My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the Woodland room. We were greeted by Dina upon arrival, given a tour, and a paper with all the local wineries for us to choose from (the next day). She gave us great intel on good food in the quaint town of Crozet. We went to the Fardowners Restaurant that night and had an amazing meal (grilled ribeye), paired with the perfect Pinot Noir. The dessert was an exceptional chocolate & Grand Marnier pot de creme.
Perfection! The bartender was a friendly soul.

We returned to our room and my husband started a fire. There’s no television in the room, so you can unplug, and listen to the crackling fire. We did this both nights.
They do offer a wi-fi password, in case you need it. There’s no cell service out there.

The second day, we visited a coffee shop in Crozet before going the short trip up the road to King Family Winery. We spent the day visiting wineries in the region and now have some wonderful ones to take home to Kentucky. For dinner that night we went to a place called Public Fish & Oyster in Charlottesville. The food was amazing and we loved our steam pots!

The bacon was perfect! And the apple and egg casserole was very good (we had no idea you could put the 2 together). The guests were friendly too.

Our Woodland room had ladybugs, and one stowed away in my luggage. I now have a Virginian ladybug living in Kentucky. 😂

We spent a night at this out of the way place. Owners were very hospitable + breakfast was delicious. View while dining was great with horses, unique chickens, goats, Pyrenees dogs + a mule. The only thing we would do different would be to stay in the main house. A unique place to stay. Very quiet. Good place to recharge.

We just spent the weekend at the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. The setting is idyllic and the whole experience was marvelous. The fireplace kept us toasty, the rooms are spotless and bright. The double whirlpool really was a double and the perfect end to our bike ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway (very close by). The little touches like a heatable neck wrap, robe and slippers, corkscrews, popcorn and soft drinks, early morning coffee and little baskets of toothbrushes and toothpaste really made it special. The food was delicious: best cheese grits and blueberry pancakes I've ever had. We opted to eat dinner there Saturday night for a very reasonable rate, and were treated to a real gourmet meal. The owners and manager could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We loved it!

This was our first experience with staying at a B&B. We were traveling with friends and our husbands planned a surprise weekend for us. Our first stop was The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. We stayed in the Country Manor suite and it was simply amazing!! It was secluded away from the rest of the house. The room was beautiful with a wonderful 2-person Jacuzzi tub! We only stayed one night, regretfully, we look forward to coming back but we may ask Dick & Hayden if they could get a feather top pad for the bed it was quite hard for our backs. We loved breakfast - homemade pumpkin pancakes with fresh warm apples. It was truly a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back!!!

A trully wonderful inn and nice innkeepers but we felt duped that they called themselves a "Charlottesville" Inn when in reality they are a three day mule ride out of town! Just kidding, but they didn't make it clear how very far out of Charlottesville they were.

As innkeepers, Hayden and I are very sensitive to the fact that hospitality begins with accurate and complete advertising. We were surprised and dismayed that valued guests would characterize our communication with them as making them feel "duped", a term that implies a deceptive attitude on our part. We attempt to describe our inn and our location as accurately as possible to all guests. That is why we invest thousands of dollars on our website and provide extensive communication to prospective guests which includes detailed directions to Sugar Hollow with each confirmation. We do this to insure that our prospective guests can make an informed decision, such as: "Yes, I think I would like the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm in its 70 acre country setting with quiet walks on country roads, hiking with free access into the Shenandoah National Park, close proximity to several wineries, deer roaming in the pasture -- I can deal with a 20 minute drive." or "No, I prefer another inn because I want to be within walking distance to attractions and restaurants or a short drive from all that Charlottesville offers and I can deal with the traffic, noise and congestion." At least 99% of our guests arrive at our door with a solid comprehension of where we are and what we are about (a romantic inn in a beautiful country setting - with easy access to the city). A few make last minute decisions, don't refer to our website in the decision making process and may not comprehend what a 13 mile - 20 minute drive into the country means when we give directions over the phone. At that point we have no way to compensate for their perception of our location. In summary, we were very disappointed that valued guests would imply that we were duplicitous in our communication with them, when honest communications with guests is the key component of our hospitality philosophy. We hope, that this party, upon reflection, will return for another visit, relax and enjoy the 13 mile ride through horse farm country to Sugar Hollow at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm was one of the most charming, warm, and convenient places I have ever stayed. Charming because of its delightful location in the Shenandoah Valley. One lane roads lined with gorgeous trees lead to the main house, which sits in front of a huge mountain! It is a truly awe inspiring sight. It is also very peaceful with the sound of birds, breezes, and your fellow guests the only things to distract you from the tranquility. And the fellow guests only if you want them to distract you!
I stayed in the Farmhouse (a separate building from the main house) and like it a lot. I had the room by the front door (garden room). It was a huge room with a queen size bed, a day bed, a walk in closet, and two sitting areas. The bathroom was immaculate and also very big. The noise level there was was a bit loud sometimes because I could hear everyone go in and out the front door. That didn't bother me, and I had the house all to myself one day so it was very quiet.
The Innkeepers and their great staff were very friendly and hospitable. When I arrived, I was given a great tour of the place (including a demonstration of how to work a unique water faucet) and felt right at home. A homemade breakfast is served each day and the food was delicious (french toast was my favorite)! Dick and Hayden (owners) were very helpful with suggestions and directions around the city.
The Inn is very convenient to all the great sights of Charlottesville! I went to Monticello one day and to a spa the other, and each were 25 minutes away by car. Those 25 minutes seemed like much less because of the wonderful scenery on the way to and from the destinations!
I went to Oasis Day Spa and Body Shop on Water Street for my spa treatments and it was fantastic! Very professional and friendly staff with awesome therapists. I had the essential massage and the bliss facial. It is total bliss! Make a reservation at least a week before you want to go. The fact that Oasis is two minutes away from all the shops and restaurants on the historic downtown mall didn't hurt either :) I also got some awesome chocolate at Gearhart's right next to the downtown area.
I would recommend the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm to anyone who wanted a quiet and picturesque place to stay. It is a very warm and tranquil place and is well worth the $140 per night.

This is a truly special B&B, lovingly maintained and charming in so many ways. We live in Washington, DC, and drove to Sugar Hollow for a 4 day getaway in early June. The hearty breakfasts and spectacular views from the large bay windows throughout the house and in our room -- not to mention the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the fresh mountain air -- immediately drove off everyday worries.

Sugar Hollow provides numerous options for excellent hiking and biking, and we took advantage of those during our stay. We did a a short, but challenging and incredibly rewarding ride around the area on a route recommended by innkeeper Dick Cabell. The ride took us on beautiful, rolling hills past a monastery, a vineyard, and numerous farms and lovely houses. A hiking route also recommended by Dick proved to be incredibly rewarding as well, taking us up from the valley up to Turk's Gap at Skyline Drive, where we had a spectacular view over the mountains and valley below.

True to its lovely and pristine surroundings, the B&B itself is lovely and pristine as well. It is extremely clean and extremely well maintained by Dick and Hayden, with lovely grounds including a romantic garden area (complete with fountain and swing) that is frequented by white-tail deer and butterflies. The tremendous care they have invested -- and continue to invest -- in this property is evident everywhere.

I look forward to returning again.

Over the holiday weekend, we stayed in the beautiful Wildflower Room. It was sheer luck! I called when I saw that it was vacant on the website and Hayden stated it just opened up due to a cancellation! How lucky we were to land that room, just at the right time! It was meant to be! The decor, the fireplace and the surrounding bay windows with accompanying window seat were just breathtaking...it was just what we were looking for...an escape from the rat race. The house was incredible with attention to detail in every area- hospitality, cleanliness, assistance in our travels/outings and meal presentation. Close enough to Charlottesville, but tucked away far enough in the mountains to offer the peace and tranquility that we were searching for. Dick and Hayden have put tremendous effort into the making of a beautiful inn. We enjoyed every moment and would recommend it without equivocation. Just wonderful!

The Inn at Sugar Hollow is a true gem, not only in the Charlottesville area but anywhere! Dick and Hayden must have written the book on delivering the quintessenital Bed and Breakfast experience. From it's location, tucked on the edge of the Shenandoahs but close enough to Charlottsville for an easy trip into the big city, to the hospitality, rooms, and the fabulous breakfast, the Inn at Sugar Hollow is a must for any visitor to the area. It is even worth planning a trip around.

But don't listen to me. Go somewhere else so I am sure to score the best accommodations in the area on my next trip to Charlottesville.

Everything about the Inn is first rate and I would be surprised to find any other property to match this one for price and comfort. Every review seems to mention Dick's wonderful breakfasts and now we know why! You don't need much lunch after tackling one of Dick's home cooked breakfasts. We were given a lovely welcome when we arrived and our four night stay in the Shenandoah Suite was superb. The Inn deserves all the praise that is given by other reviewers and we would love to return.
