I recently visited Houston for business travel in which I took my family( husband and two children) along. We arrived earlier than expected, therefore, requested and paid $25 for an early check in. The first room (17th) floor was terrible! It was dusty and dirty. There was a very questionable stain on the pull out couch and writing on the walls. The bathroom shower door appeared to have not been cleaned and there were still soaps from a previous stay. The carpet was also in very bad condition and had multiple stains. I asked to be moved and was offered the room right next door. This room also had stains on the pull out couch and even worse stain on the carpet from what appeared to be a blue drink or slurpee. Both rooms had very odd skunk like smells. The third (3rd floor) and final room we were offered was average but appeared to be cleaner than the other two. Carpet contained multiple stains and rooms are very dated and old with damaged furniture. There were no sheets for the pull out bed, only a old itchy blanket. When I asked for sheets I was brought three fitted sheets. We often took the stairs as the elevators took very long. There was trash and trays of food left for days. When we addressed it, we were told staff are allowed to eat there. Does that mean trash can be left as well? Front desk staff were not very friendly and forcibly empathetic. We will not return!…
I’m giving this hotel a 5 star because the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated, and needs some upgrading, but the service made up for it. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices.
We stayed here for the NRA annual meeting of members. The hotel was very convenient to the downtown convention center and allowed us to walk to the show every morning. There are plenty of restaurants very close by so dining is easy and enjoyable. I took a couple of walks near the hotel in the early morning just to get a little exercise, very nice area. The highlight was checking in and dealing with hotel staff. They were all so helpful and polite. Great representatives of the hotel. The area outside the hotel was very loud, we could hear music up until about 11 pm. Then it quieted down. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this hotel
I cancelled my booking in March for a supposed stay in June but just last week i received messages from my bank that there are several attempts to charge my card in diff amounts. I had to block my card!
We chose this hotel because we knew of the suite layout, and on their site that they were pet friendly. When we were checking in a manager named Nicole tried to charge us $125 non refundable fee for our small dog. When we pointed out that that their TripAdvisor page said nothing about a charge for pets they were forced to give us our room. This manager remained extremely rude throughout our stay, and made it very uncomfortable. The room also did not have a night latch , which should be the easy fix. This is not up to Embassy suites standards. Don’t stay here if you have another option.
Good hotel near to the George R Brown Convention Center. Pros: - very good breakfast buffet with plenty of hot items including ordered to made Omelet. I heard this is signature of Embassy Suites. - large rooms (suites) with separated bedroom and living room. With 2 TV's. - free wifi and speed is fast. - near the convention center - near various restaurants - safe neighborhood Cons: - dirty hand towels and also trash can be seen in hallways - did not have 24 hour room service (food). Depended on restaurant on 1st floor which closes at 10PM - had problems with my keys (intermittently working)
Stayed at this hotel during a conference. Awesome location to the convention center. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. Great omelettes. Will definitely book here the next time I’m in Houston.
The staff are courteous but the room was dirty with stains in the carpet, splash of coke on the door and a piece of wire was in the restroom outlet. The mattress needs to be replace and the paint in the ceiling of the shower was coming off.
Stayed for 5 nights and asked for room to be cleaned 2 of twice. Room was never cleaned the entire time while I was there. The room and the breakfast were OK but for being in downtown Houston and the price that I paid it was a disappointment
Bathroom door would not stay open, shower was hard to turn off and on (needed a new washer or something), dirty carpet evident from barefoot prints and shoe prints in bathroom. The maintenance issues were reported to the front desk the first morning we were there, but never fixed (we were there 3 nights). Great location right across from convention center and Discovery Green park, and great views. Nice people at front desk and housekeeping.
