For the price the hotel was nice enough although it could stand a little updating. It was very clean and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. I had to place a towel under the sink to catch the water that was dripping and the water in the tub was up to my ankles by the time I finished...

Old world charm and service. Clean, comfortable Inn with large pool 1 mile to the University Campus. The rates are more than fair and unlike some hotels with fake curtains if you like to sleep in a little; the curtains can actually be closed. They also have a great, complimentary breakfast buffet. Best hotel for the price in the area....

The hotel seems a bit outdated, but it is clean, quiet and comfortable and well-priced. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff could definitely be friendlier and more welcoming, but overall it was a good choice.

We've stayed here many times and have enjoyed it and the breakfast. The breakfast is included and was better than breakfasts at other hotels. Friendly staff. Good location too - near UVA. Comfy beds too.

My husband and I were lucky enough to book the last available room for a Friday night, it was a King suite. This suite was the size of an apartment! Check in was quick and friendly and breakfast the next morning was a wonderful bonus. Inn is in a good, easy to get to location. I would stay there again...

Our experience in the English Inn was pleasant is every way except that the whole building was uncomfortably cold the entire week. The staff were very cordial, breakfast was excellent, the location was good, bed was nice and clean - the temperature was difficult to control due to the age of the system but all the people in our group...

The English Inn is a perfectly acceptable hotel located within fantastic walking distance of John Paul Jones Arena (approx 15-20 min walk). Upon checking in, we were given our choice of floor for our room, which I liked, but when we got upstairs our room *reeked* of smoke, almost as if someone had been smoking in it that very morning....

Like home away from home. The kitchen had a microwave and full refrigerator. The dining area had enough room for us to eat at the table together and play games. The family room had enough space to feel right at home. Very clean, very roomy. Wonderful amenities. Fabulous Sunday breakfast buffet. Great pool!!

Nice rooms, clean but a little outdated. Very friendly staff. The English Inn truly feels like an iEnglish countryside inn. Free breakfast is good. Convenient location to shopping and Charlottesville Downtown Mall and UofV campus.

I really relaxed here, although I was only in town for two days. The one thing I think is not entirely accurate is the "english tea time" description. The tea is tea bags, hot water, styrofoam, and the food was promised warm cookies, although I didn't see any at the time it was meant to start.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. I understand we use plastic utensils, for "Afternoon tea". We do what we can to keep the pricing of the rooms and the stay, at the best prices and value as possible. The cookies do start at 4:00 pm and we try to replenish as swiftly as possible, they do go...
