Ours was a last minute trip, and owners, Brad and Dallas, were very accommodating and helpful. Our little cabin was just what we needed, and our next trip to the area will include another stay here (something I rely on in reviews is whether a return trip would be made!). Also enjoyed Max the resident dog!
LOVED OUR STAY! Great location. Brad, Dallas and family are simply outstanding and extremely accommodating. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is a little fridge which made it convenient for us to keep perishables for making our own meals. The front porch on our cabin was perfect for an early morning breakfast and peacefulness; evening meals and drinks. The doors have a code on them so no need to worry about losing keys. The Boutique was adorable and the Back Porch Bar is a hidden Gem! Perfect for friends to gather and enjoy each others company. We can't wait to return and bring other friends and family. We will definitely include a Friday night/weekend in our stay next time to enjoy live music. Looking forward to the completion of the outdoor Kitchen/Pavillion area!!! Can't say enough about it all. Don't forget to ask Max, the boxer to "say" hello to you and ask to meet "Sis". Thanks a million!! Mike and Julie…
After my stay I happened upon another review which had a negative reaction to the Come and Take It flag. LOL! Welcome to Texas. I found the liberty behind the flag very comforting. Max the Boxer was amazing. All I did was lean over to the sleeping Max and said, "Hi Sweetheart", he knew who I was talking to and lifted his head and wagged his little stump of a tail. Adorbs. Loved my room. The sheets were so soft and the bed and pillows were very comfy too. Thanks, Brad & Dallas!
For $137 a night, it should have at least been clean. But nothing says "welcome" like mouse droppings, electricity that doesn't work, rude responses from the owners, and an oversize flag out front with an AK47 and the words "Come and Take It".
It was a small quaint place. They had a nice pool. It wasn't noisy. It said full kitchen amenities. I thought that meant stove and cooking ware or and utensils. It had a microwave and small fridge. So, we had to buy things to cook on grill with. And theres was the problem with Roaches. I moved frig and 4 dead ones were under. I wasn't worried because I didn't see live ones until the next day. I found one in bedroom.
We were wanting to take a vacation but due to Covid and the craziness with protesters in bigger cities we were limited to where we could go. We decided on Leakey since we also have been wanting to ride Twisted Sister and float the Frio. We found Leakey Inn and booked a 4 night stay in the Angora room which has the king size bed. When we arrived, we picked up our keys outside the front office in a tub. The room was ready for us and was clean. The AC worked great. It also had a ceiling fan which was nice. The mattress was ok but sheets were super soft. No box springs so when you sat down on the bed you heard a big “thud”. They definitely need to update the shower. They have tried to patch holes in it and the patching was brown and black. It looked dirty. They also need a new shower head. It shot water in all directions. We had creamer and cups for the coffee pot but no coffee or filters. You have to ask for clean towels if you want them and they highly encourage you to use the same towels more often. Overall, it was probably one of the better motels in Leakey if you need a short stay. The grounds looked like they could use some cleaning. We did check out one day early because nothing to do in town, many restaurants were closed down completely or limited days, and bored. Twisted sister was great, the Concan golf course was very good, but Frio was super low and couldn’t float.…
Excellent location, we stayed in one of the cabins ( the Cliff House) right on the water. We were very happy with the accommodations, and liked that we had a private cabin. The water was nearby, and provided a quiet place to relax. The River outfitters, Garner State PArk, and ConCan were all a short drive away. We will definitely be coming back to this location.
I cancelled my rsvp two weeks before and was told they would not charge me. Charged my card anyways. Gave significant attitude when asking for a refund. Has blown me off several times after saying i would be given a refund. I have submitted these charges as fraud to my bank. Be careful with these crooks.
We have been coming here for many years, although our visit on 05/02/2020 was the first in the past ten years. Owners are very friendly and sincere, but our overall observation is that there is a lot of room for clean up around this place. It's not cheap, yet it does not offer the ammenities offered by comparably priced hotels. Although our stay was comfortable, we will not be returning, as for the money, we can stay in luxary at the Inn on the hills in Kerrville actually for less cost.
We only went for the Friday night live music. Actually a pretty cool place, if you are looking for a “home town place”. The bar was filled with friendly local folks. We ended up exchanging phone numbers with a couple we met. Live music was, two guys on acoustic guitars. The music was good. There is a gift shop/boutique(that my wife said was nice and not expensive), bar, inside and outside seating, I would say “rustic”, but nice. Food was limited, the night we were there, you could have gumbo or street taco plate. We had the street taco plate, if you don’t mind two tacos, beans and rice on a paper plate, you pick up your order, it is fine. We enjoyed it!
