Giant sign outside: "Free Wi-Fi". Didn't work. Called the desk, "it's not working right now." Which isn't a deal breaker for me. BUT there is absolutely no reception inside the rooms. Again, isn't a huge deal...Normally. But I did need to communicate with work...had to drive down the road to get reception. The lobby had cobwebs all over the light fixtures. The bedspreads had holes in them. The sheets did seem clean. The beds were lumpy. The carpet felt tacky and almost damp...kept our shoes on the whole time. My husband and I laughed, we've stayed in worse, and it does what it's supposed to do, it's a bed and the air conditioner worked ha! My first choice was booked up, and we HAD to stay in town for our travel arrangements to work out the next day. If you have to stay, you'll live, but I suggest looking at the area's top rated lodging instead.…
I made a reservation several months in advance for a very important weekend for our family in Halletsville. The week before the actual reservation, I called the Chaparral, talking with a woman and then a man to make "sure" our reservation was confirmed...all was well. The day before we were to arrive at this motel, late in the evening, I received an email saying the reservation was cancelled. No attempt was made to contact me about any payment issues. Very disapointing and put us in a real bind. The worse part was that when I called to find out what happened, the owner yelled so much that I couldn't get a word in. Incredibly unproffesional and verbally abusive. I do not recommend this motel.
motel was very clean and a reasonable price but upon checkout a three dollar charge was added without my knowledge or consent. Front desk could not remove and manager said he would credit amount but did not.... it took three weeks to get fee removed.....always get a receipt and check it for additional charges
Stayed 1 night on my way home from Southern Texas. Management and Staff were friendly, price was very reasonable. Room was Very Clean & Comfortable! Had a King Room - very comfy & pillows were wonderful!!!
I stay at this hotel when I come to Hallettsville twice a year. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast selection is as good as you'd get at any large chain. It's always fun to make your own waffles and this year the machine made 4 mini-waffles instead of just one large one.
We were part of an emergency disaster team dispatched to aid in relief for hurricane Harvey victims. This motel gave us superior service during our three day stay and it's staff worked tirelessly to provide us with everything we needed to get through the tough days. The rooms are exceptionally clean, the beds good, and there's plenty of hot water. The manager worked hard to get the wifi back in service and we had good reception even when the not at full power everywhere. The complimentary breakfast were better than most chain motels offer--waffles, real bacon, fruit. We were more than satisfied with the services and the staff and happy to be there each night.
I did not expect a whole lot from this motel, except for a clean room and bed. And that is what I got. Towels and wash cloths were worn and ruff. Bath/shower was so small, it was difficult for a large man like myself to maneuver. Tap water appeared rusty; wife refused to shower in it. We had room with two queen beds. One bed 's foundation appeared broke. Did not eat the very limited selection for breakfast (waffles or muffins). If your expectations for a "budget" stay are not high, then this hotel will suit your needs.
When we had to evacuate for the hurricane, this place bent over backward to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable. The room was quiet and clean, with microwave and fridge, in a nice country type setting with stores nearby. Love this motel!
We had to stay here escaping from the hurricane (no other rooms available). Beds were uncomfortable, pillows were flat, room service was unavailable, cell phones & wifi did not work inside the room. To make a call or to connect using cellphone data, we had to stand outside. Adjacent rooms were loud and occupants stood outside until 3 am in the morning. The breakfast they claimed to provide was not there. Oh...and the motel charged us $40 more per night than their published rate!! I have no respect for price gougers during a devastating time in people's lives. So....I do NOT recommend staying here. I would sleep in my car if I had to do it over again. We high tailed it out of there as soon as we could.
We booked thru booking.com and was not disappointed. It was on our hurricane evacuation route. The room was large and comfortable. The desk manager was very friendly and suggested a place to eat. The king size bed was comfortable.
