Tälta Lodge, a Bluebird by Lark, garners praise for its pristine rooms with scenic river views, though some visitors note the rooms are on the smaller side. The staff's warm and accommodating service frequently receives commendations, enhancing the hotel's eclectic atmosphere that blends a hipster motor lodge aesthetic with Euro-minimalist charm.
Despite its popular riverside location and amenities such as a sauna and pool, some guests feel the pricing is steep for the value provided. Housekeeping services have received mixed reviews from patrons.

I traveled 8 hours in a solo road trip to Stowe Vermont, which I've never been before. I needed a healing few days. I'm so glad I found Talta. The backyard has a river and ample places to sit. They have gas and wood firepits outside. The lobby to the basement lounge are so peaceful to sit. The pool was lovely. I didn't try the sauna but it looked great. They have iced tea and coffee available anytime, and cans and draft beers/cider on tap for purchase during reception hours, as well as munchies. The room was comfortable and airy, and the peg board which lights up gives a great vibe. The bathroom colours are great and the shower pressure is amazing. I chose a room with a patio and it was wonderful, they have chairs on the patio as well. The location could not be not perfect. The staff are all so kind. I had the most dealing with Sarah and she was awesome. I stayed at Talta from Friday August 26, 2022 and I was going to check out on Monday the 29th but booked an extra night and left on the Tuesday. I didn't want to leave. It's a close drive to the main street where you'll find restaurants, cafes, and trails. I can't wait to return for another quiet few days to Stowe, and when I return I won't stay anywhere else. 😊

We stayed 4 nights.
The staff was very helpful. They provided restaurant suggestions. They were also very accommodating with a minor issue regarding a purchase.
The rooms are clean, have a minimalist style. The back rooms have a nice view. The television and thermostat were not straightforward but we figured them out.
It is located in the middle of Stowe town and ski areas. There are hike/bike trails very close by but not directly accessible from the lodge.
The lodge caters to outdoor enthusiasts, with a bicycle barn. There are multiple indoor and outdoor locations to hang out; it looks like they limit alcohol in these spots.
People with accessibility issues may want to look elsewhere. I used plenty of stairs and did not see elevators.

Taita Lodge was everything we needed. Martin was just terrific both advising & counseling. Room was fairly recently modernized. We had 2 large queen beds with view of stream in woods. Hot tub was state of the art new. ( path to walk there was a little muddy) . Dedicated room for boot warming at night was cool. Pool was wonderful. Location was about 2 miles from mountain. Only needed to pay for parking on mountain Friday to Sunday ($30) … There are always shuttles for free… Room had fridge. Bathroom was fairly recently renovated. Was shocked to find that Spruce Mountain looks like a billion $$$ (?) has been invested into infrastructure since my last visit. It looks like Epcot Center. Amazing condos abound. . It is very pleasing. Stowe has come a long way since I used to repeatedly traverse ( bushwack) over the top of Mansfield between Stowe & Madonna ( at the time) in the mid to late 70’s… This is now frowned upon. Just entered thru woods onto ski trails… I had to do the sweep for cousin on ski patrol at the end of day at Madonna ( now Smuggler’s notch). Stowe still has a mesmerizing vibe. In the drive up Waze routed us to the Ferry over Lake Champlain to Burlington. Mansfield’s icy almost cloud like over hang in the sky was post card worthy. Routing saved considerable drive time. If u have the chance… don’t miss this… you will never forget it…

Hey Randy, Martin and the rest of our crew here at our lodge were glad to welcome you and are warmed by this excellent feedback. We pride ourselves on the touches we have in place to help guests make the most of their time with us, from our hot tubs to our updated facilities and beyond. We couldn’t agree more that Stowe has continued to grow in its offerings and we’ve heard time and again how welcome that growth has been from guests familiar with the area, like yourself. Whether it’s for another winter adventure or it’s to enjoy the many treasures we and the area offer when things start to warm up, please join us again just as soon as you can. All the best!

I was beyond surprised when checking in that my husband and I couldn't both fit in the king room, There was no closet, and the lighting was beyond dark. To pay close to $400 a night is beyond a disappointment! The lady at the front was nice and even admitted our room, 115 was pretty much the worst in the hotel, right near lobby and stairs. This room should be used for towels and storage for the hotel not to be sold as a room.
On the plus side, the pool and common area were beautifully done. My friends who stayed down the road at a hotel triple the size paid $200 a night.

This was a mother/daughter getaway. I picked Talta because the price was right, the reviews on Hotel.com were decent, and it was convenient. Also, location, as we were visiting the spa at Top Notch Resort, and the pictures made it look cozy.
Although the gentleman who checked us in was friendly, our room was not what I had imagined. We were on the first floor. The rooms are small, there is no place to sit, no dressers. The lamps beside the bed are really bright with no lamp shades.
Although the beds were comfortable, the noise from the hallway was loud. The doors are extremely heavy, and people let them go, so door slamming in the night and very early in the morning. The worst part was the bright light on the patio. There was no way to turn it off (I went to the front desk, he said he was new and would contact the owners...never happened). The room felt like someone had their high beams directed towards the patio doors. The black out shades have gaps all around, so didn't help. There is also a very strange wall with lights behind it (those you can turn off). There are pegs that you can move around, I assume that is for ski gear? They did have wine glasses and a cork screw :). The room was clean.
In the morning I went downstairs for coffee. I liked the strong coffee, my daughter did not. It's really quite nice downstairs. A comfortable gathering place. The back outside area is next to the river. That also looked like it would be a nice place for people to hang out.
Like I said above, I think that if you are okay with the bare minimum in your room, sleep well under conditions such as noise and light, and want to be close to the mountain (I hear the traffic can be horrible), this might be the place for you.
Next year we will try some place else.

Hey Lisa, We appreciate your feedback! It’s true that our lodge is a perfect place to settle in for those that want to be close to the area’s best snow activities and don’t mind a minimalist take when it comes to decor. Of course, we welcome travelers with all kinds of intentions and expectations. On the whole, we find that our value and friendliness end up winning most guests over. We’re sorry we couldn’t hit the nail on the head during your stay and are particularly disheartened that we weren’t able to better accommodate your concerns around light spilling into your room. We’ll discuss that feedback internally as ensuring guests enjoy the best possible night’s sleep is paramount. It was a pleasure having you and your daughter with us. If ever we have the privilege of welcoming you again, know that we’d relish it. Happy travels!

My wife and I recently had a very nice stay at the Tälta Lodge. We liked its convenient location, clean rooms and bath, comfy bed, and friendly staff, who seem to genuinely want guests to have a great stay. We also enjoyed the hot tub, indoor pool and sauna. There's a boot room on the lower level with a dryer that we very much appreciated. That said, there were some disappointments, principally the lack of daily housekeeping. At no time in the reservation or check in process was I informed that there was no daily housekeeping. After I inquired about it on day 2 of our stay, I was asked if I wanted a "light touch" cleaning". Huh? If I'm paying over $300 a night for a room I expect housekeeping and don't want to ask for it. Even getting the trash emptied was beyond their capacity despite my request. The hotel needs to be forthcoming about this policy and disclose it to avoid guests' disappointments and reviews like this. Clearly they are aware of it since it is frequently mentioned in TA reviews.
There are a couple of room "design" elements that also need management's attention. The pegs that serve as hooks are impractical. Some of our pegs had a tendency to fall out dropping whatever they were holding on the floor. I asked for a lamp shade for the bare light bulb on our table lamp but was told that that was the intended "design". Please. Also the Z-shaped night tables don't have much room for a book or iPad, more poor design. Didn't know what to make of the round light hanging from a rubber cord. Night light? Lastly, the hallway was quite dark and it was impossible to see into the ski lockers that management has thoughtfully provided.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but I wouldn't go back until the above concerns are resolved.

Hello NJ_Thomas, A big thank you to you and your wife for joining us here in Stowe! Your feedback is deeply appreciated including both your celebratory comments highlighting a lot of our amenities and your constructive notes on how you feel we can better serve our guests. We agree on the importance of maintaining transparent communication with those who join us. If this did not happen concerning our cleaning cadences, you have our apologies and word that we’ll be discussing the matter internally. While it’s also clear that our intentionally minimalist aesthetics weren’t in perfect alignment with your tastes, we’re hopeful that the aspects of your stay you loved, including our comfortable beds, friendly team, indoor pool, location and more, ultimately beg your return. We’d love to see you time and again in our community and are standing by if there’s anything we can do to help streamline the making of those plans. Happy New Year to you and yours!

Not clean at all. Bathroom had hair and dust like someone hadn’t even tried to wipe down the floor and around the toilet. Floor in room could have been vacuumed and washed much better. Food crumbs inside of both bed frames. The porch door was broken and almost fell off when we tried to close it. Awful sound proofing between rooms.
Would not recommend.
Only positive is location. But that is all.

I was excited to stay here after hearing it was owned by Field Guide (which I love). Sadly I have been extremely disappointed with my stay. The rooms are very cheaply furnished with no windows, synthetic sheets and low quality finishings. The price was exorbitant given the lack of service, no breakfast and sparse room. We were in one of the only rooms that didn’t have a porch, and our keys were deactivated on New Years even, so when we came back to our room after dinner we couldn’t get in (no one mans the front desk). This place would be fine if the price was comparable to what you get, but for luxury pricing it’s a real disappointment

It’s also awesome to know that you’re well-acquainted with Field Guide Lodge, another Lark property. Our property offers a variety of rooms, many of which feature different traits including windows, views, etc. We invite you to explore our other room types ahead of your next visit as we’re sure we have accommodations that you’d love. A friend and I spent 3 nights here Friday through Sunday.
Room was small and tight. bathroom was small but functional with good shower head and hot water.
Instant coffee in room, fresh coffee in the lobby. That was good.
Tea pot for instant coffee not located near an outlet - had to move to heat.
No breakfast offered.
No housekeeping done while we were in the room. We asked for clean towels. They were provided. The staff were all very friendly.
Noisy bathroom fan cannot be turned off and runs continuously.
Very nice view out back to a river, we had a second floor room. Nice indoor pool. Nice large lounge room on ground level with lots of seating.
We paid $512/night for Fri & Sat nights each.
We felt this place was a VERY low value for the amount we paid.
If we had paid $150/night, the place and the experience would have been absolutely fine.
But we paid more than 3x that for two nights of our 3 nights stay. It was a busy time in town for the Fall foliage viewing. Still, we thought $512/night (Fri, Sat) for what was offered to us was Absolutely not worth it.
This review is about the property and what it cost us to stay there for 3 nights and the value we felt we received (very low). It is not about the staff. They dont define the value level. The company does.

We came to explore the area on a family trip and found this to be a wonderful location in Stowe Vermont. The Tälta Lodge by Blue Bird is located right next to a beautiful and pristine river. There are Adirondack chairs located along its banks for relaxing and soaking it all in and also had a balcony deck with chairs overlooking the river. Beautiful garden areas to relax and enjoy along with trails to hike. Also have multiple games of Cornhole to enjoy. The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable of the area and very accommodating.
