We stayed just for a week mid January, the weather was quite kind to us enabling good use of the outside areas - in fact even the heated outdoor swimming pool was in use. The staff were outstanding in every way possible, we were greeted with a smile and great service everywhere and their good humour was appreciated. The hotel...

Took my wife there to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Wonderful hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Had welcome flowers, chocolates & champagne in the room. Our room had a terrace by the lawn and on an evening we could sit out on the lawn and watch the sea. There was a lovely little promenade...

We are still here at the moment enjoying our last couple of days.. On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the loveliest members of staff who swiftly checked us in, gave us all the information we required and a glass of Maderia wine to welcome us, we were given a lovely room on the 4th floor with a...

We booked a very last minute week here because Christmas had been difficult with my being ill in bed and my husband having to take on all the entertaining, cooking etc. – we both needed a recovery break! Before we left the UK, my husband emailed the hotel to ask for a room on a high floor and not too...

Been to maderia before but not out of Funchal. The hotel is furnished in an old fashioned style but is elegant and very clean. Plenty of beds round the pools though it was too cold to use them when we visited. Food has been excellent so far, staff lovely and very attentive. Courtesy bus useful and free, rooms large with...

We spent a week at this hotel from 16th January. We have stayed in Riu hotels many times and the last 4 have been Palaces so we knew what to expect...or so we thought. The others have been in the Caribbean and it would appear that the Palace name there is different to those in Europe. that said we cannot...

We had a partial sea view room, comfortably furnished and kept in tip top order by the housekeeping team. Although the bedroom furnishings were a little dated and heavy they exuded quality. If Riu decide to revamp the Palace they may in danger of losing the ambience by replacing the furnishings with more modern fittings. The dining was absolutely first...

We visited this hotel for a week in the second part of January. This was our second visit at the same time of the year. The rooms are pretty spacious, with lots of storage for clothes etc. The buffet restaurant serves up very good food that will cater for everyone's taste. And is to a very high standard. The staff...

This is the second RIU hotel we've stopped at and once again it didn't disappoint. On arrival we were checked in by the very friendly Miguel, he always said hello whenever we passed reception as did all of the staff at the hotel. Our room was on the 7th floor (room 1739), we had requested a high floor via email...
