The hotel itself is old and the hallways are in need of paint but our room was more than adequate. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The free breakfast is what you would expect at any mid priced hotel. The location is...More

I am not sure there is any area in Houston that is safe. It is within walking distance, but I would not do it after sunset. It is a little over a half mile to Lakewood Church, and then under a 12 lane highway. There are not a lot of choices for restaurants within walking distance. There is two hamburger joints, and a Chinese restaurant within a quarter mile.
If you look at the La Quinta site they should tell you what eating places are close. I again stress that like all other areas in Houston proper it is not safe on the streets at night.
