Run by Carl and Gail who know Africa inside out. They were extremely helpfull and worked hard to make our stay perfect. The food was excellent and the staff always smiling and attentive. The new bar in the grounds is perfect for birding while sinking a cool beer. Lots to do including our favourite the chameleon walk around the grounds...

Stayed here for two days. Beautiful place and great people. A gem. And more ecological based than many, many 'eco'-lodges). Chameleons, reptiles, tree frogs and bats hunting above the river: made my days (uh nights 😉). Stayed in house. Water and light available in house. Good food. Nice day tracks in surroundings and good management (knowlegeable and friendly to local...

After coming to Tanzania for many years I can only ask myself why did I not go here before. It is great to be able to walk the nummerous trials in the forest and surroundings without the noise, heat and dust that is common in other parts of the country. Amani forest reserve truly shows the diversity of Tanzania's ecology....

From the most amazing hosts Carl and Gail to the fab chameleons and frogs it was a slice of heaven! A secret beautiful hideaway too...

Once the bumpy entrance road had been negotiated, the rest was great. The forest location is peaceful and full of bird life. There are interesting walks around the grounds. Our hosts, Gail and Carl were extremely attentive and the food was wonderful! My wife has a number of dietary problems and they handled these with care and attentiveness. As a...

As birders we had a wonderful time (5 nights) and Carl's food was delicious for both meat eaters like myself and vegetarians with special dietary needs. Well done on the catering front! Gail was extremely helpful but the staff need training and encouragement. The informal atmosphere is relaxing and the dining/bar area enjoyable BUT the whole site and the facilities...

Carl & Gail were extremely nice and kind to us. The camp is just on top this high hill just on top of a beautiful river in this special rain forest. Many hikes around. The camp is very well managed with a welcoming environment. We camped there with our own tant (7$ a day per person) and we had a...

Yes the roads are dreadful and it rained a lot, but the relaxed nature of the place, plus the forest walks, birdlife and good food made for a very enjoyable stay. Thanks to Gail and Carl for making our stay so enjoyable and I look forward to returning to see how they upgrade all of the facilities (without taking away...

Thank you to Carl and Gail, the managers at Amani Forest Camp. Doing a wonderful job in a place that is isolated and off the beaten track. Great place for hiking in the forests. Saw an abundance of African violets in their natural surroundings. Went on a night walk and got to see the pygmy and three horn chameleons. Cliff...

“Currently there is only one extensive room but there is a variety of perfectly acceptable tents Washing facilities are constrained by the location, but hot bathing water is always available if you ask. The largely vegetarian food is simply outstanding. Delicious. All credit to Pia for implementing that one. And of course the bird-watching is fantastic with numerous sought-after endemic species literally on the doorstep.”
