This is a lovely place and we regretted having only one night there. The inn is a little way from the main road, but we loved the quiet peaceful setting. The quilt room was on the first floor. There is plenty of space and the porch was a nice addition. It was a little too chilly the night we were...

We loved the llamas but couldn't get over the feeling it was overpriced, especially in comparison to other B&Bs we've stayed that are newer, had more amenities, and gourmand. The breakfast is very basic. The rooms were simple but I was pleased with the updated bathtub. I didn't like that our patio was not private - you can clearly see...

We do not advertise that our breakfasts are gourmet. Instead we call them hearty, whole grain and healthy. It is also clear on our website that the treks are an extra fee. A whole page is devoted to it, so it is hardly fine print. Lexington can not really be done in a day if you include museums, galleries, antique...

What first got my attention when I was booking a place, naturally, were the llamas. The drive from Lexington to the inn was short but beautiful, particularly when you turn off route 11 and onto the gravel road to the inn. There is a lovely creek and forest along the way and you are likely to see deer and rabbits...

I'm in a quandary as we want to keep the newly-opened cottage all to ourselves forever and I realize if I say too many great things about it then we may get shut out sometime in the future!!! Oh well, the truth will come out sooner or later so here goes....our experience was so great we were blown away. OK,...

Carl, thanks so much for all you kind words. Not that you will need to know personally, but the twin bed in the second BR has a trundle underneath so it sleeps two in addition to the Master BR.

When we first turned off the main road to begin the final drive to the inn, we were daunted by the narrow gravel road that went on and on and on. But very quickly we were enchanted by the sights, sounds, and smells of the woods and the creek. It became a favorite part of our day as we drove...

The Applewood Inn is a great place to go if you're looking to get away from it all. It's remote, quiet, and has beautiful scenery. We stayed in the European room, which had a separate inside sitting area, hot tub that opens to the outdoors, and a patio just outside where we ate takeout dinner and had wine. There was...

My husband and I stayed at the Applewood Inn in mid-April. We had a lovely time. Chris and Linda are great hosts. The property is large and full of beautiful plants and rolling hills. The llamas are fun to watch and going on a hike with them is pretty cool (Striker is the best ;) ). We stayed in the...

My boyfriend and I went for my birthday weekend and I could not have asked for a better place! The house is lovely, the European room was cozy and the hot tub was perfect for after the llama trek.... The grounds of the property are breathtaking and just watching the llamas was very peaceful.... Breakfast was delicious and Linda and...

We had an excellent stay at Applewood Inn. The hosts were very helpful. We had a flat tire when we were leaving and they helped us unloading our bags (we had a lot of packages since we were moving furniture from Atlanta to NY!!) and they helped us fixing the tire. The hosts had also really good stories about passing...

We love Chris and Linda and the llamas! The grounds are beautiful, they are so hospitable and Chris is a great conversator, while Linda isn't as social we adore her art work, her obvious love for their B&B and her company. We feel at home here and really enjoy the hilltop views of the Shenandoah Valley while getting close and...
