I have traveled to Rishikesh many times and its only in this recent trip that I happen to stay at Divine Ganga Cottage, and I am so thankful that I did. It checks all my requirements when I think of a perfect stay at Rishikesh; rooms - absolutely well maintained and cozy, view -

This hotel was recommended by a friend who stayed here six months ago.

I rented suite 120. I had view to Ganga river through the wide windows. my room had queen bed and comfortable. The room was big enough to move around.

Bathroom was tight but comfortable for one person.

Hi Mark, So confused about The Divine Ganga Cottages . as there are some really bad reviews as in dirty and smelly? , Reading yours it seems as if one has to be careful which room you book, did you book directly with the hotel? And... some reviews say it's tricky to find and get to with lots of steps. Could you comment please?
G'day Sylvia to be honest we really enjoyed DGC and stayed there for a week and really loved it. Our room was exceptionally clean and staff and restaurant great! We stayed on 2nd floor wghich had awesome views over valley and Ganges opposite Ayuvedic centre which I would recommend highly. Ground floor did look a bit dark but never went there. I booked via Bookings. com but when we arrived they were willing to extend our stay at a discounted rate. Perhaps try them directly and see if you can get a better price than online? Not difficult to find via signs and only about 3 - 5 mins walk from the main road. Tuk tuk drivers can take you closer down the lanes if you are coming by bus. If of interest I would also consider visiting nearby Haridwar about 45 mins away by tuk tuk. The river worship ceremonies at dawn and dusk are by far and away much more authentic and as a pilgrimage site an an amazing place to spend a day or two if you have time. Let me know if you have other questions. Cheers, Mark

Are there lots of steps to be climbed for reaching the hotel and in the hotel? Any lift provision is there? The problem is with my wife who has some difficulty and walks with the assistance of a stick.
No there is no lift - you will have to use the staircase. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The service and the rooms are not great.
