stayed here for 2 nights 8/12/22-8/14/22 with family (6 of us) we had 2 rooms. check in was easy but when we got into the 1 room it had not been cleaned. so went to desk and let them know and within a half hour they had someone there to clean it. during our second night there the ppl in the next room were very loud so when it was midnight, we asked the front desk to ask them to be quiet. didn't happen so we had to complain a second time and finally around 1-2 am it got quiet again. staff was great all-around Breakfast was just ok. rooms are big. beds are comfy. will stay there again. hopefully next time the pool & spa will be open.
Although a chain motel, the Wingate is decorated and maintained at the level of a high-end resort. The shrubbery is sculpted, there are oriental rugs in the elevators and paintings in the breakfast area. The common areas and rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the ac works - and it’s reasonably priced. A five star motel!
This hotel is far out dated, was not clean, and towels were stained with brown streaks. We went with it because it was late and had some of the highest ratings for the area. I haven’t stayed in much worse before. Don’t recommend!
After reviewing the comments on this hotel I was reluctant to stay here but it was a group rate and the rest of the group was staying here and I wasn't expecting much. But it was an OK stay. My room and bathroom was clean, large room with a microwave, coffee pot and small refrigerator. Right off Interstate 64 with a Ruby Tuesday, and Waffle House close to the hotel. Pool is still close. Did not partake in the breakfast but it did have cereal, bagels, fruit, not as extensive as some hotels but it would get you by. Hotel staff was not overly friendly but did get checked in without any problems - rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.
And apparently that means that they won't deliver fresh towels to your room when you need it say when you step out of the shower- they expect you to come to the front desk, soping wet (???!!!!). Wtf. Is that normal nowadays?
The hotel is poorly managed and it’s not being maintained. There is mold in the air conditioner that is visible. There is a ring of dirt around the ceiling and the floors. They do not replace any of the paper signage and keep reusing it so it’s stained.
You can tell a lot about a hotel when there's not many cars parked in the parking lot and then when you come in you have the receptionist individual sitting with his cellular plaster to his face and he doesn't even speak/ greet you when you arrive. The hotel itself smell of MOLD!!, the elevator rugs are dirty and nasty looking. 208 the beds are Old, uncomfortable. They sink-in like quicksand SMDANGH!! Microwave was dirty inside and out [fingerprints etc.], mini-fridge food crested inside on the shelves. Prior guest hair in the tub, in the sink. The toilet has stains in the inside that are questionable. The toiletries were used. Stains on sheets. Towels dirty with prior guest hair. The shelves very dusty where the towels, wash clothes are placed.... mirror has prior guest toothpaste spit. Roomfloors not vacuumed. The Breakfast Poor & very Questionable.. [Traveling Nurses] I will inform corporate to Never Reserve at this establishment again ever.…
I really don’t like being negative, but there does seem to be some improvements that need to be made. I felt the rooms weren’t really clean. You could see dust under dressers and around the edges of the room. The beds were very clean and comfortable. The windows in the room need to be replaced. I couldn’t even see out of them. The bathroom was great. Although tv selections were good, the quality was super poor. The elevator rugs were so dirty. Also, the breakfast was not good…hot selections very limited and cold. The staff was pleasant…especially the housekeepers. There is a lot of potential, but a major renovation seems needed.
Nightly rate was WAY too high. Breakfast was horrible. Food under cooked. Never wiped down tables. I asked for ice water and they pointed to a water fountain around the corner. Not helpful at all. They tried to come in and clean our room way before check out time.
The Wingate in Lexington, VA is an inviting and clean venue. The room was clean and quiet and the breakfast was above average. The location, just off Interstate 64 was very convenient with plenty of parking. I would stay there again
