This resort should come with a health warning as to get anywhere on site you cannot avoid lots of steep steps and pathways. Our accommodation was in a building up an extremely steep hill. The facilities are wonderful and we spent a great deal of time swimming and sunbathing around the thermal pools. However, if the weather turns, and it frequently does, there are absolutely no wet weather alternatives. No indoor lounge areas for residents to sit & watch the thunder and lightning storms! The rooms have been tastefully refurbished and are very comfortable but are a bit short of storage space for a couple on an 11 night stay. There are no coffee/ tea facilities in the room either & We had a de luxe sea view room. We opted for half board which was good value and consisted of 4 course fine dining in the sister hotel Miramare. Excellent quality and very interesting dishes. However, for a lengthy stay it gets very repetitious and we missed having a more simple option.

Property's Favourite Review
Have just returned from here after a week holiday travelling with Tui. What can I say, the place is amazing the views breathtaking & the food to die for. S’Angelo itself is laid back & fairly quiet for the most part, there are a few bars & restaurants. It did get busier at the weekends & on a Italian national holiday that occurred while we were there, centred around the harbour with lots of yachts arriving. There are no cars allowed in the resort just electric vehicles & you need to be fairly mobile to get around on foot. Apollon club is connected to Miramere hotel, the latter is more formal than the Apollon, both are lovely in their own way. Thermal pools & sun loungers are at the Apollon. Staff faultless & very friendly, nothing too much trouble & always done with a smile. In particular our waiting staff at the Apollon , Pascale, the two Alessias, Gea and Emanuale. They are a credit to the business.! We will definitely be back.

When booking The Apollon Club, you need to bear in mind the journey to get there. Our journey to Ischia, Italy began from Gatwick, London. We were on a flight that took off around 7.25 am, and taking account of the ‘one hour’ time difference we arrived in Naples at about 11.00 am. There was a horrendous queue outside, in the hot sun, just to get into the building. Getting through arrivals and retrieving our luggage took about an hour. We were then ‘frog-marched’, with our luggage, around the perimeter of the airport to our mini-bus. The journey to the port took about another hour – arrival at the port was 1.25 pm – but our ferry was not leaving until 2.25 pm. Another hour wait! Though exciting, the ferry ride took about 58 minutes and after arriving at the port, and experiencing the organised chaos over our luggage, we boarded another mini-bus through St Angelo – this took roughly another hour. Being aware before booking, the last leg of our journey was on board a golf buggy which cost us 8 Euros. We finally arrived at The Apollon Club at around 5.15 pm feeling tired, hot and bothered. A long, long day of travelling, which I know is part of the holiday experience, but one that I was totally unaware of just how long, when you consider the flight time is only 2 hours and 30 minutes. On arrival at The Apollon Club a warm welcome was received. The Receptionist took us out, through the breakfast area, explained where the beach was, times for meals, where all the thermos pools were and then took us directly to our room. Our room was really sweet, quaint, romantic and probably the smallest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in! We had a balcony which was furnished with two chairs (cushioned) and a table. The view was absolutely breath-taking and the sound of the sea (which we could almost touch) was amazing. Though the bathroom was small, especially the shower, it was clean and functional. Complimentary toiletries were available though we didn’t use these. We had plenty of fluffy towels too. The mini-bar was well-stocked and the safe was easy to use. We found we had plenty of space for the storing of our clothes however, we were there for only one week. Though I knew we would have no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, it would be nice if they were included. The room was kept lovely and clean and fresh towels were left daily. I think our bed may have been changed once or twice during our stay but I’m not sure as it always looked nicely made each day. It goes without saying that we enjoyed our sleeps, the bed was firm but comfortable and it was so quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the sea. Perfect! We spent our first couple of mornings on the little beach. The sea was beautifully clear and calm, and it was never difficult getting a sunbed. The beach was easily accessed down a slope and a long a sun terrace. In the afternoon, we tended to use the thermos pools on both levels. Our favourite pool was the larger one on the higher level – it was a walk up some sloping steps that zig-zagged through beautiful gardens. It’s worth the walk just for the 360-degree views of both the sea and mountains. The lifeguards here were lovely – they would quickly approach to put up your umbrella and prepare the sunbeds for you. There was a lovely, little bar here and we enjoyed a couple of cocktails in the late afternoon. The staff were quick to serve and once or twice actually bought our drinks to our sunbeds. We did notice that these pools became very busy on the weekend with other visitors coming in and using them. Unfortunately, during our stay, we experienced some thunderstorms which meant the sea was rough and as a result, not many sunbeds were put on the beach due to the high surge. We stayed half-board and thoroughly enjoyed both our ‘relaxed’ breakfasts and evening meals. Breakfast was a continental affair with plenty of cereals, breads, cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit, yoghurt and pastries. My husband did also enjoy the scrambled egg and bacon. The coffee was served quickly and was good most mornings – there was also fruit juices and bottled water too. We had to go to The Miramare for our evening meal and we thoroughly enjoyed both the change of scenery and the golf buggy rides. The service we received was exceptional – especially from one particular couple. They are an asset to the hotel and truly made all our meal times something to look forward to. Thank you to them!! We received great advice on the wine menu and they were patient to guide us. Hence why we enjoyed a delicious bottle each evening. The food was very, very tasty and portion sizes were sometimes a little too large for us! We really enjoyed the zingy butter that accompanied the variety of breads. Views were fabulous from the veranda and we were lucky to have a ‘sea view’ table most evenings. Eating here was both relaxing and enjoyable but we did feel it could benefit from some background music to create a little more atmosphere. One confusing issue – we smelt the strong odour of gas on several occasions at this restaurant?? The reason I have given a 3-star rating and not 4-star is due to a serious safety issue. Walking back to our room in the evening, which was on the same level as the bar and breakfast area, was extremely dangerous. Picture navigating an uneven flagstone flooring, several steps and three flights of steps down to our room in the pitch black with absolutely no lights on what-so-ever. As a result of this, I did actually loose my footing on an uneven step and fell down the remainder. I badly bruised my knee, shin and cut it in two places. The following morning, we went to see the receptionist whom gave me a couple of large plasters. She explained that the lighting is operated by a timer and that she would look into it. It remained the same (dark when returning to our room) for a couple more nights. We approached the receptionist again who now said it was due to the electric storm? She said she would look into it again. Unfortunately, nothing changed. Attached pictures show my injury directly after falling and one 2 weeks later. Pictures are also attached on the morning of our departure at 4.15 am. This is obviously extremely unacceptable hence the lower rating that I have submitted. Overall, our stay at The Apollon Club was very relaxing and we made lovely memories. It was a truly ‘unique’ experience and our first-ever of Italian hospitality. The beach, pools and service we received from the waiting staff, bar staff and life-guards were superb! Oh, I nearly forgot! We were told that due to our early departure, the golf buggy, which cost us 8 Euros on arrival, would be 25 Euros. We had no choice but to pay – the alternative would be to drag our suitcases, up and down slopes, to the mini-bus collection point. Easily a 30-minute walk. One piece of advice for the hotel – make sure you sort out the outside lighting for your future guests. Would I recommend The Apollon Club? Yes, I probably would but only if you are prepared for the lengthy journey and a rather ‘quirky’ experience. The time it takes to get to Ischia could see you arriving in Mexico on a direct-flight! (For example).

Nice location but completely disorganized the property is very old not well maintained, what you see on the photos are far away from the reality. Located at the sea you expect the seafood to be fresh instead is frozen and not at a cheap price. I booked sea view room and at the time of check in I got terrible one still waiting at the bar for a change ! Please don’t go if you have other choices.

Partly renovated hotel in a good location, good thermal pools. Otherwise just a disaster, the worst service I ever experienced, you will have to beg for your breakfast. No room service. It’s like they want to tell you - don’t come back here! So unwelcoming, we didn’t even try to eat lunch or dinner. Sun beds at the beach are blocked from early morning. The only nice people here are Francesco at the pool and Roman at the beach, but unfortunately they cannot make it for the rest. AVOID this place! Not worth the money!

This was our third holiday on Ischia but the first at Saint Angelo and the Appolon. We loved the authentic Italian cuisine offered as part of our HB booking. The leisurely dining alfresco on a terace overlooking the sea with the waves breaking just below was magical. The thermal park was great and a real treat to have only a short stroll to use the pools. These were beutifully kept and it surprised us that they are all emptied and washed each day! The service was always friendly and we were treated very kindly with the staff exceeding our expectations. Thanks to all the staff for a fantastic stay.

After some teething problems with arrival I can only say good things about this hotel. The reception staff have generally been very good however they could sell the hotel more by generally explaining everything clearer, for example there was no mention of breakfast times, no mention that we had got a room upgrade (Grazie) Perhaps management need to take a closer look at this. Restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. Hotel room was immaculate (bathroom could do with an upgrade) Gardens in hotel were fabulous as were the pools. We spent most of our time on the beach which we loved. Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we will definitely be coming back.

Apollon is in a fantastic location. Our room was great, the restaurant view is amazing and we can only admit that it seems a paradise! However, the service at the bar/restaurant, the guy at the beach and other amenities is not even close to the level it should be for a 4 stars hotel. Being local we have suggested to the manager to take actions. A few examples for you to consider if it is a relaxing 4stars holiday: 1. Cleaning lady at 7:30am using vacuum and moving furniture to clean the room next to us; 2. You open your own umbrella and sunbeds; 2. You can only bring (yourself!) an aperitif to the sunbeds by the sea...if you bring the glasses back! 3. Light lunch with a slice of watermelon...we got 3 tiny tiny pieces and half of one piece was white peel; 4. Every small bottle of water is 4€. Bottom line, it is not a 4stars hotel unless we are talking about its price. All the rest it is not worth, believe me! And i told it to the manager so hopefully they will change something!

Location is picturesque, a little village in itself. With half-board the meals were prepared with care. Pizza was excellent, and so was baccala fritto. Table was always reserved with sea-view. Every dinner was different, with starting buffet with salad and vegetables-- limited in size, but excellent quality. Sea-water pools were many, and of varying temperature. Room 434 was spacious and newly-designed with Philippe Starck chairs. Bathroom was spacious. Waiters were professional. In the area, there is good shopping with many boutiques. Netflix was there on the tv inside the room. Tennis court is nearby, and free of charge with reservation. If there is one suggestion, it is to cover the tennis court overhead, to avoid balls flying into the nearby Casa Rosa below.
