It's true when they say, you get what you pay for! This was a low cost hotel, and it is easy to see why. Very shabby, on engine the hotel its smelt badly of smoke...old carpets I think. Reception was very dusty and tasty looking. The room was small, dated and rather uninspiring. The bathroom was a throwback from the... More

Economical, central hotel in Sancerre. We stayed one night but that was enough. Old fashioned. Needs major refurbishment and investment. But it was cheap. 50 euro for a double room. I suspect there are better hotels around. Staff not over friendly but not hostile either.

Old fashioned hotel with bedrooms that have not been refurbished for at least 15 years. Our room was on the 2nd floor up a windy staircase - no lift available Room was lovely and warm but the bath in the bathroom was very old and had no enamel on. I actually grazed my back the bath surface was just like... More

Hotel from hell. Filthy, overpriced, old and worn down , with rude staff...intended to stay three days but left after the first night. Nightclub with loud music and loud people ruined our sleep. And the staff joined the party! Stay clear, we found much better accomodation at Le Clos St Martin, just around the corner.

We were attracted by the location and an authentic hotel, however we regret agreeing to take a room due to the poor quality of everything from the dated decor, damp smell, visible mould to the dirty bathroom and broken shower. The wifi was not working and the walls are so thin we could hear everything happening next door; but the... More

Having spent over a week here we cannot praise their hospitality enough, room cleaned and fresh towels every day, The restaurant is always very busy and if you enjoy steaks the entrecotes are good, the salads are marvellous for non meat eaters like myself. We did not have breakfast here as we enjoy having coffee and croissants in Sancerre centre

Whenever we stay here the staff are always very friendly and helpful ,the rooms are clean ,they are dated but one needs to take into account the cost is not that of a five star hotel, you pays your money and you make your choice, it's a great pity to complain afterwards, when staying here look in the visitors book,... This was our fifth hotel in a two week tour and the first where we were made to feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We were given a key by a surly waitress who simply pointed to the staircase leading to the bedrooms. The views from the hotel are spectacular but that's where the positives end I'm afraid. The... The Hotel du Rempart is an old hotel with decor from the l960's (dated furniture, a half-bath shower, creaky floors), but my wife and I could deal with that - it's a budget hotel, and how much time do you spend in your room anyway, aside from sleeping at night?. But that was the problem - we had a double... More

Average food, good wine selection good service and a fantastic view. We didn't stay at the hotel, just had lunch. Fortunately we had great weather for September so were able to enjoy the scenery. Weather permitting, we would return for lunch again.
