Not alot of choice in accommodation in Les Chapieux. If booking your accommodation independently for the TMB, I would start by organising your bookings in this little village first. Accommodation books out quickly here. The night we stayed the Refuge was booked out and some poor trekkers were caught out who hadn't reserved a bed. Our triple room consisted of...

This is the first refuge we stayed on while hiking the TMB during September 2016. It had it's pros and cons, which I will describe, but as I am writing this after I got home I would say it's not significantly better or worse than other refuges we stayed in. For us the more positive parts of the experience were:...

this was booked for us as part of a TMB. We were prepared for shared facilities but not for the fact that there was one shower and one toilet for the whole landing including dorm rooms. The food was totally inadequate and barely warm.Soup which tasted as it the pot had been made for 20 then stretched to feed 40,...

This is pretty much you standard refuge on the TMB. No frills, multiple people in the room, and no flexibility by the owners for any special requests (food, etc.). There are only 2 toilets in the house, so expect a queue in the morning. Our room did have a shower, though. There is a tiny shop nearby, for bread and...

We stopped here for a drink after hiking TMB and we also inquired about transport to Refuge Motetts (sp?). Waitress was short and dismissive. Worst service in some time. Thankfully, we were not staying here but rather had room reservations and dinner at the lovely Les Chambres du Soleil .

My husband, adult son and I stayed in one of the rooms at the Auberge on our recent TMB trek. While there was no toilet in the room, it did have a small bathroom with sink and shower with ample hot water. We had a few beers at the outside terrace bar and were served by one of the friendly...

This wasn't one of my favourite places on the TMB, mainly because there was nowhere to put my things in the dormitory. The number of storage spaces behind the door matched the number of beds but nevertheless they were all full, as were all other nooks and crannies. Also, I had to crawl through a wooden shelving unit to get...

Hiking down from the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme we found this refuge filled with hikers on the same itinerary. They have a pleasant outdoor garden and serve a number of different cold beers which were quite welcome while we rested our weary feet. This small refuge has both dorm and private rooms. We had two private rooms which...

Some of the reviews are a bit harsh. This is a refuge, not a hotel. Yes you sleep in a dorm room with others. Yes you share showers and toilets. And yes, meals are communal. This is how it is done in a refuge. That said, having stayed in many of the refugi on the TMB this is one of...

I don't know that I can really add much to the reviews that are already here. We stayed here for one night during the TMB, and had two bunks in a room of 8 people. I was actually really pleasantly surprised by the experience though. Throughout, the staff at the auberge was really friendly and professional, everything was clean and...
