd time. This time with our 5 month old baby. It was, as usual, very clean and the staff very nice. It is very well located and they have a parking car near the hotel. We’ll return for sure. We rate five stars...

We stayed in this hotel during the month of january for 3 nights. Our travel agent booked us this hotel that is just located in front of the main shopping center in the surrounding area (El Corte Ingles) and has a metro station across the street that takes 4-5 minutes to the center of Oporto.
The room was quite nice and we got a small balcony as we stayed in the top floor. WC as quite small but more than enough.

The breakfast is served until 10 am and has different kind of breads, juices, cerals,... Verty good quality for the price you pay.

I recently returned from Porto, Portugal. All I can say that this is a fabulous area to visit. The sights are spellbounding. Take a boat cruise and enjoy the view.
We stayed at Albergaria Cervantes, (25 mins walk from Douro river)
This is a functional and clean hotel with excellent ensuite facilities. There is a good cold buffet breakfast selection.
The hotel has minimal facilities on site but they recommended good local services which was a godsend for the children in the party. The hotel also recommended a local restaurant , Carpa which is literally 5 mins walk from the hotel. It serves excellent inexpensive food. Eat downstairs for a less informal atmosphere at half the price.
The hotel was very helpful when a member of my group was injured. They assisted and recommended a local hospital.
The only downside of this hotel is that there are major transport works being undertaken around the hotel. Time scale is unknown which does not help. As long as you keep the windows closed and turn on the air con , you will be fine.

Please remember that this hotel is on the business side of Porto.

I will be returning in the near future.

Stayed for 5 nights, in a triple room which was quite snug (room 601). beds were really comfortable and housekeeping really good with room cleaned daily.
Free wi-fi available throughout Hotel which worked well. The air-con was good. Not much on the TV, a lot of the channels showed english/ american programmes with portuguese subtitles.
The lounge area on the ground floor was a bonus with free water, tea, squash, fruit, all very welcome, other drinks and snacks could be bought for a very reasonable price.
Breakfast was much nicer than I was expecting considering the low cost of the room, it had everything you could ask for, including a machine where you could sqeeze your own fresh orange juice.
The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient they helped us with our football tickets and with printing of vouchers for day trips, the breakfast lady was also very nice. They all spoke English really well.
One of the reasons for booking this hotel was the transport links, the best value card was a 24 hour andante which you could use on both metro and bus for E5.20 which takes you all over the centre and out to the beaches, there are really helpful attendants at the metro to help you with your tickets, they all spoke English. It takes about 10 minutyes to get to the centre of Porto. Another great reason for booking this hotel ids the ride over the river on the metro and the panoramic views, well worth it. We ate one night at Carpa restaurant, just down the road, in the downstairs bit, ignore the other reviews, it was fab E23 for 3 including wine!!!
No real complaints, apart from the bathroom door which didnt fit properly.
I thoroughly reccomend this hotel, especially if you are on a budget.

So strange that I was asked this question... it says it's about a hotel in Porto that I have reviewed, but it is indeed about Cyprus. I am sorry but I cannot help. While in Cyprus, I didn't do any horse riding. Have a good trip.
