Staff was friendly. Arrived very, very late and had to wait for office to open after calling them but for being in the middle of the night she was very pleasant. Easy to check in and easy to check out. Room was very clean with a microwave and a refrigerator, Air conditioner was even on and the room was cool.... More

Air conditioner did not work. A terrible night. Arrived late per reservation, pre-paid. Could call no one. Poor management. Would not stay here again unless checked AC first. Tough when it's only motel.

This hotel is walking distance from all but one of the Audobon reserves in High Island. It is dated and our carpet could have stood replacing. However, when you consider that many of the guests probably come back with muddy shoes, etc., the carpet and room were clean and with the three days we were there, we had very good... More

I have been staying here for years while photographing birds in the area. I do have to call ahead because it books up quickly. Its not a luxury hotel but it is clean, comfortable and safe. I am a women that frequently travels by myself and there a few other hotels that I feel this safe. There are usually lots... More

My boyfriend & I went fishing at Rollover Pass & stayed here at the recommendation of a friend. My friend told me it's a total time warp but very clean & has a friendly staff. My friend's description was spot on. It was like a step back in time with the olive green colors & window unit air conditioner but... More

I've been coming to this hotel for over 20 years. I've seen it at its best and at its worst. My most recent trip was a few weeks ago. It was ok. We thought it was missing a shower head but my parents had the same thing, so we just figured that was what was in every room. My husband... More

We went to Boliver to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. I have often told my husband that we didn't always need to stay at a nice motel. He called my bluff. First off, the smell was just piercing on the nose from the minute we opened the door. If it wasn't for the essential oils I bought (medicinal purposes) I... More

We came here based on reviews and I don't k ow what these people were thinking. The place reeked of urine. The beds are not queen. They are full size at best. We got moved to another room and the air conditioner leaked all over the bed and soaked it. The tub was peeling and the deadbolt on the door... More

I had been warned by reviews on Trip Advisor and went prepared for the worst. So, it was not as bad as I had anticipated. Went to bird with a friend world class birder who had been there before. He said the place had improved because a mini refrigerator had now been added to the room!!! So what were the... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Gulfway on a recent birding expedition to High Island. Our room was clean, if quite basic, although the bathroom was a bit shabby. Walls are paper-thin, so we could hear conversations on both sides quite clearly. Meals at the restaurant were pretty tasteless, both dinner (only available for motel guests on certain evenings) and... More
