Historic hotel that could have a lot of potential. Has been renovated somewhat but needs some additional improvements and TLC. Paper thin walls and noisy hallways. The front desk staff were incompetent, rude and unhelpful. Old dirty carpets, tile, shower, radiators, etc. (see pictures). Our visit was in November and the overnight temperature was about 32 degrees. Unfortunately the removable... More

This review has a back story and I feel it only fair to report it. The reviewer was attending the wedding of his neice. The wedding party dominated the hotel and the expectable socializing and partying in the halls and rooms near his ensued. For them it was all a very good (noisy but not destructive- just a boisterous family... More

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 4 September 2016

Our room was actually two rooms, with a bathroom in between. We had a living room with sofa, desk, tv, and then a bedroom with another tv. The hotel is not named after President Coolidge but rather his father. I was sorry not to be staying in the area longer, as the whole town looked relaxed, and a wonderful place... More

Still wondering if it's haunted. the living couldn't sleep in this place it was that loud and busy in the halls most of the night.... this is the 3rd hotel on the site. The other 2 burned. I think i know why, as they didn't turn on the heat until 8 this morning. In my case, it's about the experience.... More

Sharon - I'd like to respond to your review. I am the one who was engaged in the argument that you witnessed and I agree - you should not have had to endure that. I would much prefer to have handled that differently. What I failed to realize was the person with whom I was speaking was under the influence... More

stayed two nights in Room 210 in the hostel side! Great room, high ceilings, two chairs and dresser, painted wood floor, USMC-style bunk bed reminiscent of summer camp as a kid! Slept most soundly!!! Bathroom across hall. Peter Gish (USMC) murals in Vermont Room and BoHo Cafe outstanding! Coffee and computer access in lobby- Tom and Bernie at desk very... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night on a trip through Vermont, would definitely rate max 3* although rooms were large and shower was good. Very old fashioned so interesting but rooms need some basic modernisation for example some of the plugs didn't work. The location is handy for dinner nearby - we went to 'Big Fatty's BBQ' which offered... More

We stayed a night here on a short Vermont tour weekend, had hoped to find an antique gem, but found it to be lacking in many areas. Aside from the lobby there was very little antique charm - rooms are rather plain (50's vintage +/- ?), many tired interior finishes, a walk around the outside of the building added nothing... More

One of these days we'll get 1/2 stars on TA and Yelp but until then... I'm feeling generous so going for the higher amount but it's really pretty basic. Yes there's history here which is cool and the room was fine, but it needs some spiffing up for sure. We had a two bedroom with a bathroom in the middle,... More

I wanted to break up my drive from Burlington to Boston, and not deal with Friday traffic, so stayed at the Hotel Coolidge in WRJ. I had been here several times decades earlier in the spartan hostel rooms, which I was surprised to learn they still had. I think it would be fair to describe this place as defiantly retro... More

I went to White River Junction for three months, March-June 2016, for a contract job, coming over from the USA west coast. Despite the rural location, the area is *expensive* because of a nearby university and a teaching hospital. The job did not pay much, so the only place I could afford was Hotel Coolidge's long-term stay (called Coolidge House.... More

If I hadn't booked in advance we most likely would have taken a pass on staying here. But would have missed the experience of staying in a hotel with such charm. Outwardly the hotel could use some cosmetic work. The inside was a treat. We stayed midweek when the hotel was slow, so we were upgraded to a larger room... More
