I stayed a night in Cougar Cave, one of the motel rooms. It can sleep four in a double (queen?) and a double trundle bed. The room was huge! Very clean with a hot plate/fridge/microwave sort of kitchenette. I was chilly ~ I forget how chilly even an August night can be in VT. Pack your jammies. The innkeeper was responsive and helpful. She gave me a later checkout when my companion had car troubles and couldn’t arrive in time. Then she recommended a nearby mechanic. Very helpful at a stressful time.
Under new management, the Pinecrest has seen a boon in quality and adequacy that was a surprise. Having had stayed with family at the Pinecrest in decades past, it now features a routinely cleaned pool, well-maintained cabins, seamless check-in, air-con, and even...yes...WiFi. Under new management, clientele has changed a bit - a bit more family oriented providing for small bonfires and a lovely stream to wade or even cast the odd fish line. Far cleaner, in the heart of the NEK for a blockbuster price makes for an excellent cost-to-value proposition for any would be traveler, local returning home or otherwise. It was a pleasant surprise and I'll be happy to recommend this for folks looking to visit the area. Comparatively, this is one of the best options around!!!
I really liked it here! Cabin was renovated, clean and very well maintained. A great location if you want to go off hiking, biking, etc. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and were very responsive w/ text messages. Will definitely be coming back!
We recently stayed in one of the two-bedroom cabins and it was great. I wish we stayed longer. My biggest concern in roadside cabins and motels is the cleanliness, and I can say that our cabin was clean. The bathroom is a bit small but served it's purpose. They have a swimming pool which was great for a summer dip. The river nearby looks clean.
My husband, dog and I came to stay for the weekend. We stayed in a cabin and it was very comfortable and cozy! The property was set back from the road and right on a beautiful river. There were fire pits, horse shoes, and tether ball. I would have loved to swim at the pool but the weather wasn’t quite warm enough for me! The owners took care of the property well and I appreciated the landscaping and flowers. It was a short drive to Lake Willoughby and all the surrounding natural areas. Great stay- I will definitely be back! Thank you for a great weekend!
We booked on Hotels.com, but Pine Crest refused to confirm our reservation, after over a half dozen unanswered phone calls and left messages (as instructed to do by Hotels.com). Not knowing whether or not we were going to have a room for the night, I had to cancel our reservation and book with a different hotel. The next day they still charged us for the the room, which I currently have filed a dispute against via our credit card bank.
We stayed here in the motel part for a trip to Jay Peak Mountain and it was in a great location. Not too far from the Mountain. About 30 minutes, but anywhere closer is a lot more expensive. Only issue we had was somebody smoked in the bathroom at a past visit and the smell was lingering a little bit. Other than that it was cozy and management was awesome.
We stayed in the two-bedroom (one full bed each) Grouse house for area skiing. It’s basic but all there - beds, a hot shower, warmth, quiet, running water/toilet. The place could use a little more love but for our purposes it was fine. We eat dinner at the Carriage house - fresh food, good service, healthy options too. Go early as it gets busy. The Mayfields in Orleans was a good low-cost pit stop for breakfast and Green Mountain coffee.
Enjoyed our stay at our cabin in Vermont - we stayed in Porcupine Palace and it was perfect and exactly what we needed. It was in a beautiful location. The river right outside the cabin was a beautiful view for our morning coffee. The cabin was clean upon our arrival, and it was a great spot to crash after a long day of exploring. Very warm, welcoming, and super "Vermont". My boyfriend and I are already talking about planning another trip up to Vermont and we would absolutely stay in one of your cabins again. The price was right and the location was perfect for exactly what we were looking for. Thank you for such a great place to stay while we explored New England!
I'm a french canadian and came last weekend (26-28 july) with my friends. It's my second time at Pine Crest and I really love the beautiful retreat place. Each summer we are doing a summer weekend edition. However, this time I've been bite by bedbugs and thought you would like to know to prevent as infestation can grow fast. I was in the Peacock motel room. I slept in the bed side of the bathroom wall. The bites are all over my face on the left, typically in an amount and row under my chin and on my arms and chest. Since yesterday I've prevented the others around me and dried high temp all my stuff and sprayed to be sure I won't have some here. I know bedbugs are not dangerous as tick but they are a nightmare for extermination. And as my skin is very sensitive and react my doctor will prescribe me some cream. And it's on my side face so it's very annoying... I think you should call a professional to spray the rooms. I don't think the problem is in the little cabins. I hope you can fix the problem soon to preserve quality!…
