My husband and I stayed at the Silver Thatch years ago and had a chance to be in Charlottesville again, so we chose to stay there again. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. The inn is really beautiful. We did not have a chance to try a beer in the appealing bar, nor did we get...

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such kind words! Feedback means so much and is greatly appreciated. We've just reopened Iggy's Wine & Brew Pub, a neighborhood pub at the Silver Thatch Inn, offering local & nationwide brews, wines, lite fare & music by our talented neighbors. We look forward to your next visit and having you...

We came here for a get-a-way in Virginia wine country. Its pretty close to a few wine trails so we picked this place as home base. The rooms were very nice. The beds were high. They even had a step for shorter visitors. When we arrived, we were greeted with a wine or beer. We drank that at one of...

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! I'm so sorry we weren't aware of your dietary needs, although we specifically ask in our confirmation if there are any food restrictions we need to know about for breakfast. After 18 years, we're happy to say we can accommodate all dietary needs and life style choices. When...

Terri and Jim are the ultimate in hosts. The breakfast was yummy and delightful! The mattresses are the best and we slept like babies. The Inn is 250 years old and you feel surrounded by history. The minute we walked in, we felt like it was "home." This was a family stay for a vineyard wedding. I have to say,...

It's been there a long time but has lost some ground. Dinners no longer available. Too bad, as it's 15 to 30 minutes into town to the good restaurants. Would be convenient to Univ. of Virginia if not for often horrible traffic. But quiet, peaceful, with wonderfully friendly hosts. Excellent breakfast included. Bathroom was dated and crowded. Perhaps for sale.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. You're absolutely right in some ways. When we bought the inn in 1998 this side of Charlottesville was pretty quiet, which is what we loved about Hollymead, (and still do,) and being in a community rather than downtown. We wanted our guests to be able to enjoy the...

Just returned from a stay at Silver Thatch Inn and couldn't be happier. We spent the night in the Thomas Jefferson room and loved it! The bed is super comfortable and the room is spotless and beautifully decorated. It was nice to light a fire and just relax in bed. Terri and Jim are so friendly and welcoming. They gave...

Jim and Terri thought of everything! Our stay couldn't have been nicer. The Thomas Jefferson Room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had everything we could need. They made dinner reservations for us; Terri's recommendations were excellent. Then there is the food at the inn... Jim's pulled pork hash was the best breakfast I have ever...

My wife and I were in the Charlottesville / Nelson county area recently, and we had a wonderful weekend at the inn. It's a beautiful property with an interesting history. The location of the inn is somewhat different, in that the surrounding area has been developed into a large community. But that doesn't detract from the inn; it's actually a...

Stayed at the Silver Thatch with my 17 year old daughter, while she made a college visit at UVA. I had lived and gone to school in Charlottesville for 12 years when I was a young adult. Thank you! While it's true we're not in downtown C'ville, nor 20 miles out in the middle of nowhere, there are definitely benefits to being away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charlottesville and in a friendly community: peace and quiet, little traffic, lots of jogging and walking areas with fresh air and friendly people doing the same!
