The Monkey is great for what it is, a budget hostel with cheap dorms and chill atmosphere. I have stayed many nights at the Monkey since 2012 & have met many travelers. Many think I am the manager as I am constantly around and will help out when travelers only speak English. As for services remember where you are, you...

The hotel itself is not the worst we have ever been, but the attitude of the management was more than worst. He (the manager guy) kept playing his music loud all day like you are in a bar. The worst it got one of the evening. If we want party, we go to a bar! This is a hostel, where...

I cannot believe that this hostel is listed in the Lonely Planet. We had a reservation confirmed for a private room and when we arrived on december 31rst the room was not available! They just had 2 beds in the dorm which was dirty. Staff did not care about our situation amd did not try to help in any way....

I only stayed there for one night but had a great experience! I chose a private room (they're only 10$ for one person and the dorms are 5$ so it's worth paying 5$ more for the privacy of your own room). Bathrooms are clean. Staff is friendly and useful. It's also centrally located, near a bank and a few streets...

We had a great time at the Bearded Monkey. The staff is friendly and willing to accommodate their guests. My girlfriend and I stayed in a private room, we both found it to be basic which was what we were going for. It was affordable and more comfortable than we expected. It is a good place for an affordable travel...

I had a Nice stay at the bearded Monkey which is nicely situated and where the staff is very friendly. I stayed for 4 nights and it was quiet and clean. It is not highly recommendable for backpackers who want to meet many people via a hostel , since it is not a very social environment.

I had a great time at the Bearded Monkey. Yes, the rooms (I stayed at a single room) are very basic, but what more than a bed and a mirror do you need anyway? The staff is very friendly and helpful and made me feel like home within the shortest time. There is a big and cosy patio with free...

My friends and I found bedbugs in several dorm bunks. Avoid! The staff was also notoriously unhelpful and unwilling to refund us. Atmosphere is nice but not shared with other critters, and the hostel is not responding.

I'm really shocked this place made it into the lonely planet. Since myself and a friend arrived we have had nothing but problems,. the shared dorm bathroom door has a big hole in it allowing everyone to see you do your business as well as no lock and it is stiff, gets stuck and makes a noise. the free coffee...
