On a recent road trip, my husband and I lucked into last minute accommodations in the Nebbiolo Cottage. We chose this vineyard to visit because we had recently enjoyed a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon. We felt as though we were in Tuscany at the cottage. The staff was wonderful, the Cabernet Sauvignon, fruit, cheese and crackers we enjoyed when... More

Love the Barboursville Vineyards such quaint cottages for a long VA weekend! No WiFi or TV but who cares! You have wine to taste and a wine dinner to do! You can also rent a limo and visit other local vineyards by day. A great place to relax, just breathe and uncork the wine! And Felicia in The 1804 Inn... More

I booked a trip for my spouse's birthday. The suites in the inn were already booked. I was slightly disappointed. However some of the suites in the close by cottages were available. Glad I went ahead and booked the Vermintino suite! The online photos on the website do not do it justice. The suite was beautifully appointed and one of... More

My husband and I toured wineries in the Barboursvill area and stayed 2 nights at the 1804 Inn. The room/cottage is old but cleans :-/ quaint. He service is lacking. The kitchen area leaves to be desired and if we wanted a hot breakfast, we had to heat up an omelet left in the refrigerator. We never got the cereal... More

We went as a special day celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a cottage. Hard to justify its price let alone that of the Inn. Room was attractive bed was incredibly high (steps provided) but comfortable. Bath very adequate. Comfortable seating for reading. Main issue would be the way they handle breakfast. It's a do it yourself system.... More

When searching for a place to vacation without the kids, my wife and I prefer to slow things down and enjoy the finer elements of life, which is exactly what led us to The 1804 Inn of Barboursville Vineyards. I actually stumbled on this gem while browsing through a listing of small towns in Virginia, and once I started researching... More

We stayed in one of the cottages at the 1804 Inn. It was charming and peaceful. A little strange check in and check out experience, but all worked out well. We enjoyed the room and deck out back under the trees overlooking a farm. So relaxing. There is no internet or TV, but we survived. The breakfast provided was nice.... More

We spent a weekend at the Sangiovese Cottage, surrounded by beautiful fields and flowers. The cottage has a private balcony where we often saw the local cows and horses. The accommodations were fine, the breakfast quiche and locally cured bacon delicious, and the walks along the vineyards, historic ruins, and grounds were relaxing and enjoyable. Access to the Barboursville winery... More

Our stay at the 1804 Inn was short, but enjoyable and fairly unique. We stayed in the Moscato Suite in the Blue Run Cottage and arrived late, so the staff left a key for us at the front door. The Cottage itself is a bit down the road from the main building, and the drive there at night was fun... More

We had been told of this winery by the owner of a well known Providence, RI restaurant and in researching the Barboursville Winery we were happy to see that they also had some rooms in the Inn itself and a few cottages. Since we were driving back home from a trip to Myrtle Beach, we decided to make this out... More

“The Cottage we stayed in was the best for solitude and quiet. The other 2 cottages are attached.”

“The Sangiovese was really nice - and I think the other cottages would be as well. The main inn looks really fascinating - that kind of rustic, rural, historic Virginia location.”
 of 5 bubbles FSO_RCarlP3, 9 Jun 2014 | Read review
“The Blue Run Cottage has three suites. Pinto Grigio shares a deck with Vermentino, while Moscato is on the other side of the cottage and has its own porch. If your family/group is staying in two suites, it is probably best to occupy Vermentino and Pinot Grigio so that you don't have to share your deck with some strangers. The Inn itself has gorgeous, spacious suites with a large verandah. They do not have their own kitchens and they do have TV. They cost more and come with buffet breakfast.”

“I think the Blue Run Cottage which has three suites, Moscato, Vermentino and Pinot Grigio is the best placed of the cottages. It sits a little further back on the property and the setting is lovely.”
