Rowland and Lorri Girling are top notch hosts! Speed the Plough is a beautiful bed and breakfast outside of tree city and tucked away in the mountains. The property is large and you might question your navigation when driving on the long windy road up to the property. But don't! It's about a mile off the main road. From the...

The room was great. The king size bed is now in front of the fireplace, instead of being in the corner. It is truly like entering someone's home. They treat you like an old friend. The caramel french toast was the best french toast I've ever had. The new addition to the house provides an extraordinary view of the countryside....

What a unique and warm experience. The owners obviously love people, and love making them at home, in their beautiful home. My husband enjoyed a leisurely evening chat with Rowland, while I read upstairs on the king bed in the gorgeous Rose Room with its silk draperies. Wow, we woke up to some spectacular scenery, of pond, birds, and mountain....

The trek coming into the inn from the north was quite lengthy (I would recommend coming in from Hwy. 130) but the scenery was beautiful and we even had a deer cross the road right in front of us. The innkeepers, Lorri and Rowland, couldn't have been more gracious and they had bottles of cool water waiting for us. My...

We stayed here this past weekend while attending Liberty University's graduation. The innkeepers were so friendly and kind. Each room was decorated with such thought & care. Breakfast was delicious each morning also. I would definitely recommend this B&B. Scenery around the facility was breathtaking. Coming from a very fast paced area, it was the perfect getaway.

This attractive and comfortable B&B is located on a large farm beautifully situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A hearty breakfast is served in a large conservatory with enormous windows looking out over a small lake and the mountain behind it. The hosts are very friendly and very helpful. There are a few awkward aspects to the...

I can’t say enough good things about this outstanding B&B in Amherst County, just 15 minutes from Lynchburg! When I looked for accommodations in the Lynchburg area during 2 days of business, I searched for a place that takes advantage of the beautiful countryside, and I am delighted that I chose Speed the Plough. Lorri and Rowland Lea Girling are...

“Both upstairs rooms are gorgeous.”

“The Rose Room with the king bed is spacious and the mattress very comfortable but the bed is shoved in a corner (I would have placed it in front of the none-working fireplace) and you have to step up into a small bathroom addition. The Blue Room is just a bit smaller but very attractively decorated and has a queen bed that is high off the ground (with steps provided).”
