Car broke down just as we were driving out of Hondo for San Antonio. Was unable to get a tow truck (AAA is going to get a very negative review) and needed to find a hotel. The Regency Inn was the closest hotel, and at first we were a little reluctant seeing as it looks like a typical unbranded roadside hotel. How that reluctance changed immediately after we walked into the lobby. The front desk clerk, Sammy, greeted us with enthusiasm and warmth. He made sure all of our needs for the stay were met, including lending us a couple of charging cubes so we could charge our phones. We found our room (112) to be clean, with typical amenities. Everything in the room worked, television, nice cool AC, and comfortable beds. Room was quiet and isolated from the highway traffic. The rates were half what the next nearest hotel charges. I would definitely recommend the Regency Inn if you need a place to stay while in Hondo.…
This is the WORST budget room we have ever had. I almost left, if I wasnt exhausted driving back cross country I would have. Nothing bit me and I did manage 3 hours sleep between trains passing and big Desiel blow outs by the door. Holes in the doors and rotted out shower with electrical tape shower head, trashcan under the sink for the leak, no coffee maker and not sure linens had been changed. The fridge did work but dirty with the last guests leftovers. Got a shower and the bed was dirty from walking bare foot to bed. I've spent less and got more. I pride myself on being a thrifty traveler but this was my worst room ever.
One of the best stays i have ever had and it is mostly due to the wonderful service of Sammy an employee there. We will be staying here much more often and i will highly recommend this place to all friends and family.
Back again, everything good again. TV is DirecTV via Roku now. I believe this works over wifi which does well but our devices seemed to need more signal. Lots of channels available. When I called, the manager was calling me by name before I said my name. He knew our old room number. I think he had some cyber help.
Was greeted with very friendly couple that manage the place. Actually showed us the room because we mentioned we had bad experience the night before with the beds. The rooms were very clean ,smelled pleasant. AC worked perfect. Had problem with tv at first but he came right down and fixed it for us. Treated us like hometown people instead of just visitors. Had plenty of towels and toiletries. Beds were very comfortable. Room was big with frig, ironing board iron, hair dryer. I will stay again if needed
Stayed here years ago when it was ABVI. Told about current remodeling work at check-in. Two night stay was OK. TV had good selection. Wifi did not cover southeast corner of property very well at all. Affordable.
Called booked room. Ask for an early check in, no problem, until we tried to check in, 3 hours later. Made our hunt, came back to take a shower to go eat and almost no water pressure in shower. Bed was a full size. Room was very dated.
This is a budget motel that is a great value for the price. Room was very clean, bed was very comfortable and Samuel at the front desk was so jovial and hospitable that he really helped to make our stay enjoyable. We didn’t even stay in one of the newly refurbished rooms that Samuel took time to show us, and I would would definitely stay here again.
Hotel was ok ...however would not refund Cost if prepaid before trip. Checked out early to beat pending storms on way home. Management said no refund...won’t be back! This hotel was last resort due to Spring Break...see why it was 2 stars...better customer service could increase my rating.
We came upon this motel a year ago and it has been our go-to lodging when we're in the area. It is one story & rooms open directly to the outside. Pet friendly. Large, clean rooms with micro & fridge, comfortable bed, quiet. Pool area was clean. Large pet exercise area. Manager/ desk personnel very pleasant & professional. On Hwy 90 just west of town. Within minutes of shopping, restaurants, & fuel. 12 miles from Castroville
