My husband and I have never stayed at a B&B and after MUCH research we chose the Dinsmore. Wow, what an amazing experience! We stayed in the Monroe room which was on the second floor and very comfortable (with big closet). PROS: The owners/staff....family feel, friendliness, amazing food (must try the pecan crusted French toast-delicious), comfortable bed, window A/C, very...

We really liked the history of this B&B, the location right next to the heart of the UVA campus, and the helpful staff. We stayed for two nights. Upon arrival, we parked in the Courtyard by Marriott's parking garage, where the B&B has some spots. Check-in was smooth. Our room was small but nicely decorated, with a flat-screen tv (there...

Dinsmore house inn from the website and in the flesh looks a lovely historic inn. We had just finished driving the blue ridge parkway so were keen to settle in then see the 'town from the Waltons'! Our room was lovely but I was slightly put off by the fact you had to get to your room by walking out...

DINSMOREHOUSE, Owner at The Dinsmore House Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review

The guest claims that they had no idea they were entering the innkeepers private quarters. There is a sign on the door that he entered that reads "PRIVATE" and another that reads "STAFF ONLY." Our innkeepers respect the privacy of our guests and expect the same in return. The guest was not lambasted or told off by the innkeeper. He...

We were very impressed with Dinsmore Inn. We hadn't realized that the same builder who made Monticello also constructed the Dinsmore and how ancient that hotel is. We were upgraded to a more luxurious room at no extra cost and told this is their standard procedure if such a room is available. We didn't even ask. We were also pleasantly...

If you plan on having a wedding at the UVA chapel, book the entire Inn! We loved every thing about the Inn, from the spacious, comfortable clean rooms, to the wonderful breakfasts, location, and friendly, accommodating staff. We were able to customize our breakfast choices, times, and even have other guests (for a small fee) come to the Inn and...

We stayed at the Dinsmore House for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The owners and staff bent over backwards to accommodate us and the other guests. The breakfast was delicious! (Afternoon tea and cookies yummy, too!) They have a library of movies and board games. Parking was easy and came without an extra charge. The staff purchased discounted...

The only thing good I can say about the Dinsmore is that the beds are comfortable. Our experience was terrible! We had rented the entire B&B for the weekend. There is no one to help with bags, our 1st evening the staff left ½ carafe of weak lemonade & 8 glasses for the entire house of guests, then left. The...

Awesome service by entire staff, including inn keeper himself! Afternoon cheese, crackers, fruit, and lemonade or wine available everyday. Very helpful with restaurant choices and locations. Our room was enormous and full of wonderful antiques and wonderfully comfortable king four poster bed. On a busy streeet with lots of traffic, but it quiets down later in the evening. Free trolley...

My wife and I stayed 10/03/10. This was our second stay there. The Dinsmore is in the heart of the city. It is within walking distance to the College, and many restaurants, and bars. I was afraid that the traffic outside might be too loud, but the houses thick walls insulate well from the street noise. We stayed in the...

The House has two parts--the main House and the adjoining Town House. The narrow stairway to the upper rooms of the Town House was in great need of attention. A dirty badly worn carpet and the handrail coming away loose from the wall--going back downstairs was particularly hazardous ! Our room was acceptable but looked "tired". (A couple in the...
