We spent 2 nights at Banyan by the Ganges in summer vacations. I chose this after reading so many good reviews (mostly 5 stars). Though overall experience was good but I beg to differ in 5 stars. So first I’ll begin with positives. The best part and the saving grace of the resort is their staff. Very soft spoken, always ready to listen to u and try to provide u whatever u ask for. Mr Naresh, Raju, Arjun,Gajendra.... all were good. Other great thing is was the food. The buffet spread was delicious. U ask for special diets for kids, gluten free diet etc... they’ll provide. Now the ordeal. It started from booking.. I booked 1 night and next day planned for another night in same resort. So I called them to book a night before. There were no rooms available. I asked them to refund

Never trust these good reviews . This place is not for summer I was there with my wife and daughter on 10th june , 2019 . We reached there around 12.30 pm and return the same day at 3.15 Pm.They claim it is a unique destination that promises incredible experiences for Nature lovers, Anglers, Rafters, Bird watchers and Yoga enthusiasts. Offering a barbecue, bonfire and a private Beach area. sorry to say that We did not find any thing like on the ground.they are showing some great pictures of this place in their website - most of them are fake . nothing is there. We saw only one boat there, but there was no one to take you for rafting ...They claim children's playground and water sports facilities sorry to say again it is a very small and not so clean area .We did not

Response from Tito K, Owner at Banyan by the Ganges
Responded 16 Jun 2019
Dear Mr Kathuria, At the outset let me apologise for 'Banyan' not living up to your expectations as a holiday destination. As an avid traveller myself, I can empathise with your feelings. At the same time it would be remiss of me if I did not point out certain facts which I feel obliged to pen down. Banyan By The Ganges is a Nature Retreat nestled away from the bustling crowds, 14 kms downstream from Devprayag, on the opposite bank of the main Badrinath Highway, along the Devprayag-Satpuli-Lansdowne all weather metalled road, at an altitude of 1700 ft. We have 12 cottages on a 3 acre property. Each individual cottage is 300 sq.ft. in size with a spacious bathroom and a sit out balcony. Every cottage comes with a One tonne AC for use during summers and heaters for winters. The mattresses, linen and toiletries provided are of the highest standards and we have our own in-house laundry. The resort is on three levels and have our own Badminton and volleyball courts, many sit out areas, common garden areas, a yoga platform under the 250 year old Banyan tree and large swathes of open spaces for guests and kids to enjoy. Of course bonfires and barbecues are provided in the evenings when the weather gets cooler ! We have direct access to the white sand beaches and the river Ganges. There is ample car parking space good enough to park about a dozen cars. We have a 30 X 40 ft. 36 seater restaurant and lounge, the 'Riverstone Diner', and a Reception cum lounge cum library. There are 3 licensed rafts on the property (plus two extra rafts on standby), two safety kayaks and all of these equipments are made by 'NRS', the best in the world meeting up with the highest safety standards. We have rock climbing, abseiling, zip lining, nature walks, hikes in and around the property. There is a beautiful waterfall right next to the property where many of our guest enjoy during these summer months. Our guides and instructors are all licensed veterans with many years of experience. As we are situated amidst Nature, away from the hustle and bustle of regular tourist traffic, we have ensured power is provided through three sources, Electricity from the Grid, Inverters provided in each cottage and a Generator. On the day you had checked in ( 9 out of the 12 cottages were occupied and most of the guests were out rafting and kayaking or at the waterfall ), it was one of those unfortunate days when there was a major Electricity problem and voltage was fluctuating wildly and therefore the AC's in the rooms were not working for a few hours. (The problem was of course sorted out in a few hours by the evening). After your check-in, a full buffet lunch was provided to you and your family, and the staff were in the meanwhile sorting out the electricity issue which took a bit longer than anticipated. At around 3 pm you let it be known to the staff that you would like to check-out due to the AC in your cottage not functioning properly. My staff apologised to you profusely for your inconvenience and as a token gesture did not charge you for the lunch provided and of course your booking amount was refunded. I do hope that you will give us another opportunity to host you, as it pains us even if one of our guests have had a not-so-nice experience, so that you could truly partake of the Banyan hospitality for which we take immense pride in. Warm Regards.
