I have passed the Rey Carlos many times, as I visit GC regularly, and have stayed in many hotels, but the gothic style of this one always intrigued me. Where other hotels have kept themselves fresh, and welcoming, Rey Carlos was completely the opposite. The hotel is dark, unwelcoming, noisey and extremely outdated. Badly maintained with unhappy staff. The furnishings...

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week on Gran Canaria at this hotel in March 2016 staying on a half board basis. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very enjoyable and plentiful but come the evening meal the food was again excellent but if you wanted a drink, even water you had to pay...

I thought the rey carlos was ok; yes its a bit dated-but i didnt come on holiday to admire the hotel decor. You get what you pay for.... the hotel was spotlessley clean though. The room was bigger than i thought; bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. I used the kitchen even though i was staying 1/2 board. The fridge was...

We were very surprised over the polite staff, and the 100% clean rooms. The apartment are larger than everage. Large balcony , but a too small kitchen , witch make it impossible to open the fridge door 90 degrees. Too hard beds for us, but that is the same all over Gran Canaria. We recommend this hotel ! Also the...

With its somewhat grand entrance hall comes a feeling of solidity and permanence which reassures. The decor is a tilt at history, but probably a different era depending on whether you are looking at a wooden, armoured statue or an 'old master' on the walls. It probably does not bear too much scrutiny but why would you worry about that-...

Having read so many reviews I didn't have and shocks but a few surprises. Yes this Hotel has character but perhaps it should be seen as of the Spanish colonial style rather than a modern bland branded Hotel. The foyer is set out more as an entrance to a house than a hotel. The rooms are a bit tired décor...

I'm rarely straight out harsh in my reviews, but this place had better get its act together. Great location. Nice pool; and the people who staff the pool bar are entertainment and hospitality champions. Totally first class, especially the funny blonde lady. Rooms are well and regularly cleaned. All good if that's it . That, which may be all you...

The hotel is really very dated (trapped in it's own time zone), almost old fashioned. All areas including the bedrooms/apartments are spotlessly clean New towels are given every day. Room floors are cleaned every day, but that is it, all other cleaning is done by the occupants (dishes etc) The food is very simple with virtually no imagination and quite...

If you are a fan on Abigail's party and have a hankering for more of that, this is the place for you. I honestly can't believe how dated and kitsch this place is. Firstly let me say the accommodation is spacious and well located. When my partner and I walked into our room, we burst out laughing and so far...
