We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Property is clean but clearly needs some general upkeeping that has not been done in quite some time. Curtains were falling off hooks, paint was chipping and lock on our door was very tricky to lock.

We came The Stowehoff on our honeymoon 25 years ago, and returned for our silver celebration. We love the slightly rustic elegance - a “not too big, not too small” inn than calms, welcomes and envelopes with the warmth of spatial wisdom. It’s hard not to feel settled and “at home” here. Beautiful and well-kept grounds and rare views. The only thing that diminished our stay was the news that the inn has been sold and will be closing in a month. Shame on the new owners for their apparent blindness or disregard for this gem. We would eagerly and affectionately return, but…

We came to the Stowehof for my birthday trip. Traveled 6 hours, the place sits in a beautiful nook in the mountains of Vermont. Everyone is warm and friendly, they make you feel right at home. It could be a little cleaner but it didn’t ruin the experience because once we brought it to their attention they were concerned and offered to make it right. It was probably just an oversight and not a usual occurrence. Over all the place felt nice and cozy in the mountains.

No food or bar on site, in spite of website and sign out front saying otherwise. No fire pit (summer) they dress tables up and have no kitchen staff or meals onsite….felt like we were in the movie The Shining. Don’t stay here…

Great view from the pool, but this stay is not worth the cost. Appears that it was a relic of the past. Smells and feels like an old camp. Very disappointed with the facility especially for the cost. It seemed as if it was one of the old abandoned buildings that you see people explore on YouTube.

We checked in and the rooms were deplorable. There was mold everywhere. The carpets were disgusting and smelled terribly. One of the parties we were traveling with changed rooms four times. The restaurant and bar were not open. We all ended up checking out upon arrival and went to the Top Notch down the street. DO NOT STAY HERE.

My wife and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. We ventured up to northern Vermont for the brewery scene and we booked this hotel in particular because of their craft beer package which we should have received 2 beers and 2 pint glasses upon check in. There was no mention of this upon check in and the process felt rushed so I didn't have a chance to ask about it. Missing out on the beers and glasses (which I collect from breweries) was disappointing, and our room not having any sort of mini-fridge was also disappointing. Our room was very spacious with a great view however; if our balcony was private it would have made it that much better, My wife raved about how comfortable our king-sized bed was, and the cleanliness of the room was notable despite no housekeeping service offered. Overall, this hotel is in a fabulous location in Stowe, central to all necessities and close to many wonderful restaurants. Never got to try the outdoor pool, although it looked lovely. Points off for not getting my pint glass and beer, but the value of the hotel made up for it a bit.

Quirky and so fun. My kids helped themselves to the coffee/hot cocoa bar regularly and loved exploring around every corner (and I felt comfortable letting them do that). It’s been almost 3 months and they still talk about The Stowehof several times a week. It’s a gem.

If you're coming in the winter, I'd really recommend staying elsewhere, especially if you care at all about your health and safety during the pandemic. The hotel common spaces were really cool and had a great feel to them, but they aren't huge or seemingly well-ventilated. The pool, sauna, and hottub are very small with no ventilation. If it's winter, that's all you get from this place. The room we had felt like an old crappy motel room, truly below the level of a Holiday Inn. There was a single chair in the room other than the bed. No desk or table. Nothing. There are large wardrobes, but the utility of them was limited by the 4 hangers. The heat sounded like your room was being filled with water. It was really noisy when it came on. The room doors are easily slammed and this created unpleasant noises during all times. This really could be a nice place, but they desperately need to renovate the rooms. We stayed two nights and the restaurant and bar was closed the entire time.

The Stowehof is a gem. I enjoyed morning coffee in the common room watching the fog lift to a gorgeous mountain view. At night we sat by the fire, one of two that were going every night, with a glass of wine. The hot tub was very clean and so relaxing after a day of skiing. Shared a twin room with my daughter with comfy beds and linens. Coffee, tea and ice water is available 24/7, and buckets of ice for our room on request. We skipped the buffet and enjoyed breakfasts down the street at the Round Hearth Inn. I'm so glad we took the chance after reading these reviews. It is nothing short of delightful.
