There for dinner during the Virginia Horse Trials, I always make it a point to go up from Lexington. This is always worth the drive up Highway 39 for me. this really is a beautiful area just to get out and get away. This is a very noise free area, and I love it

Great room, great property, great food, and wonderful Inn keepers. Enough said. We will be back. It is so serene that I sleep like a rock. We met wonderful fellow travelers and had a chance to sit outside under a harvest moon and enjoy a wonderful fire in the outdoor fire place. Who could ask for more.

We traveled with a small group of friends to Fort Lewis Lodge recently. It is listed as a B&B with your breakfast and dinner included in your rates. The meals were exceptional. They were inventive and pleasing with a good variety. We were given an entire floor of one of the lodges which afforded more privacy then one expects in... More

You can't find a better place to unplug and turn off the world's concerns! We started going with our children and now we continue each year to look forward to our visit. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the food is always fresh and delicious and Caryl and John, the owners, are upbeat and professional! Possibly not a place... More

John and Carol are exceptional hosts with never a cross word. They have been inn keepers long enough to know what works, and they have gotten it right. The breakfast and dinner meals are four to five star buffet style events. If you come once, you'll be back many times. Some guests have returned over 50 times!!!

What a wonderful place. Very comfy rooms and setting. No need to dress up, but also heard about some wonderful weddings held there. Breakfast and dinner were included with our package and the food was great - served buffet style so seconds were available. I understand there's a bar area but we brought wine to dinner and that seemed okay.... More

We began going to Fort Lewis Lodge in 2000 after reading an article in the local newspaper. We just returning this afternoon from yet another Labor Day weekend at Fort Lewis Lodge. When we met a new guest Friday night, she asked what kept us coming back year after year. Was hard to put into words because there are SO... More

This was our second trip to this lodge. This time we stayed in the John Lewis Cabin. Our experience was even better than the first time. The accommodations were spacious and luxurious, with every amenity we would want, including internet and TV. The full breakfasts and dinners are gourmet and satisfying every time; happy hour enjoyable, meeting new people. The... More

We are recent transplants to VA and our friends told us about this place and how wonderful it is. Boy, were they right! The room (#12 in the lodge) was very comfortable and quiet, all the staff were welcoming and friendly. And the food was just great and plenty of it. Since it was going to be a stay of... More

I highly recommend this place. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, as were the beds. Everything is provided for in the room, including an excellent blow dryer. The grounds are lovely, and my friend and I enjoyed the swimming hole and kayaking on the river. We went hiking in the afternoon on a beautiful and challenging trail with some... More
