Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa comes highly recommended for its warm service and spotless environment. The friendly staff and excellent customer care have earned praise from the majority of guests, while the well-kept grounds and pools reflect the resort's commitment to cleanliness. While some guests noted room quality inconsistencies, the all-inclusive option, private beach access, and cave experiences are popular perks. Set in a prime location ideal for exploration, and with a serene and inviting atmosphere, many travelers consider the all-inclusive package a value, despite minor concerns.

I think I would have rated this 3.5 stars if I could and I will say why here shortly. I believe that location is key and depending on what you are looking for, I consider this place a bit too isolated. With that said, there is a restaurant at the resort and actually two during the peak season but there is only really one other option within walking distance. There is no shopping within walking distance and the resort store is quite small. Now if you are fine with that and just want to disconnect, this may the right place. I will add though that the walls are thin but the rooms pretty comfortable yet aged a bit. The on site restaurant has some amazing food but the resort prices to go with it. The staff, especially the restaurant staff is excellent and very engaging. WIth all of that said, there are bus stops at the end of the resort drive (50 yards or so) and taxis that are available. A taxi ride to Hamilton is about a $35 charge each way if not a bit more and takes up to 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. The bus is definitely cheaper but obviously takes longer and can get crowded. I have been to the Grotto twice in 6 months for business and I prefer it for convenience as much of my work is tied to the airport (a mile away) so I feel my observations are pretty accurate. If you want flexibility or want to be in the middle of the action, this is probably not the choice BUT if you want to be unplugged with the option to explore occasionally, this may answer the mail. Oh, from what I saw, the Grotto is definitely kid friendly.

The location can't be beat as it's just across the bridge from the airport (although you can't hear the planes landing/taking off) and there's a bus stop right in front of the resort. The front desk staff was always friendly and accommodating and the room was immaculate. The view was delightful. The one thing I should warn folks about is if you have trouble walking up/down steep terrain, this place is NOT for you. It was quite a hike from our room to the building containing the lobby. We really enjoyed the cave on premises to the point that we didn't make it to the others nearby (also, it's free at the resort and not nearby). We got to-go food one night from the only onsite restaurant open and while it was tasty, it was very expensive. We ate and drank at Swizzle (a block away) all the other times, and I'll review that place separately. If we were ever to return to Bermuda, we would definitely stay here.

It's difficult to be brief in praise of this hotel. 5 minutes from the airport yet no noise from the three take offs per day. Luggage delivered and collected from the room. the room had excellent blackout curtains. Very good size comfortable bed. Very clean room and an ensuite that you could turn round in. We were on 8pm BA flight out and kept the room until 5pm instead of 11am at no extra fee. The pool and hot tub were heated fine. There are house cats that are very freindly and like to sit with you at the pool which was amusing. The odd cockeral crowing in the morning was not a problem.
The food was excellent and plentiful from the buffet breakfast and lunch. (Amusing to watch yanks piling everything on at once, eggs bacon maple syrup toast waffles sausage etc all on the same plate!) Dinner was more formal and an excellent choice of menu to keep anybody happy, and a buffet one night a week. We were all inclusive which I would strongly recommend as not only is it very good value but it makes life simple. A free bus pass is included which, as we stayed in January and the weather was not as warm as usual, we found very useful. The buses are fast and regular from the hotel and you just ask the driver to tell you where you want to get off and they remember! Hamilton is 30 minutes away and the free fast ferry takes you to the end of the island at Dockyard. Loads of interesting stuff to visit.
Finally I would like to thank all the excellent staff for being so friendly and helpful. The Bermudans are deservedly noted for it. HRG.

My friend and I visited Bermuda last year in early May. We loved it. The BA flight was excellent and the airport just a few moments away by car (yet no airport noise at all) from the excellen t Grotto Bay Beach Hotel. We were all inclusive and all the food and wines were excellent. We could have eaten all day had we wanted! Bus and ferry tickets were included in the price to enable us to travel all over the island.

We can’t wait to go back. Also, everyone was friendly and helpful. The weather was glorious. If we had been eating and drinking outside the hotel, however, I’m sure our costs would have been much higher! The pools were great and the sea bathing lovely.

What can I say, just returned from a 10 night stay & so sad that we had to leave! The hotel is in a stunning location, beautiful beach/bay, most rooms have incredible sea views. Food is top class the chefs do fabulous work. We went All Inclusive and I would definitely advice to do this, well worth the extra as the prices if on room only are not cheap! Our room was a standard superior ocean view in 'Warwick' building & I have to say the views from there were just glorious. Our friends stayed in the beachfront deluxe rooms which also are lovely, but do carry a supplement. One of the most breathtaking features of the hotel are the caves! The spa is here, and I can honestly say I've never had such an incredible spa experience being in the caves truly magical. The staff are excellent so friendly, I wish I had all their names to mention but in particular waiters Lesley & Cosmin were so much fun and bar tenders Dwain at main bar (very dry sense of humour) & Victor at the pool bar were so nice. A special mention to Veronica & Raymond who both organised a superb packed lunch for our group of 8 to take on our boat trip, Veronica even borrowed her friends cool box on wheels for us to take! Also, the reception manager was really helpful sorting out best rooms he could for us all to. The island itself is so lovely, I don't think I've ever seen such blue sea and the beaches are rated as some of the top in the World. There is also plenty to see & do, the Islands are full of history inc their Naval Dockyard. If you like golf then you will be in your element! We also did a highly unusual excursion that I'd not heard of before - helmet diving. We went out on a boat to one of the reefs and you literally are taken 12-15' down wearing a very cleverly designed helmet that allows you to breathe normally and enjoy the sights of the many colourful fish and coral, very well worth doing at around ÂŁ85 each. Transport is very easy to get around, and when you are all inclusive at Grotto you automatically get a free bus & ferry pass for your duration which is great added value. Overall I think everyone needs to go to Bermuda at least once in their lives, you really would not be dissapointed, for info best time to go is anytime between Apr-Nov, humidity was quite high in Aug but did not spoil it! Flights are direct with BA from LHR & take under 7 hours.

Stayed 8 nights here, our first time in Bermuda. Firstly, location was excellent. Close to the airport but not a noise annoyance. On great bus routes with stops outside for getting around the island- the all inclusive deal included a ferry/bus pass which was just great. Hotel is also walking distance to the railway trail to Hamilton and the Crystal Caves. One pub nearby if you want a change of scene. The hotel itself is set on a very pretty hillside with views of the turquoise bay and island. It has a beach on site and is very pleasant just to sit in the lovely gardens with chickens and cats pottering about.
Our room was great with an amazing view of the bay. Cleaned daily, comfortable seating area and good shower. Powerful WiFi.
We had the all inclusive deal - probably ate and drank more than we should but that is because the food was DELICIOUS and varied at every meal. Staff were just lovely and Paul the egg chef was superb as was Veronica who saw to our every need. Also very friendly night manager David. Staff had time to chat.
On our last day, because it was the low season, we could stay in our room (til 6) until our evening flight, free of charge. That was a real bonus.
Played tennis and used the gym as well as the beautiful Cathedral Caves for a dip if you wanted. Some entertainment at night- DJ and guitarist.
Overall, we would recommend this hotel and we are already planning our next visit.

We spent a week at Grotto Bay just as they reopened post-COVID.

We reserved an ocean front room and were glad we did. It’s a bit of a hike up to the big house, but only a short stroll down to the pool & beach. This resort is not a good choice for those with mobility issues.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms were updated in 2018.
Housekeeping only came when we put the sign out, but I suspect this is because of the virus. When they did service the room, they left plenty of towels, coffee, etc.

We opted for the All Inclusive option and would choose to do the same again given the costs of drinks & food in Bermuda.

We enjoyed every meal we had during our stay. The beach bar food was a good quality and the 3 course dinners were thoughtful and interesting. The portions are large so it’s very easy to share the sandwiches. The fresh breads, buns and pastries were faultless.

Exploring and swimming in the cave was a unique fun experience. Don’t skip a treatment in the spa down in the grotto.

Finally, this reviewer would be remiss if we failed to pass along our heartfelt gratitude for the staff working in this challenging COVID environment. Every team member (Lencia, Lensley, Danny, Veronica, Raymond, Dwayne, Victor, Kionne, Winston and Paul) and many others were so happy to be back at work and always went above & beyond to make our stay special.

Our stay at Grotto Bay was a great value at a classic resort and we would definitely stay again if returning to Bermuda.

This hotel is outstanding the staff are so friendly and polite, the beds are very comfortable and rooms immaculate. We are staying in room 462 on the 2nd floor. Whilst there is no lift, that doesn’t bother us as it helps to burn off the calories from the 1st class food, talking of which we normally avoid buffets and going all inclusive, but given the price of eating out in Bermuda we decided to give it a try. There are some buffets (which are excellent) but you always have the choice from the extensive Ala Carte menu for no extra charge, the soups and salads delicious. The hotel is near the airport and so far we have not heard anything. The local bus service which will get you almost anywhere on the island (via Hamilton) is just outside, with tickets that include the various ferries. After reading various reviews we were a little apprehensive but greatly surprised, you will see I have written very few reviews but on this occasion feel compelled to as it so good. If you are ultra picky then I’m sure you will find something to moan about but for me, keep up the excellent work Grotto Bay!

We were at Grotto Bay from September 28-October 3. It was just as great as our trip there last year, in spite of all the Covid restrictions... in some ways even better! The staff did a fantastic job of handling everything in a very kind way. We had trouble getting our email to work the first morning there(Problems with our iPad, the resort wifi was excellent) and the young man at the front desk was so helpful and patient with me.
In fact, the whole staff couldn't have been nicer. Everyone was very efficient and pleasant.
We had scheduled a trip for last April which we had to cancel due to the virus, so I need to especially thank Debra Burrows in reservations for all of her help. She really worked hard on getting us back on track to be able to go in September, always reassuring me that everything would work out and she made sure that it did. She really saved the day!
The location is great. Just a quick cab ride from the airport and close to many places that we've always enjoyed in Bermuda. We love Clearwater Beach and Coopers Island Nature Reserve, as well as Tobacco Bay, and they're very close to Grotto Bay.
On our last visit we got the all inclusive plan and regretted not getting it this year. The food at Grotto Bay is fantastic, and the plan is well worth the money.
This is probably the best resort on the island for children. The rooms are spacious and kids would have a great time at the beach and at the beautiful pool.
On our last night there, we did have a problem briefly with noise from a party going on next door. My husband spoke to the night manager who solved the problem in about 5 minutes. Small things can go wrong at any resort, and I'm quite sure that this kind of thing very seldom happens at Grotto Bay, but how these things are handled is what matters. The manager at Grotto Bay gets an A++++!! (Sorry, but I'm a teacher so I have to give grades!)
I do have to mention our taxi driver, now our friend, Calvin Bridgewater, 441-504-0749. He is wonderful. He was always there on time, actually early, keeps his cab extremely clean, and is very knowledgeable about Bermuda. He can answer any question you have and provide excellent advice. In addition to cab rides, he does tours.
We certainly hope to return to Grotto Bay again soon.

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon at Grotto Bay. We booked it through Michael McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services, who was great to work with especially during COVID. Our stay was absolutely amazing. We paid for the all-inclusive package and it was 100% worth the money. The food was delicious at the resort, the beach was beautiful, and the non-motorized water sports were an added bonus! We rented a bike from Oleanders (right down the street) and we were able to explore many parts of the island in just one day. We will definitely stay here again if we come back!

I wouldn't know, sorry but MY guess would be no you'd both have to be on the all inclusive. I don't eat much and drink little but was still worth it. It also includes bus passes which were great!

Yes, absolutely you will be able to rent a small car and I believe you can inquire at the front desk. We saw many people at Grotto Bay have them. Note that they are very very small but you can get around with this nicely. I believe that you will need to sit one in front and one in the back. Limited packages fit in this vehicle. It's quick transportation. I thought that they were cute to travel in. Note that Bermuda roads travel on the left side and they are narrow. Making some turns can be challenging if you are not used to the roads. Have fun driving the mini cars!
