My wife and I stayed at Sun and Ski inn for a night during a recent ski trip to Stowe.
There are a lot of lodging options in the area, and many are pricey. Because the focus of our visit was skiing, we weren’t looking for a lot of amenities. Rather we just wanted an affordable, comfortable place to sleep after a long day on the slopes.
Sun and Ski provided this, along with cheerful service.

Check-in was contactless, with room key card and paperwork left in a mailbox just outside the office. Our king room was clean and tidy and equipped with a small table and 2 chairs, mini fridge and microwave, and a small TV set. There was a separate bathroom with tub and toilet, and a good sized sink area with a large well lit mirror just outside. A sliding back door looked out on a stream and snow covered lawn. Our king bed was comfortable but equipped with only 3 half-sized pillows, making it hard to sit up in bed and watch TV. This was our only real complaint, and minor at that. We did find an extra pillow in the room, but it would have been nice if all the pillows provided were full sized, particularly for a king sized bed.
The walls are a bit thin, and our neighbors sounded like they were running laps next door for a bit. I’ll assume they had kids, although we didn’t see any. Fortunately, they eventually quieted down and we slept fairly well.

We dropped our key cards and contact information at the front desk in the morning and were offered a choice of boxed continental breakfast. Our boxes contained a hard boiled egg, string cheese, a rolled up ham slice, an orange and a small danish. Pre-packaged juices and excellent coffee are also offered in the lobby. The few employees we encountered were very pleasant.

Sun and Ski has an adjacent bowling alley and restaurant, which looks nice, but was not open on our Tuesday night stay. Cocktails and beer are offered, along with a pub style menu. We would have enjoyed bowling a few strings and having some drinks and snacks. Maybe next time. There is also an indoor pool which guests can use by reservation, but we didn’t partake on this visit. Looked nice though.

All in all, a good value for the area. I’d recommend bringing your own pillow.

Good afternoon Ihsahn. At Sun & Ski Inn and Suites we wholeheartedly agree that a fantastic night’s sleep on a comfortable mattress bedecked with harmonious linens is the cornerstone of any enjoyable lodging experience, so please accept our apologizes regarding the size of your pillows and be assured that your concerns will be forwarded to our operations team for further review and discussion. It was pleasing to learn the remainder of your time at our Inn was exemplary and exceeded your expectations. As another epic ski season winds down and thoughts of spring, summer and fall begin to take seed, we would ask that you please keep our Inn at the top of your list when your travels return you to the majestic Green Mountain State. It would be wonderful to host you and yours again at Sun & Ski in June, July or August as summer is an especially active, event packed season which boasts over half of Stowe’s “Signature Events” taking place during these pleasant days and crisp, cool nights. Whether you fancy the Arts, road racing or simply browsing through locally grown produce, handcrafted goods, handmade breads, pastries and more at the Stowe Farmers’ Market, it is certain to be an extra special time period and one to remember as we emerge from the events of the past year. Take care.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Sun & Ski Inn. We stayed in the Deluxe King Suite which is located in the main building. They have the main building which houses the lounge, breakfast room, bowling alley, pool, hot tub and restaurant. Our room was located above the bowling alley, so we could hear a little noise from it, but it closes early so it was not a problem. Our room was very quiet, but it was located at the end of the hallway. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed (not that we used it much), and the bathroom was nice. They had cookies and hot chocolate waiting for us when we got back from skiing. The breakfast was a minimal step above what Hampton Inn serves, with the hot food being slightly better. Since we were located in the main building, it made it very convenient to try the pool and hot tub. There is a changing room for people who come from other buildings. The hot tub accommodates 4-6 people. There is a free bus that stops across the street to take you to slopes. During the week it runs every 30 minutes, on the weekend every 15 minutes, or you can drive yourself. There are lots of restaurants nearby with very diverse menus.

Good morning. Your thoughtful, detailed review of your recent stay experiences at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites is greatly appreciated and a thorough synopsis of many of the wonderful amenities we offer our guests. As diehard skiers, we would like to welcome you back to our Inn to enjoy a pair of upcoming races that are sure to thrill and take your winter adventures next level. The first is one of the oldest and most unique ski races in North America and will return to Stowe for its 75th year. On February 23, 2020 the tradition of the Stowe Derby will once again bring together generations of families from all over to take part in the challenging 20 kilometer (km) cross-country ski course throughout Stowe. This race has provided lasting memories to participants as they ski down Mount Mansfield’s Toll Road and along the Stowe Recreation Path before reaching the finish in beautiful Stowe village and boasts a total vertical drop of almost 2,700 feet. The second is one of the most recognized alpine races in America, the Stowe Sugar Slalom, a two-day event that attracts more than 1,000 avid racers, and up to 6,000 spectators, and makes its annual return to the majestic peaks of Mount Mansfield on April 4-5, 2020. Originating as a festive occasion to signal the tapping of Maple trees, the Sugar Slalom is held in a Mardi Gras atmosphere complete with music, BBQ on the hill, ski racing and festive costumes. The race will also feature traditional Vermont treats, such as sugar on snow, maple and cider donuts and pickles at the finish, which clearly signals that the fun is about to begin in earnest... See you later this season! Take care.

My husband and I could only get away for 1 night, but it was so incredibly worth it. Virtual check in went very smoothly. Lots of notices for the public were posted, taking every effort to keep staff and travelers safe. The room was very spacious and I was surprised with a nice cool room, set to 72*. We ordered take out from a local restaurant, and ate our dinner in our suite. The bed, oh my goodness. So comfy! The duvet was light and we slept great. We truly enjoyed the “Breakfast To Go”. Being able to pick up a breakfast box and coffee, while social distancing, and being able to enjoy it in our room, was really nice. Everything was very clean.

Good morning Donna. It was our pleasure hosting you and your husband on your 20th wedding anniversary as you celebrated the beautiful life you have built together. As you wrote, we have taken our housekeeping protocols “next-level” with enhanced cleaning and safety standards in place property-wide, including hospital-grade disinfectants, hand sanitizing stations and a host of protective social distancing guidelines. We are welcoming guests back and serving them safely! It is wonderful to read that you found your expansive Deluxe Suite impeccably appointed, meticulously detailed & exceeding your expectations as well as partaking in & enjoying our new Breakfast-To-Go which has been a successful spin on our guest-favorite buffet breakfast. It is still everything you have come to know and love about our morning meal but now housed in a recyclable to-go box—great to pack for an early-morning hike or perhaps a picnic by the river with friends and loved ones. As you undoubtedly noticed while with us , there is a chill in the air and that can only mean one thing—winter is nigh and all of the low country and alpine activities associated with copious amounts of sparkling powder are nearly upon us. Picture for a moment your husband and yourself mounting a powerful horse-drawn sleigh in anticipation of viewing the awe inspiring natural beauty of the distant rolling hills and idyllic countryside, pristine and soundless as you glide through dramatic stands of early pine, white birch and aspen, and just beyond, mountain vistas that reach for the sky… A relaxing outing that is a true Vermont experience and the perfect way to share in the spirit of the holidays with one’s family. Take care.

I was so impressed with this property! First of all the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pool was incredible with a view of the river. Also, it was relaxing in the hammock overlooking the river and the nightlife was superb with a fire or bowling. Another perk was a walking path to some excellent restaurants. In addition, a healthy breakfast was provided. I would definitely stay here again as I felt a very relaxing vibe here and it was reasonably priced.

The only thing I would change is a very small change, but it would be a significant change if you could use made in the USA soap products. Made in Canada would be acceptable as well, but I can’t stand the China facial soap.

Thank you for the great stay!

Good afternoon. The thoughtful, detailed summation you provided of your stay experiences at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites certainly touched upon and highlighted all the best we have to offer our guests and their families which is why we are known as the premier “family-friendly” & “family-fun” lodging choice in not just Vermont but in all New England. As you wrote, our “To-Go-Breakfast” which was implemented in 2020 has been well received as our guests are now able to savor a morning picnic with friends and family, partake in the privacy of their guestroom or suite, or even load everything into their backpacks and hit the trails early. There is not much to add to your glowing, to-the-point review but to say thank you, invite you & your lovely family to vacation with us again, and, as the sun-drenched days and cool nights of fall are nearly over, it can only mean one thing—winter is nigh, and all the low country and alpine activities associated with copious amounts of snow are nearly upon us. Picture for a moment your and yours mounting a powerful horse-drawn sleigh in anticipation of viewing the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the distant rolling hills and idyllic countryside, pristine and soundless as you glide through dramatic stands of early pine, white birch, and aspen, and just beyond, mountain vistas that reach for the sky… A relaxing outing that is a true Vermont experience and the perfect way to share in the spirit of the holidays with friends and family. We stayed here for just a weekend and the only thing we regret was not staying longer. The staff and Sun & Ski Inn and Suites were extremely welcoming and very helpful when we had any questions. They never hesitated to help us.

A little story. I went to the bowling alley (Stowe Bowl) to grab some food and the gentlemen who attended to me was super kind, he even brought the food to my room (I am pregnant and closer to my due date). When he got there I had told him to give me a second so I can grab him a tip. Well turns out he did not want my tip, so I was a little bummed out. But it also turns out he was the owner !!!! How cool is that ? When I say this place is awesome it really is.

Everyone was super professional but also really friendly. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you Sun & Ski for a great weekend.

Good morning Erdivania. Thank you for choosing Sun & Ski Inn and Suites as your journey’s end while touring pastoral Stowe, Vermont and for your thoughtful, detailed review. The recounting of your interaction with one of the property owners is reflective of the elevated level of caring and unparalleled service expectations instilled within all members of the Sun & Ski family. That said, kind words such as what you wrote are always appreciated and your comments will certainly be shared with the entirety of our staff. It would be wonderful to host you and your lovely family again later this year as there is no better place to be in late summer or early fall than in the cool climes of resplendent Stowe, Vermont. One weekend event that flies a bit under the radar that may interest you—and is a favorite of locals--is this years 5th Annual "Gardens of Stowe" which takes place on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 and consists of a self-guided garden tour that winds visitors through some of Stowe’s most unique and interesting private and commercial gardens. It is a rain-or-shine event with a tea party reception and live entertainment in the afternoon. Thank you again for allowing us to host you and yours at everyone’s family-favorite and family-fun landing place in all New England, and we look forward to hosting you when your travels return you once more to the best vacation destination in the East. Take care.

Upon arrival staff was not very friendly. I was greeted with check in time is at 3pm. Then she said that she would check to see if our room was ready. She came back and said it would be 15 minutes. We waited more than 15 minutes before I went up and asked if the room was ready I was told that the room would not be ready for another 30 minutes. To get ice there is only one place 2nd floor of main building. This was not a problem until the elevator was out of order and you had to take the stairs. Then one of the days of our visit there was no water apparently a pipe burst but we are not sure because we were never informed about why there was no water. The company that came to take care of the problem park right in our parking spot in front of our room not just one day but two. We had to park in the parking lot for visitors. I asked at one point how long we would be without water in our room and got a blank Steer and no answer. Later that day I asked if we stayed at the hotel do we get any discount for the bowling and the answer I got was that’s a them question. So I said do you mean I have to ask the people in the bowling alley and the answer was yes. What I don’t understand is why wouldn’t someone at the front desk know that answer. When I looked up on line the price for 1 hour it was $56 dollars. I think that if you’re a paying customer of the hotel you should get some kind of a discount. I will never stay here ever again. I will say that the room was clean and that the bed was comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the new wing connected to the main hotel in a junior suite and it was a good size for our family of 4. Bed was comfortable with comfy pillows and blanket, room was very clean and nicely decorated, hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Bathroom is a little small but new and clean. We loved the fireplace room and the board games in there and the indoor pool was great too. The evening cookies and all day hot chocolate and tea was a nice touch too. We also liked that free breakfast was included and that the hotel was connected to a cute bowling alley. The hotel is very close to Stowe and conveniently located near all the restaurants. It was a great place to stay for our Stowe ski trip and really had everything we were looking for. We prefer the skiing at Okemo and Killington but if we ever come back to Stowe we would definitely stay here again.

Good morning. It was wonderful to read that you found your expansive Junior Suite impeccably appointed, meticulously detailed and exceeding your expectations, and your comments concerning our pleasant and accommodating Sun & Ski staff are most appreciated and will be shared with all departments. We are pleased you were able to attend our long-established afternoon tea & cookies, fresh coffee, hot cocoa and spiced eggnog service, a holiday Sun & Ski Inn and Suites tradition which generations of families have enjoyed with us each day at 3 p.m. for countless years. What could be better than sampling delicious housemade baked goods fresh from our ovens as you and your loved ones sit by a roaring fire, read a classic from our extensive library’s collection of titles or challenge yourselves to one of our many timeless board game offerings? Add in a complimentary mouth-watering breakfast, a “Best in Town” location, and a few epic games rolling strikes & spares, and a great stay is guaranteed! While Okemo and Killington do have great skiing, only we boast the most recognized alpine race in America, the Stowe Sugar Slalom, a two-day event that attracts more than 1,000 avid racers and up to 6,000 spectators and makes its annual return to the majestic peaks of Mount Mansfield on April 4 of this year. Join our Stowe Area Association partners at Stowe Mountain Resort for a weekend of celebrating springs arrival; all participants are invited to dress up in costumes best representing the “Spring Celebration” theme. Originating as a festive occasion to signal the tapping of Maple trees, the Sugar Slalom is held in a Mardi Gras atmosphere complete with music, BBQ on the hill, ski racing and festive costumes. The race will also feature traditional Vermont treats, such as sugar on snow, maple and cider donuts--and pickles at the finish, which clearly signals that the fun is about to begin in earnest... My boyfriend and I came from Boston to experience Stowe, and we loved all of it, including the Sun & Ski Inn And Suites. The hotel did a great job implementing health and safety protocols, and I felt safe the whole time. The give you complementary breakfast to go, as well as snacks and treats in the afternoon. The inn sits right on a river, with hammocks and adirondak chairs to sit and relax. There's also a fire-pit, which is fun at night. Rooms were in great condition - and the hotel is in a very walkable area.

Hello- This was our second trip to Sun and Ski Inn and Suites in Stowe and each time has been wonderful. We chose this inn because they are very dog friendly. We have a 115 lb German Shepherd and it is nice to have him come with us on trips. The rooms open up in the back from a sliding glass door to a roomy open area that is next to a babbling brook. It’s a nice place to relax and walk our dog. The rooms are clean and well-organized. I have stayed in other “dog-friendly” hotels that smell like urine or put you in the worst rooms (old smoking rooms) because you have a pet. Not here.

The inn also has bowling and miniature golf that the kids love. The inn also is conveniently located just off of the exercise path that you can use to walk/bike to Stowe and many restaurants safely.

In addition, staff is very friendly and helpful if you need anything at the in or have any questions about things to do. Excellent place to stay while you are away from home!

Good morning Jennifer. At Sun & Ski Inn and Suites we are nothing if not unique as we are the only lodging facility in all New England to boast family-friendly and family-fun onsite amenities such as a swanky 8-lane boutique bowling lounge & eatery, a challenging 18-hole miniature replica golf course, and a sparkling indoor pool, 104-degree open-air Jacuzzi & modern Fitness Center. As you learned, we also pride ourselves on being the most pet-friendly establishment anywhere by offering guests delightful pup-specific riverside patio guestrooms and suites which allow your tail-wagger to easily access our expansive lawns and the always-flowing, crystal-clear waters of the West Branch of the snow-fed Little River. And, just a few paw steps in any direction, there are enough trees, fence posts and lamp poles to keep any pooch happy and content as they frolic among the many natural physical features found on our ten+ acre property. With our Inn close to everything as you experienced come perks, with one our being across Mountain Road from Stowe’s most heralded event and where you can let your spirits soar as more than 25 hot air balloons fill the sky at the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. View breathtaking launches and enjoy live entertainment all while sitting back and relaxing with offerings from the beer and wine garden. Balloon rides and tethered rides are available, as well as a children’s area for those not quite ready to take to the skies. This signature event is hosted within walking distance of our Inn and is a Vermont Chamber Top 10 Summer Event, with the highlight of the 3-day weekend being the sunset and sunrise launches. The sunset launches take place during the festival, with the kid’s activities, games, food, and a beer/wine garden in full effect, while the sunrise launches offer a unique opportunity to visit the pilots prior to the launch. Be sure to reserve your accommodations early, however, as this event is world-renowned, attracting visitors from around the globe. Take care.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here and wished we could have stayed longer! The reception staff (David and Michelle) are eager to assist in any way to make your experience in the Inn and area great. The premises are spotless and well maintained. The gardens (with a fire pit) and landscaping are given a lot of attention. The combination of having a daily breakfast, a large, warm indoor pool, hot tub, mini golf, bicycles and bowling alley onsite are out of the ordinary and a real bonus. Our room was spacious and as mentioned earlier spotless and tip top (as all facilities were too). The Inn is across from a 10 mi recreation trail to walk, run or bike. There are many trails in the area for hikes of all levels. The restaurant selection in Stowe is expansive but due to employee shortages many have abbreviated schedules. Be sure to book your dinners ahead of time.

Good afternoon Randee. Thank you for the thoughtful, detailed review of your recent stay at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites as you toured the historic village, surrounding rolling hills & idyllic countryside while witness to the spectacle of brilliant colors of the native sugar maples as they turned from multiple shades of green to fiery reds, warm-toned oranges, and magnificent golds. As you experienced, each staff member at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites places guest satisfaction at the very top of their list, so thank you for acknowledging their efforts and we will share your sentiments with the entire team. It was wonderful having you and your husband at our Inn and it would be our pleasure to host you again. And, as fabulous as Sun & Ski is during the crisp, clear days of autumn, the quintessential Vermont adventure starts when a thick blanket of sparkling snow envelopes the frosty landscape and regular snowstorms deposit copious amounts of powder through pristine fields on a peak that averages more than 300 inches of snow annually. Sharing the spirit of the outdoors in wintertime with friends and family as you create cherished memories that will last a lifetime is a wonderful Sun & Ski tradition that can be yours. Take care.
