My husband and I had a wonderful stay here in mid-October. The breakfast was excellent and included fresh, organic meat and produce from their farm. We stayed in the Randolph room which was very large, had a comfortable bed, charming decor, and a working gas fireplace. There were so many nice touches throughout the B&B, including plenty of books and... More

Thank you, Katherine and Michael for your lovely recollection of your get-away to the farm. It is so refreshing to have our guests' appreciation of the little things that we sometimes take for granted. We are so grateful for your reminder! More

My husband and I visited Smithfield Farm while in Washington for business . We wanted a getaway weekend somewhere quiet and peaceful . Smithfield Farm was a delight. It is set beautifully in the Virginian landscape and the home of 8 generations of the same family is sensitively restored as a bed and breakfast within an organic working farm .... More

The pictures do not do this place justice! As you drive down the long driveway, you can see rolling hills, the old apple orchard, a trail that goes around the property, bee hives and a creek all before you reach the stately house. Ruth and Betsy are super lovely! Ruth greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. We... More

We stayed at Smithfield Farm while passing through on the way to a family meeting in Pennsylvania. One of the best travel decisions we ever made! The house and grounds are fabulously interesting, having been in the family since 1816. Ruth and Betsy are wonderful hosts, and facilitated our stay in every way. We stayed in the Jacquelin Room, which... More

My wife and I stayed at the Smifthfield Farm Bed and Breakfast this past July. Superlatives can only characterize this B&B. We loved it and the experience of being there. Arriving late, we let ourselves in. Awaiting us just inside was a welcome card and freshly cut flowers. Also just inside and on the wall was a sketch of Stonewall... More

I decided to give myself a special night in the countryside and boy was it special! A warm welcome from Ruth and Betsy, amazing room, super cookies and soft drinks on tap, a lovely garden to sit in, Civil War and family stories, a delicious pancake breakfast and two super walks including exploring the farm "go wherever you like"! We stayed for our anniversary and had a fabulous time. First, the inn is a history buff's dream. The homestead is 200 years old! The drive to the inn transports you back in time. You meander down a gravel road through the farm lands. We saw cows, sheep, and pigs. As you crest a small hill, the inn appears. It... More

This was an amazing weekend. Betsy and Ruth are wonderful host. Makes you feel like family. The note left for us was such a special touch. The breakfast was great, made with fresh eggs from the farm! Being able to walk around the farm was so nice. Thank you again Betsy and Ruth for making this a wonderful place.
