Our 4th visit to this wonderful place. I don't think people who haven't been to the BIg Bend understand just how out there it is, and just how hard it is to get a good place to stay. Ten Bits is clean, the views are just amazing, and the hosts are great people. You have to drive to the park,... More

We (2 couples) stayed here in April while touring Big Bend and Terlingua Ghost Town area. Driving down the dirt road, we thought we were lost but we came upon this neat ranch that looks like a small western town. The owners prepared our hot breakfast both mornings which was delicious. We met 2 women from New Zealand in another... More

We rented the entire property to celebrate my mother in laws 80th birthday. When we rented there was no dinner and breakfast option and we had use of the kitchen facility. I believe this has changed--but it doesn't change what a great place this is to stay. The location is definitely secluded but that was part of the charm. The... More

We absolutely can't say enough good things about being there! Yes, it's a bit farther from the Big Bend National Park and that's the appeal. Built to look like a frontier town, it's a photographer's delight, miles of desert to roam from your front door, gorgeous views, comfortably sized rooms, front porches to enjoy and a feeling that the desert... This unique ranch has 6-7 cabins built into an 1850s like old town atmosphere. The setting is at the base of a mountain and is absolutely georgeous. The water is trucked in and stored, the electricity is solar powered, and heat is propane fireplaces, no TVs. The hosts are very friendly and they serve a delicious breakfast daily. The area... We stayed for 3 nights in September. Pros: Very, very clean and comfortable lodging; very friendly hostess; easy to access; breakfast each morning; hosts built a lovely outdoor fire one night; INCREDIBLE view. Cons: Morning coffee was instant only; walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors' every word, music playing, etc.

Well, thank you for the kind review. Let me mention that your coffee was not instant. I'm guessing you said that because there were some grounds in the bottom of your cup. In fact, given that we are off the grid (and try to save electricity) we ALWAYS brew our coffee the old fashioned way (over the propane stove in... More

This is an absolutely fantastic piece of property in an excellent and convenient location to Big Bend National Park. My son and I came here in February of 2015 and arrived late in the evening. The location is remote and we closely followed the directions provided by the owner - don't bother with GPS here. We made it through the... More

Ten Bits Ranch is certainly "off the beaten path", being 2 miles off the paved highway via a gravel/dirt road, but that only adds to its attractiveness. Rooms a well appointed and being in "The Old Schoolhouse" room we had a west facing sitting porch to admire the desert mountain sunsets. Breakfast was delicious. TBR is very remote and not... More

We were totally surprised by this place. It was very cool and we loved the rugged terrain, with huge rock formations all around. This grouping of cabins was well away from the touristy areas, and incredibly quiet all day (off the grid, so, no tvs, etc), It was absolutely beautiful under the full moon. We have never stayed anywhere that... More
