A wonderful honeymoon retreat. Kay greeted us, welcomed us to the house and even gave us a brief tour and some history. She loves this house and the community and shares it. Also recalling tales of past guests, which serves the quaintness of this wonderful bed and breakfast. Coffee and cookies were ready for us at any time, so was...

Kay Kelly the Inkeeper at the Rose Mansion couldn't be more accommodating!! She makes sure you are comfortable and secure. She baked cookies upon our arrival and had tea and coffee ready for consumption. The house is well maintained and clean. In addition to the well appointed rooms inside the house, visitors can also stay at the many rental properties...

Loved the setting of this historic bed & breakfast. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. She knew the history so it was a bonus to get to find out the history behind this historical place. Even though these buildings were from the 1800's all the modern conveniences were there. Keeping to the original building and era made the place...

Kay, the longtime manager for the B&B, is absolutely fabulous. The breakfasts that she made were simply wonderful and her hospitality and courtesy is top-notch. I stayed in Beatrice's Room and it was a charming and comfortable room. There were a number of fabulous options at the Rose Mansion, though, that can accommodate additional family members. Everything was clean and...

We went overnight for a shopping getaway and stayed in one of the cabins. It was perfectly adequate with period furnishings and a comfortable bed. The grounds are quiet and peaceful and the owner was very gracious. The breakfast was substantial and very tasty. All in all a pleasant stay and I would recommend the Rose Mansion.

My daughter and I stayed in "Callie's Room". This was her first and my second stay at the Rose Mansion. They offer lovely, clean accommodations in historic buildings. The inn keeper was so friendly and made us feel truly welcome. And breakfast was SO GOOD! The breakfast here was the best part of our trip to Salado! Thanks again Rose...

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend getaway in the Sharecroppers Cottage. It is 100 year old cottage sitting behind the main house at Rose Mansion. Lots of history on the property which is super neat. Miss Kay was a wonderful hostess. Super friendly, welcoming, a wonderful cook and keeps everything really clean. I didn't see one bug the...

I'm quite the history buff, so when traveling to visit my son and his family at Fort Hood, I thought I would look for a bed and breakfast with character. I found it! We stayed in a log cabin that had been built in 1855. It was one room, but had a loft with stairs and a bathroom. It was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled among towering oaks, elms and persimmon trees, this traditional Greek Revival style mansion, complimentary cottages and log cabins are located on two acres of landscaped grounds surrounded by a picturesque picket fence. The grounds offer a mini tour of early Texas dwellings. Texas markers and one National Register marker attest to the authenticity of the Rose Mansion, two beautifully restored log cabins, a summer kitchen cottage and a larger Greek Revival cottage. The main home, built in 1870 by Major A.J. Rose, has four bedrooms (three have fireplaces), a grand parlour, an elegant dining room and a cozy country kitchen. The mansion is complimented with Rose family memorabilia and authentic antiques. A windmill with a cypress storage tank, a rock smoke house and an old wagon are nostalgic reminders of the past. Shaded seating areas, swings and hammocks located across the grounds compliment these accommodations. No wonder the Mansion was featured in the June 1996, February and November 1999 issues of Southern Living Magazine! ... more   less
