Detailed Reviews
This has got to be the most bucolic of Aussie settings, a white weatherboard house and yet its incongruous to think that this retreat is a wonderful Italian outpost. For starters the crisp flatbread drizzled with olive oil is a wonderful note to start with. Blue swimmer crab pieces mixed through spaghettini topped with grated bottarga carry enough zing. But who can resist the suckling pig... guess i will wait for another season

Just across the road from the Tea Rooms of Yarck, The Churches is the perfect place to lay your head down after an indulgent degustation at the Tea Rooms. Bookings have to be made through the Tea Rooms by phone - best to call Thu-Sun when the restaurant's open. We collected our keys from the restaurant as it was open during our stay. The keys are attached to a very handy torch.
The accommodation was modern, comfortable and clean except for the odd cobweb in the very high ceilings. The open-plan design includes a kitchenette (sink, kettle, toaster, bar fridge), dining table, bed and claw-foot bathtub (in full view of the bed FYI). There's a separate bathroom too, which comes with a generous supply of Sukin toiletries.
Entertainment is provided in the form of magazines, CDs and DVDs. No TV reception or wi-fi here! 3G works though if you are bound to the internet.
After dinner at the Tea Rooms, we were given half a loaf of bread for breakfast, which we had together with the supplies already at The Churches - butter, Vegemite, jams, plain yoghurt, compote, muesli, pear juice, sparkling water. Plunger coffee and tea is provided too, but we bought takeaway coffees from the Giddy Goat down the road instead.
It's probably not the best value for money, but there's not a lot on offer at Yarck and if it means you don't have to drink and drive, then it's fairly reasonable.
