Clean rooms, though everything about this inn is very dated. Looks like the day it opened, I'm sure. That being said, the accommodations were fine for our ski trip and the room was clean and pretty comfortable. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay.
This was one of the cheapest place to stay in Stowe on the holiday weekend. Its about a 20 minute walk in to the town. The hotel itself is very sad looking, it really needs updating and refurbishing / redecorating. Our room was clean and spacious though and there is plenty of parking. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi but the jacuzzi wasn't working, pool was nice though. The grounds are lovely with the lake and the veranda at the back but the restaurant was shut, which was a shame.
The staff are incredibly friendly, the communal areas are pleasant and there’s a good selection of teas and coffees for guests in the lobby. The hotel itself however is somewhat dated and in great need of some TLC. There was peeling wallpaper in the corridors and the keys/room locks are so old that they get stuck and are really difficult to open. The indoor pool was a lovely temperature after a long hike but the jacuzzi wasn’t working despite being told it was open - it was warm, there were just no bubbles and I question its cleanliness. That said, we had a nice time, the beds were comfortable and rooms spacious and given the good price compared with other places in the area it was fine for a couple of nights, and although it probably doesn’t deserve a ‘very’ good rating, a rating of average also seems a little unfair. The restaurant was also closed. It’s a shame as you can clearly see the potential here, it just needs a bit of love and modernisation.…
The Commodores Inn has seen better days and need a facelift. Room was clean but wallpaper peeling off in places and a hole in the wall that needed patching. Could just stand an update and new towels. A bit overpriced for what it was.
One night stay in Stowe on a road trip. Inn is dated and smells musty. Room was spacious and although comfortable felt very old fashioned. Towels were rough and off white. Coffee on site but both pools closed when we stayed. Good distance to Stowe. Looked as though there were much better places to stay in the area but this was booked by an agent as part of a tour. Not sure I would have booked it myself!
We visited now because of a friend's wedding. We had a two queen room which was comfortable and clean. Special thanks to Shauna who made sure we were well supplied in our room. There is coffee and tea in the lobby along with a microwave. Our room had a refrigerator. The parking is free. It is a short walk to downtown Stowe.
walked into the lobby and you are hit with a musty smell. room was really large and not too smelly. 2 comfy beds. tub was awkward because it is contoured for a seat, so the floor of the tub was slanted which can affect someone with bad footing. the outside pool was very nice, clean and well kept. the indoor pool and hot tub were closed for repairs. there is no food on site. just coffee in lobby. vending machines were empty. we only stayed one night, so although the hotel has seen better days, it was sufficient. towels were rough. there is a small pond behind the hotel with kayaks, which we did not try.
We stayed here for 2 nights in August. On the outside this is an attractive place. It has an outdoor pool and a large pond where they offer canoes and kayaks and a pedal boat to enjoy the pond. I swam in the pool and it was lovely. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. They provide good amenities. The problem was a guest, I believe a long-term guest, in the next room who was allowed to smoke. The Vermont State law prohibits inside smoking in all hotels and motels. On the surface this place seems to be complying. You have to sign a statement that you will not smoke in your room. They have signs on the outside doors that if you smoke you will be charged $250 and evicted. Well in practice this is not what happens. I complained to the front desk staff member on both nights about someone smoking in their room. The first night I couldn't determine which room, but by the second night I figured out it was the room next to ours. I hate smoking and it bothers me a lot. I complained verbally and formally about this and nothing was done. I emailed the owner, no reply. We will not be going there again and you may not want to either.…
Excellent value, close to the mountain and restaurants, clean and warm. Even more Importantly the people that work there are helpful, friendly, and honest. I left an Important item in the room and they found it and mailed it back to me within 3 days. Definitely going back.
The Commodore Inn is in need of extensive repairs and updates. The place is falling apart, filthy, and clearly neglected. Peeling wallpaper, carpet stains, rusted and busted heat vents, mismatched paint cover-ups, hair in the bathtub/shower….it is all gross. Do NOT go into the pool or hot tub as they have not been cleaned or treated properly. We got into the hot tub and immediately realized it was covered in slim and the filters were completely covered and black from hair and gunk buildup. We immediately got out and showered. The BIGGEST issue, however, was how we were treated last night. Around 11:15pm we were awakened by someone ENTERING OUR ROOM. I yelled out hello?!? and they quickly shut the door and left. About 15 minutes later we were woken up yet again, but this time by a woman banging on the door screaming at us to come out and leave the room or she was calling the cops. My husband quickly got up, in a state of confusion and disbelief, only to be threatened and screamed at more to get up and out. Once dressed, he opened the door to find a small elderly hotel clerk escorted by whom we assuming was security. My husband was completely calm, but this lady was furious. He walked down to the lobby with the two as she told my husband we were not to be in the room as our stay was only for one night and again, if we didn’t leave immediately she was calling the authorities. She then clicked around on the computer to discover that we were in fact booked for 2 nights and the previous check-in clerk put us in the hand written “books” for only 1 night AND in a different room than written. Talk about WILDLY bizarre and inappropriate. Hard to fall back asleep after being woken up like that and treated so poorly. The next morning we asked for a manager to call us, but still no word from The Commodore. I want my money back from this dirty, unwelcoming place. NEVER going back and I hope no one else does either.…
