A poor first impression started with the car park, where the only vacant space was partly occupied by the debris of large turned- out pot plants( the car park costs € 3.50 daily). My allocated room was not in the cheerful villa with garden ,as shown on the booking website, but in a building squeezed behind, overshadowed by a steep excavated slope and massive trees. My " superior double" room had a useful balcony ,which allowed a sideways view of the lake; most rooms in the annexe will have a very shaded outlook. The location seemed heavily populated by midges, and I was surprised by the lack of window screening. The windows were also very deficient in curtains- too narrow and not at all opaque. The room size was large,if not excessive, with plenty of furniture, a fridge and a small safe. There was a basic standard bathroom with no bath.I repeatedly struck my head on the towel storage rack when using the WC. There were two comfortable single beds placed adjacently (not a double),with the usual two single duvets, wildly inappropriate to the climate. As a partly attic room,it was too hot on a warm day after weeks of hot conditions. It was dreadful during the night. Several attempts were required to obtain a fan.I was initially told none existed, and then that one would appear in ten minutes. After half an hour,I found a different person on duty at the desk, which is badly located in a cramped narrow space. He again denied that electric fans existed, but ,after remonstrance, made a phone call.A fan appeared eventually.Despite this shortage of a basic, late 19 th century, device, there are sophisticated electric door openers. Breakfast is in the main building, which seems a much more cheerful place -the breakfast room had a fine lake view. The tea was excellent, the bread was fresh, and there were no little plastic tubs of imitation jam.The cooked eggs and sausages were hot. Perhaps the view and elaborate gardens ,especially if staying in the main house, would be highly valued by other people.I felt that the hotel compared badly with the Waren hotel I used last year, especially after my uncomfortable experience of the reception staff.

In fact, one should not expect to find such a lovely gem at such a modest price. Luckily for us it happened. Our stay was excellent all round: welcoming room facing the lake and the garden, comfortable bed, entirely fresh and clean bathroom, superb breakfast, perfect WiFi, friendly and helpful staff - enough to explain why we like it? But the most remarkable feature is yet to come: the vicinity. Тhe hotel enjoys a prime location, and its proprietors made a huge effort to fimprove the surroundings. The result is the magnificent, extensive garden where you can walk along the lake shore, sit in the arbor or enjoy drinks on the deck overlooking the old town. You can visit their greenhouse with countless cacti or even join the locals to swim in the lake! The only thing we regret is the shortness of our stay, so we intend to return back as soon as possible.

While it is positioned just out of the main centre, it is a very nice hotel and some of our party enjoyed rooms in the annex that were huge. The standard room are a good size and had good views of the water and the gardens. A lift is available and free wifi in the rooms. Breakfast had a good selection of all food types.

We reserved this hotel for a one night stay, we needed to be in Recline, which was further then we thought, especially as they have ridiculous speed limits around there, with at every little village they have speed controls, which makes it a less nice place to visit.! Any way we did not find anything we liked closer. It is a very nice hotel in a very nice garden., right on the lake. There are two buildings, we were in the non main building. Unfortunately we did not get a room with view on the lake, though we booked an upgraded room, although we think we got a standard room as it was not very big and quite simple, but OK. The hotel is on the lake and we were looking forward to an evening meal on the terrace, right on the lake, but upon checking in, we were told that they had a private party, so the restaurant was closed, but they said we could “ walk into town, as there are many restaurants.” We would have appreciated that they informed us at reservation, that the restaurant was closed. It was a Monday, so many restaurants in town were closed… though we expected the tourist season to have started. The breakfast is good and staff, which seem to be disables people, for part of it, is very friendly, besides the reception that is. If we would be in the region again, we would go here again. It is 10 min walk into town, and very quiet place.

We arrived for a four night stay in late October. As we were arriving late, arrangements were made for us to pick up our key when reception had closed. We found our room warm, comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was a well stocked, varied buffet, frequently replenished. All staff were welcoming and friendly. We decided to have coffee and cake one afternoon and had dinner the following evening. All the food was freshly cooked, tasty and well presented. The hotel has show gardens in its grounds and is situated very close to the lake and just a few minutes walk from the centre of Waren, an attractive little town with several nice restaurants. Just one note of caution: arriving in the dark made getting to the hotel very difficult, even when we could see it! Make sure you have checked your map carefully or have your sat-nav. We intend to return next summer.

This is an incredible hotel, with incredible views. It is about 2 km from downtown Waren. The service was excellent in English. The breakfast was superb, and on the deck overlooking the gardens. Make sure to go for a walk around the on-site gardens and along the lake. A little hard to find, but all the best places are. I would come back here for an extended stay.

This hotel is run/staffed by people with disabilities as well as others. The rooms were great, and the service impeccable. Breakfast ranked right up there, and the location is lovely.
