I liked the courtyard area of the hotel and the room seemed clean and was reasonably comfortable if all you used it for was sleeping. As others have said there is no coffee, water or any of the typical amenities you expect with a room. However the toiletries are great and made the room smell like lavender which was nice....

I should qualify that I DO like minimalist motels. However, this property has taken it to an uncomfortable extreme. For 400$ for a two night weekend stay you will NOT get; a front desk clerk that will check you in and tell you about the property or even tell you that your room is across the highway, you will not...

We thought it would be Marfa funky instead blah. Check in at the bar across the street. Second bed a couch, though there was one sheet and one blanket. Plain blond industrial furniture which was ok. No coffee machine or tissues. No tv but did not expect. The lavender amenities were nice. We were trying to avoid a standard hotel...

This is an old motor-court hotel renovated with a new courtyard where the park lot was. There are not many hotel choices in Marfa proper so there is a bit of a captive market going on here. I can say for sure that the service staff that service the rooms are very warm and friendly. That was our only interaction...

This hotel is the Marfa art/culture scene in a nutshell. Minimalist, the small rooms are sparse, with beds close to the floor, some minimal furniture and industrial feeling bathrooms. The courtyard is nice and relaxing. Checking in can be a bit tricky, since there is no office for the hotel. You actually check in at the restaurant across the street,...

We arrived very late and had a little confusion checking in at the Capri bar on the other side of the road, but it was pretty simple once figured out. The room was clean and sparse as others have mentioned. In January, it was dead..... crickets.... I mean Norman Bates was about to come offer us a sandwich any minute,...

the hotel has no front desk so it's hard to get help with small, normal requests. we needed more blankets because the rooms were cold; the bathroom area could really use a small floor rug as the cement floors are cold; boxes of tissues would have been handy; the lights outside the room never worked so finding the keyhole in...

Really fun and confortable hotel to stay in Marfa. Lots of space and closets, cozy they have everything you need. Bar and restaurant across the road, really friendly staff you can rent bikes. We scanned all the hotels around and if you are a cool person, this is your best bet.

Great concept and cool art but, overall, it was a bit underwhelming and the hipster staff seemed pretty disinterested in their guests. The room was sparse and clean but the communal pool area felt a bit neglected. We really wanted to love the Thunderbird, but the hype didn't really deliver.

I loved the spare decorations, and didn't need a TV or phone in my room - because I was only there to sleep and the bed was very comfortable! So much to do in Marfa. There are only two drawbacks to the Thunderbird, and neither can be helped: the train is very noisy (earplugs are provided in the rooms), and...
