Good place, Mama just wants to be mama. She doesn't care other things much. This makes this place cool. She calls herself "mama" and all the guests "son" and "daughter". Thali is for sure the best as for the price and one of the best in India. Cheapest londry in the area as well. You can get a room with a heater in the winter for 250 which is maybe the lowest price you can find in Rishikesh.

I had never expected my stay in mama cottage to have such a bad ending. When I arrived looking for a room I was received in a very friendly way and I was offered a room for the period of time that I needed it. After I moved there I realised that the apparently nice atmosphere present in the place was almost an illusion !! After a short time I started to feel treated like a bag of money that is not welcome if I don’t have the intention to be spending money there all the time. I realised I was asked to pay more than other guests for some of the staples they sell like water. My most unpleasant experience arrived when before my stay was complete, I was asked in a not very polite way that I had to look for another room somewhere else because all the rooms in the place, included mine had been booked for a higher price than what I was paying. Too greedy people! I don’t recommend this place to anybody. The area is surrounded by guest houses with better restaurant services, similar prices and especially much nicer and friendlier personnel.

Stayed 3 nights in one of the upstairs rooms. Located amongst other accom and restaurants on high bank, 15 min + walk to Rishikesh 'centre.' Thalis are good and fairly cheap, Mamas banoffee pie and masala chai are awesome! Plenty of smoking in the eating area if thats your thing.

Cheap ish, 400r for three people, fan cooled in Sept.

After starting at a not so great hotel around the corner mama was are peaceful, clean, and relaxing sanctuary. We were welcome with a warm smile and efficient service. This is also a great place to get your laundry done. Would defiantly stay here again.

Fantastic and economical guesthouse. "Mama" calls everyone either son or daughter, and definitely makes you feel at home - eating breakfast and dinner in her dining room with the family. The rooms are spartan but very clean, and the view from the High Bank is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend this place to fellow travellers, whether solo or a couple/family.

Oh mama you provided me with the best Thali I've had in India! Room was always clean and food was cheap and good! Very nice and friendly homestay-feeling. And also very nice to meet interesting people because of the living area where everybody is eating ! See ya again ;)

Mama starts off very cute and endearing but soon becomes pushy and harassing. I was there for a week and then she told me I had to leave the next day, when I pushed here on it I found out it was because she wanted to charge more for the room, she said she would let me stay if I paid more. Every time you come or go from the place she is pestering you if you are going to eat there evening thali. The wiring in my room was terrible and I thought I would get electrocuted when showering. There are better places just up the road.

A family run cottage with this elderly lady that takes care of you like your own.

There is no restaurant space as such but they serve food, tea, coffee at really affordable prices. Also the rooms are neat and tidy and hot water runs all through the day. There are like 3 terraces with a couple of chairs lying around to enjoy the early morning view of the monkeys waiting to be fed and Lucky (the dog) running behind them to shoo them off.

I would've loved it if there were more sitting space downstairs. They have one table where they serve thalis etc and people come around, eat, talk, chill. But then since there's not much space, it seems too crowded at times.

Must Go!
